Christmas Cruising 2005

Last night about 10, Dan was with him. He will be so missed, but it was time. I cannot imagine waiting for weeks or months like we have for just 10 days. It is so draining. But now everyone can go forward, including Dan's dad, Ron. I am sure he and his father are having a beer together as we speak, looking down on all of us. :drinking1

Need to get kids lunch and to basketball games, call my principal & teammate. Get sub plans typed up to fax over. Dan has the hard stuff. He has to do sub plans AND all the other stuff.
Gotta go...
Kris

 P&PD to your family Kris, my prayers are with you...

I have a question for anyone who bought our group shot from formal night...

Has anyone copied one that they can share with me please?!?!?!

Kris: So Sorry to hear your news. Please extend my condolences to Dan. I'll keep your family in my prayers, which are pretty much non stop these days.

Tigg: I'll have Paul try to scan it later today, seems it should scan since the other ones did 'eh? I'll email it to you directly. If anyone else wants a copy pm me your email address.

Nan

Thank you dahling...

-I kept forgetting to ask-

~I'm at sis' house for the superbowl~

What're you up to?

Kris~ So sorry for your loss...prayers and thoughts your way. Its never easy saying goodbye.

Nan and Paul~ the house looks really cool. Bet you could do a lot with that. :thumbsup2

Tig~ haven't had time to look through the birthday photos yet, but can't wait to see Brittany's new hair!

Well, I had my first official pregnancy appt last Thursday. They sent me to get a "dating" ultrasound so that they would have a more accurate "age" for the baby. I was 7 weeks as of Thursday, with a due date of September 21 (one day before my birthday :p )

We got to see the baby, which looked like a blurry, white peanut. Except for the fact that peanuts don't have heartbeats, and the baby does! We could actually see the heartbeat.

Time for me to eat again, so I'll talk later!

Hi Aisling, Jill, Lynn
Miss talking to you all. Hope to be back more when I'm not so hungry and tired all the time! :cloud9:

Bye for now,
::MinnieMo Dede

Dede you crack me up....totally remember wanting to eat all the time and sleep, and yes they look so funny this small huh? Wasn't that heart beat just the best? I suggest taking a tape recorder to an appointment as you get moving along...the heartbeat when you hear it will knock your socks off. I think most doctors also let you tape the ultrasound, don't be shy and ask. We have Wilson on tape, actually Molly too.

Paul hasn't made it back out to scan yet sorry....we turn the bowl on and turned into couch potatoes. I must confess, we don't watch football, but this has been a pretty interesting game so far. 10-14...darn I say we are in favor of the west coasters... the commercials are pretty funny too of course.

Mom & Lee are headed over soon to have dinner with us, steaks, articokes, asparagas, potatoes, and this new wine...Din-e-mite (have you seen the commericals for that movie, hoodwinked) They just got here, Lee has come in her jammies.

She says OLA! going to eat now.

Am off all week..just kinda on call to do what needs to be done. My job today is to find pics for family service tomorrow. We are also having a gathering at a bar for friends, too. Just the way he wanted it.

Thanks for all your thoughts & prayers. We are doing pretty good. Bittersweet...certainly wish he was still here with us, but it was time, for him & for everyone; waiting is horrid.

A good friend who also works w/ Dan came over w/ beer, sandwich fixin's, salad, paper plates, napkins, tissues...it was sweet. Dan wondered why she brought all that over...I said because she wants to help the hurt & its the only tangible thing she really can do. She is the hostess of the group, so it fit her perfect. And thoughtful...tissues since there will be many tears, food so we don't have to worry about cooking (her DH thought she should send fried chicken, but she knows we eat pretty healthy), paper plates so we don't have to worry about dishes. I know it made her feel like she did something, and that is important, too. And it certainly is appreciated.

Nan--dinner last night sounds good!

Dede--FUNNY! Jackson't due date was also Sept. 21!!! (yes, that was our little souvenir from the Fiesta Bowl 1999! so it definitely was the trip!) My water actually broke Sept. 1, but all my kiddos were born early. Enjoy the time to sleep when you want...it will NEVER happen again after baby! :sad2:
I remember working all day, coming home for a nap from 4-6, up to EAT, then back in bed by 8! This was before we knew we were pregnant, and I could NOT figure out why I was so tired! We were so clueless we bought a Honda Prelude (yes, a worthless backseat) during this time! Oh, the first pregnancy is pretty special. Enjoy. (ALL chldren are special, but I found the pregnancy lost its allure after the first one...you are a bit distracted after the first one!)

