Hello all!

I am new to this board but have been reading through some posts and hope that some of you may be able to help!
I am going to DLP this Christmas, the dilemma is about the big day itself, Xmas Day! what is disney like on that day? is the park open all day?food available? is it busy or quiet? Are the shows/parades on? I imagine christmas eve to be magical for the children (and me!) but now worried about spending christmas day at disney. We are leaving boxing day morning to travel to my mum who lives about 2 hours away.
I can change the dates so we leave xmas eve to travel to mums but would christmas day be a special experience for the children?

any advice appreciated, as just going to book eurotunnel, but thought would ask for your thoughts first!
Thankyou
Joanne

Wow! Christmas Day at DLRP sounds like it would be amazing. I have never been myself but a few people who have been seem to suggest that Christmas Day itself is not actually that busy, but Boxing Day is manic.

I would love to spend Christmas at DLP, its a must for either next year or the year after :)

For the past 3 years, we've spent Christmas in a hotel near to where most of my family live. Sorry, but IMO, waking up Christmas morning in a hotel (even a Disney one) for young children is just not the same as waking up in their own home/Grannys house :goodvibes .

:confused3 I don't even think waking up on Christmas morning in the DLH would compare for my DD.

I'm sure Christmas Eve would be truly magical at DLRP, for everyone, but busy I'd imagine.

thanks for the replies, that was quick!

We will be staying in an apartment close to Disney, and as we are driving bringing xmas presents etc, also we had a bad xmas last year, children had their christmas spoilt and i wanted to do something really special this time around.

It was really what DLRP has open and going on on Christmas Day itself, with regards to the parades, opening times etc, and if anybody has been there on Christmas Day itself.

Thanks again in advance
Joanne

I'm sure you will all have a brilliant time, especially if last Christmas wasn't everything you hoped it would be :wizard: .

There are a few members here who have been to DLRP on Christmas Day, I'm sure they'll be able to help with your questions.

We were there on Christmas Day last year. Park was open until 10PM and all parades , shows etc on as normal. All the restaurants were open however make sure you book in advance because they get booked up early.
Parks were busy but tolerable - waits on rides were not too long particularly in the evening. However, the parks got very busy from the 27th December - was far busier than when we had been previously during the summer peak.

Hello SIL !

fancy seeing you here :rotfl:

what apartments are you staying @ ?
we stayed @ the adagio / pierre vacance when we went

you are so lucky going for xmas,do the girls know ?!

Christmas day is like any other day in Disneyland. Everything is in full swing, parades etc. I would recommend pre-booking your meals though as im sure it will be rather busy.

Unlikely, im broke :lmao:

And you've got a DLH trip booked 11 days later ;)
:offtopic: I'm quite fortunate in that our SDD day is actually christmas day, so we'll be celebrating extra hard, although I am working in between Christmas and New Year, so I can only celebrate properly until the end of Boxing Day.

You could read some of the trip reports at the top of the page - we have a few Disers that have spent Christmas at DLP - that will give you an idea of how busy the parks are :thumbsup2
