Christmas Cruising 2005

Aisling welcome home. Glad to hear you had a great time. I,too, have cried at certain events over the years, so you are not alone!

Loved the movie. Dom felt some of the violence was unnecessary. Same Jack - can't get enough. Kayla did get to the midnight show with a friend. Dom and I took my mother to the 4:30 yesterday. Kayla went again with my nieces yesterday afternoon. I am sure we'll get to it again. Nice twists. Can't wait until next summer and POTC3.

I was also thinking it's been a year since the grand prix -

Off to a graduation party tonight.

I am afraid we'll be spoiled with the DVC and not want to go back to a regular room.

If you want to see the Jack sparrow look alike & many other podcasts go to distantcreations.com/************** go to show 64. It shows a little show before you go in - 18 minutes worth. I used (itunes) where it says recent podcasts to the right the orange words. to watch it.

Welcome back
Jill

Jill: did my eyes decieve me...did you post???? soo good to see you on your trike :goodvibes

Aisling: Glad you're home. I was wondering about your return, but wishful thinking had you there even longer in my mind....I'm waiting to hear how it was with the "family" along.

Can you believe the Grand Prix is upon us, we should be getting ready for a cruise after that right???? I', so in the modd to book another one and pay for it later....I've got withdrawl happening....we have talked about sneaking out to WDW in the fall (we've got those darn AP's) don't they blow up in your pocket if you don't use them twice in one year????

I'm hoping to see some wonderful airfares in the fall and just zip, we're going.

Something happened to me on that last trip, I've become obessed with vacations. (okay it wasn't that last trip, but shortly aroudn that time I think)

We are off to a pool party this afternoon for our retired principal from school, then tomorrow Wil dude has a gokart race. Molly and I are discussing waking up with the chickens (5amish) to go or not....

OH JACK SPARROW.....We went, in full costume (me, molly, & wil) it was a good movie, but I two liked #1 better. Paul complained of the plot getting him twisted....I just keep thinking about how nice it would be to be in that water and swimming with the dolphins again. I figure we'll go again soon, perhaps at the drive in next time....

Gotta get to costco we're bringing a veggie tray.

Later,

N

Yes, I am posting. I found some good listening & viewing for all of the dedicated Mouse lovers.
Below are some of the podcasts that are available on "INSIDE THE MAGIC" It is interesting to listen to. He goes once a week to WDW & updates his podcasts (video & audio) He is a Fla resident - not a castmember. He even has a forum.

He also mentions EZ-WDW.com & mouseplanet.com & ************* Oh, that's one they bleeped out.

Hi Jill!
Jill, I LOVE the podcasts, I listen to them all the time.

Nan, are you ready for England?? Will you be staying in a hotel or with friends/family? It would be great to stay in a home, the real British experience. I was looking into rentals once, outside London, because one day when we're ready to take a European trip, I really don't want to do the touristy thing. Ireland is great for having reasonable rentals, with so much in driving distance. Anyway, enough about thaaaaaaaat.

Dede and Tig, mail sent out yesterday. :thumbsup2

I have to tell you all something...last night I booked the 3 of us on the Christmas 2007 Magic. Deck 7, verandah 7120. I'm still in shock that I did it, but I HAD to!! I was able to get a cat. 6 that's being sold as a cat.7 price because of the "obstructed" verandah. The obstruction is the curve of the ship on the right side of the verandah, not an obstruction at all in my eyes, so I was happy to save some money. I was seriously thinking of going with a porthole room, and still may downgrade to save. So what do you think?

Grim and Dede, didn't you have a porthole stateroom? What did you think of it? I'm thinking I'd really rather save some more money than go with the verandah again. I would love some advice.

I haven't been on the 2007 thread, I feel like I'd be unfaithful to my 2005 friends!! Chad hasn't been up to meeting new Dis people on the thread/on board, because he only wants to cruise with you all! No kidding. (PLEASE BOOK THIS CRUISE IF YOU CAN!!) He's been in touch with all the college kids he met on our cruise, and will probably nudge some of them to cruise again this time. They were making plans to meet again on a DCL cruise, so maybe it'll be this one. And Tori and her family will be on this 2007 Christmas cruise! She and Jesse have been keeping in touch through the myspace, I think.
Hi Tori, you still out there??

Jesse and Chad are both out. Chad's seeing PotCDMC as we speak, and I hope he gives it a good review. I loved it Nan that you went in costume! Your family is so freaking cool! I miss you all SO much when I get like this.