Well, guess I will go photo digging...better have the tissues close.

Have a great Monday everyone.
Kris

I like the thoughts of a party for a deceased loved one. That is my wish. We always have fun at barbecues. Therefore, that is what I want. Then there will be NO viewing. There is nothing worse than remembering how sad someone looks lying in state. I wish to be cremated & sign made "KISS MY ASH BECAUSE I URNED IT" Then when it comes to the disposal of my ashes. Find the nearest skating rink and sometime when no one is looking Or go to the Ocean & just let them go. :thumbsup2 :cloud9: :woohoo:

Thanks for sending the picture of the house, Nan. It came thru really big & now I can see what it is all about. I, also, would like to have the picture of the formal night. :teeth:

The most interesting thing, I think, about the time frame my girls were born is - they were both born on the weekend, in the afternoon, around 4 pm. & labor was short 4hrs for one & around 2 - 2.5 for the other. On the second (Colleen) I thought I was hungry. Oh, & they are 13.5 months apart to the hour & the day. :goodvibes
Later :surfweb:

This is from Britt's MySpace...I'm gonna post this and go back and see what you all have been up to...

Subject: I LOVE NEW JERSEY!
Body: SOUTH JERSEY <333

-You don't "go to the beach", you go "down the shore".

-You've had arguments over cheesesteak quality.

- You've actually found the Echelon Mall.

- You don't understand why there aren't more 24-hour diners elsewhere in the country.

- You know what a Wawa is, and know the location of at least 10 of them.

- You know that you should get the heck out of Camden before dark.

- You know how to successfully navigate a traffic circle.

- You've counted the number of topless bars on the Black Horse Pike.

- You pronounce "water" "wudder".

- You refuse to call Hoagies "subs."

- You've almost fallen asleep on the parkway, turnpike and I-295

- You've lived through hurricanes, nor'easters and fires, but have never seen a tornado, earthquake or volcano.

- You know that ACME is an actual store, not just a Warner Bros. creation.

- You have mandatory recycling. Enforced by law.

- You've made a meal out of Tastycakes, Herr's potato chips, and Taylor Pork Roll.

- You know New Years is all about the Mummers and the Polar Bear Club

- You can go bowling at 1:30 A.M.

- Route 206 doesn't freak you out at night.

- Your mom still loves Bruce Springsteen.

- You know it can be -10 degrees and 70 degrees in January in the same year.

- There's a fruit and vegetable stand down the road.

- You will always say "YO", and you'll say it often.

- You go to another state and sit at a gas station wondering when the people will come out to pump your gas.

- You know that no matter how much they put into the Camden waterfront, Camden is still Camden.

- You think North Jersey is a different state and South Jersey deserves its own secession.

- You have season passes to Great Adventure.

- You know where Olga's Diner is on Rt 70.

- You are tired of people not believing you're from jersey because you don't have a New York accent.

- You know what "jimmies" are and refuse to call them anything else.

- You have crossed all 5 bridges into Philly at one point in your life.

- You have a story about the "Hell Hole" ride in Wildwood.

- You took your report card to Clementon Park for free tickets.

- You know what funnel cake and water ice are and think something is wrong with people who refer to them as "fried dough" and "slush".

- You've ever driven around aimlessly for hours with your friends saying "So, whatta we doin?"

- You ever drove all the way to the shore just to walk around for 5 minutes then drive back.

- You know of at least 3 bars where you know they wouldn't card you.

- You lived near a "crick" not a creek.

- You never could figure out which was the Black Horse Pike or The White Horse Pike.

- You know that a "Yield" sign is merely a suggestion.

- You don't think you have an accent.

- Everything is "twenty minutes away". If you ask how long it takes to get any place in South Jersey, the person always says, "about twenty minutes". To get to a mall, "Oh, about 20 minutes". To get to the airport, "Mmm, about 20 minutes." To get from Runnemede to Philly, "Only about 20 minutes". Try it. Only the shore areas take more than "twenty minutes". They're usually "an hour and twenty minutes."

- You went to StoryBook Land as a kid.

- Every time someone in Hollywood makes fun of Jersey, you're mad and proud at the same time

- You describe where you live in reference to how far you are from Cherry Hill.

- You would drop everything you were doing and run to the voting polls
right now if you heard we were voting to make North and South Jersey separate states.

- You know all of the "back roads" to get everywhere and prefer them to the Expressway."

If you have either thought or done any of these repost this proudly

No worries Nan...can you believe it's already February...

Send it when you have time, I'll be here. Has anyone started their scrapbook yet? (except for Nan, you said you're doing yours on your cruise ;) )

I've been sampling some new printing paper, heavy card stock...I figured the pages I print I'll just hole punch and make them my pages for the base of my scrapbook.

Eat and Sleep Dede, cause it's true when they say you'll sleep no more once the baby arrives. Used to drive me crazy cause I'd have a million things I'd want to do and absolutely no energy to do em :confused3

John, kiss the little peanut for me will ya. I feel like I know him already

btw-my birthday is September 16th ::yes:: Anyone want to bet on who's birthday he's born closest to? I bet it'll be mine

Jill--I loved your cremation quote! Dan's dad is also being cremated. Did you know it is illegal to scatter ones' ashes? (OK, like who would know, if you are allowed to keep them in an urn??!!) Oh, cool, the song we picked for his service is now on the radio--Brad Paisley's "When I Get Where I'm Going". I am so thankful that song just came out! It is absolutely PERFECT! His wife was stunned when we played it. Alan Jackson's "Remember When" is a good one, too, but it refers to having kids & they didn't have any together (actually his wife has no biological children), so it wasn't quite right. I am all teared up again...bittersweet tears. I guess this is why everyone told me to take a week off. Grief takes time and some solitude.

Tig--I liked the "you know you are from NJ when...); having been to NJ, I, too, know what a Wawa is, but I only know where one is! :confused3 some of those quotes sound like someone from Nebraska might say, too (we call 'em funnel cakes, too) I remember Matt Lauer saying one day on the Today show that he just discovered this great fair food--corn dogs! HOW can you be 40 years old and have never had a corn dog!! Pathetic!

I have not started the cruise scrapbook since I need to order the pics from snapfish this week. BUT I am taking full advantage of this week and have been puttering around in this scrapping room nonstop! And I have been out of the groove for some time! It feels good. I guess now is a good time to reflect back on happy times.

Well, guess I better get to it.
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Kris

I'm glad I could bring a smile to your face...

Poor Matt, What's a farm fair without a corn dog? :confused3 He's probably never been to one of those either

Today's DCL pic-a-day :)

~My Girls, The Magic and a Celebrity in St Maarten~

Hi pals, still haven't forgotten you tiggie, just got lots of day work keeping us working into the night and not making the scans yet....

We got the house all boxed up (all my scrap crap) this morning to have it ready to be cleaned for the cleaning lady to make it really **** and span. After the service on Saturday we'll head back here about 30 family members and have a dinner and margaritas. It is nice to have the house cleaned up just wish it could stay like this all the time.

I'm waiting for my work database to back up ho hmmmm...wish I was on a Disney Cruise.

Did ya hear that today was Mavericks surfing contest, that's just a bit up the road from where we want to be in yes, you guessed it Half Moon Bay.

My back up is done...back to earth.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, Aisling, what were you talking about the other day about what you got from Castaway Cay? Did you rebook on board???

Check ya tomorrow,

Nan

I'll remedy that!

Kids are staying home today to play w/ the cousins from Pitt (they were on the cruise, too). Plus didn't get to bed until 11 last night.

Service & Celebration of Life were wonderful. I think this should be a trend. Minister is SIL's uncle, and he was quick & meaningful. Dan wrote some things & shared them--sweet & funny. I never would have thought he could have done that, but I think he did most of his grieving in the last 10 days & that time watching his dad fade. My BIL did same at his dad's funeral, and my uncle did at another uncle's. That is the way it should be. Laughing and crying at the same time. "When I Get Where I'm Going" is a little TOO perfect of a song for a funeral...we were all SOBBING. But then we headed to the bar, friends joined us, and it was lovely to reminisce and socialize. And my FIL was able to join in...he paid for everyone's drinks & dinner ALL night! (It helps that this place has .80 draws and GREAT cheeseburgers for 2.75 w/ chips!) VERY tired today...coming down off all that adrenaline.

Am glad I took the week to rebuild energy. Diet Pepsi isn't doing it. May need a nap soon...

Hey, the week is half over right now! Enjoy!
Kris

NO RUSH NAN!

Really, it's ok-

YES! I shoulda called you when I saw those waves on tv. It was only 9 o'clock  You'd see those waves right outside your door!? You gotta get a house there :)

Kris, sounds as perfect a day as it could be

Nan, I hope yours is the same...

Hey chicken! Me thinks ye should learn and practice how to post photos here ;)
I'll take any excuse to have ya visit us

Hi everybody else!