Hi All

Aisling, I think you're obsessed with Disney trips now! That's great! :thumbsup2

Its going to be hard on us waiting, but we really want to wait until Piper's old enough to enjoy herself a little. We have talked several times about going on the 2007 Christmas Cruise, but just decided that we should wait until she's at least 2 or 3. She would only be 15 months by next Christmas, and I just don't know about taking her while she's that little.

I liked our porthole room. We had a verandah on our first cruise, and it was awesome. I was afraid I would really miss it on this last cruise, but I didn't miss it that much. I didn't get as sick on this last cruise either, though, so maybe that's why I didn't miss it as much. We were out and about on the ship more, too, on the second cruise. I would say if the porthole room is a LOT cheaper and you really want to save the money, that the porthole room is a good option. However, if its not that much of a savings and you really love sitting on your verandah, go for the verandah. It would stink to be disappointed your whole cruise.

I'll be looking for "the package". I didn't expect you to bring it all the way home and ship it yourself, though! Thanks so much!

Things are slowly, but surely taking shape in the new house. We are working on painting and putting a chair rail up in Piper's room. All her furniture is either here or on order. Our new bed is here and looks great...now we just need the mattress to get here! John will be busy the next few weekends painting some of the rooms so that there's some color in this house!

Good to see everyone posting lately! We still need to get out and see POTC, but John hates the crowds, so we'll probably wait a week more and then go early on a weekend.

Time to clean the kitchen!
Bye for now,
::MinnieMo Dede

Aisling:

I wish you called me when you booked....I did the big Dis no-no and we ripped out our old ugly tile in the kitchen tonight (okay, chicken, & my nephews did not me) because we are getting granite counter tops. I can see you rolling your eyes...saying noooooooo :rolleyes1 that could have been a cruise...you're so right :guilty:

how much was the 2007 for level 6??? can it sleep 4? I so want to go again. what trip western or eastern? you know me I might just do it anyways....I can always hide the deposit and not tell him right???

okay seriously, we aren't fixing up the house to enjoy it. It's kinda funny, we know if we find a place in HMB we have to update this house...it's so dated for the neighborhood, so to flip it quick, like we might need to do, it has to be ready to move. We had 3 windows replaced (wilson's bedroom & 2 in the kitchen) new counters in the kitchen, repainting the cabinets (paul painted them couple years ago and they look bad, sorry dear....) new face on the fireplace and crown molding thru out with new painted ceilings. new kitchen sink and tonight we agreed new stove, what the heck what's another $500 (yes I know half my dis deposit) I'm using reverse phycology on myself, once we get the house fixed I'll be happier here (not) and then we'll find the place in HMB. ho hummmmm so many emotions. It's been so weird since dad is gone and living here.

can ya tell I'm feeling chatty? that means I'm avoiding things huh? yes big meeting in the morning with a client...lots of work I didn't do today for it. oh well....if they can me I can go on vacation with no guilt of leaving work at home :rotfl2: oh ya, I have no guilt about that anyways anymore....

ok, in reply, we are hoteling it in Europe for most of the time since my cousins house is full with her brothers and wives and their kids. We have use of an apartment in downtown London for some days, just not sure yet....I'm too focused on American Girl trip and Grand Prix, haven't detailed our Dland Paris plans even yet... I bet Lynn has lost all hope on me.... please Paris stay with me :artist:  (he is a french guy right?)

ok, must get to bed getting late and I'm begining to freak myself out.

Honk sku,

N

On my very first cruise I had reserved that room. Didn't get to use it because they gave us an upgrade. I tried to book it the last cruise but it was for 3 not 4. I like that idea a verandah but at a different level price.

Woohoo! Congrats Aisling! Wish we could go with you

Like Dede said, we had a veranda on our first cruise. I honestly didn't miss it on the Christmas cruise. It would have been nice to have, but it didn't make our cruise any less magical. We probably only spent 4 or 5 hours total on the verandah the first cruise. That's like spending $200 an hour to sit in a wet lawn chair! We'll skip the verandah for all our future cruises.

Nan - what's the name of the granite you picked out?

Jill - I listen to those pod casts too - except I have to rip off my headphones everytime I think they're going to talk about a spoiler.

Oh, boy I really am out of the loop. Is there other news someone can capsulize for me for the last 6 months????? Congratulations. Kayla asked us NOT to bring her home a souvenir!

Reading the 'best secrets' thread on the theme parks forum and am making a spreadsheet, if any one is interested. Most I already knew, some I just want to be reminded of. I can't believe I'm going back to WDW in a month!!

Aisling we cruising in 2008 for our 50th birthdays. We booked on the ship and are going to roll it over each year. I am claustrophobic, so I love the veranda (read: MUST have). We spent a good deal of time on it at Christmas. Our rooms weren't connected and it was a good way to talk to each other. Had pre-dinner cocktails and night caps out there.

Ok, back to work - no I don't want to - please don't make me.

Aisling! I got it!

Thank you my friend, who'd you bribe to get all those Mickey Coasters for me you sweetheart you?

Miss you all, headed to Allentown at godawful in the am...I'll check in when I can

LYMI,

c.

Hi gang,

Tig must be at the Dismeet in Allentown by now. have fun, girlfriend! :wave2:

Karen, I'm interested in your tips spreadsheet.
Are you looking forward to Expedition Everest? Be prepared to have your stomach tickeled with that backward drop! I know what you mean about being claustrophobic. I had a very bad experience on this last trip, it's hard to even talk about and think about. I panicked while inside the Mission Space thing, and it was so horrible I'm feeling nervous now just remembering it.
I wish you all a fantastic trip. Stay cool, the weather is going to be hhhottt!

Nan, going to WDW with the extended family is something I'd rather not do again. It was fun, good memories, but tense at times, and I'm so NOT into tension. It's funny, even Chad and Jesse said the trips with just the 3 or 4 of us were best. I ended up spending a ton more money than I would have if it was just us. The whole trip I was feeling the "I need to show off how wonderful WDW is" syndrome, and I don't think I ever felt relaxed the whoe time. But it was my beloved WDW, so I shant complain!

We have changed our 2007 cruise booking to a cat. 6 4 person room, because Mel says he'll probably come with us this time. He knows he missed out on a lovely vacation last Christmas, so we shall see.

We should plan a 2009 Christmas cruise with little Princess Piper. Grim, how does that grab you? We can have the whole gang back together again. :grouphug:

Aisling:

Totally, get your drift. I think it's the best to travel with just the immediate family, then no pressure to make the rest of the crowd enjoy the vaca.

What are the dates for 2007? Is it eastern or western? I was just trying to look it up for kicks and giggles and Molly and Wilson are agreeing that we should come too. Molly says "chicken won't agree" hmmmm 1.5 years to work on him, yup I can do that....

Been up to our eye balls in project creep at the winchester skjerven house....

made Paul create me a new closet today, he figures he'll be done by midnight....

hmmmm... not much more to say.

Going to snoop the disney site for more cruise info.

 from Molly

The Allentown Meet was awesome!

Everything went quite smooth and from what I can see so far we're getting lots a great reviews!

Mom and Rose had a good time & we're gonna do it again next year...who's coming?

Rose and I started mapping out our Cali trip for next summer, so far we're flying into Vegas and will drive from there over to Cali & head up the coast. Def gonna hit DL & Universal Hollywood & SD Zoo. Rose is trying to see if San Fran will fit into the equation and of course, if possible we want to visit with some West Coast friends while we're out there.

Aisling, I would sooo love to do a cruise again with everyone but I'm thinking 2009 might work better for me than 2007, esp if Rose wants to do 2 weeks in Cali and still do 2 weeks in NC (our yearly trip.) We also need to get you and me and our families together around here sometime soon...I was actually thinking that Mom would *really* like to see the Lion King on Broadway, is that still running?

Sorry to hear your trip wasn't as good as it could have been but glad to see that Mel is coming around & wanting to do do Disney again.

Karen, Kayla & Mel...

& even you Sharon are close enough that we could all see a show together eh?

Any thoughts, lemme know...

Dede - how are you getting along? Feeling OK and staying cool?

It's been really hot here - in the low 100's today. "I'm melting....."

Aisling, if Tig wants to do 2009, why don't you do both - 2007 and 2009! I think Piper will be just the right age in 2009!

Well, I think I've said enough. I don't want to wear out my welcome here, nor do I want to ruin my reputation as a guy with few words to say (I leave all the talking up to Nan - she's so much better at it than me.)

Good night -

Aisling, if Tig wants to do 2009, why don't you do both - 2007 and 2009! I think Piper will be just the right age in 2009!
Sounds like a plan!
Good to see you, Chicken. ;)

does that mean chicken thinks we should do 2007 & 2009 too?

Aisling: what are the exact dates and location to the 2007 cruise?
