Hi all:

Feeling pretty down today. Tomorrow is Dad's service. This last few weeks have been full and stressful. Too much work, both job and personal for the service, crowding in on my life and bad timing for that.

I'm spending today wrapping up all the loose ends and crying alot.

Wish I was on that ship right about now....listening to the ocean waves crashing against the sides...much better a peaceful place.

Life goes on, yes?

Talk to you later,

Nan

~Close your eyes

Breathe in the salty air

Listen to the ocean going by

As you sit on your verandah

Of room 8558~

Use that imagination of yours my friend

and take your thoughts to a happier place~

you need to take a moment for yourself

so you can make it thru the next few days~

Miss You
Love You

Aisling had asked if Brittany got her haircut...here's a pic of her new do---except that she added a bit o red to it recently :)

Nan--many thoughts, prayers and strength coming your way. :grouphug:

Dan was doing pretty well until we took Jack to the ER AGAIN--high temp & headache for 24 hours, then began to complain of neck pain. But looks as if it was just the flu, and he looks a lot better today. But Dan was more shook than usual in such situations. Understandable.

A bit snowy, windy & cold here...nice day to snuggle at home!

I'll be lurking....

Hi everyone

I'm sneaking on Chad's computer to write this...he doesn't like anyone using his computer...well ha ha I'm on your computer, Chad!

Nan and Kris, my love to you both during this hard time. And Grim & Dede, my love to your little peanut! Please keep up up-to-date with your joy. Life is sorrowful, and life is joyful.

Hi Tiggie, tell Brittany to smile, she looks too cute with her short do!
Are you getting the blizzard? It just started pretty hard here.

I've been bouncing ideas around my brain planning my next disney. The Med cruise is out, way too much $$$. Found out my SIL and nieces are going to WDW last week of June, for their first time. My brother is going to Iraq then for 3 months , so it'll be good for them to have a distraction while he's away. He's a jet mechanic, so I'm not too too worried, since he'll be on base. Did I tell you all this already? I don't have time to scroll back to read, since I want to be out of Chad's room in a minute. My bad! I should just tell him I want to use his computer, he'll feel sorry for me and my withdrawals and give me a break. And then run 50 virus scans after I use it.
Anyway, I booked the Poly from for June 28th to July 5th. And I desperately need a code!

More later!

:love2:

Trying to get organized since will be back at it tomorrow...gee, I might be able to get used to staying at home if they paid me to do it!! :rotfl2:

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Tig & Aisling, you are getting slammed, it looks like! We had .1 of snow Fri. night & there were 63 accidents between 6 and 11 AM!!! You'd think this was Phoenix or something! We have gotten VERY used to no snow & mild weather. We had a 50 day streak of above avg. temps. Marcus was really not into it...wind chills were in teens Fri, and he had on shorts & only a hoodie. We got the pants on, but he still left his jacket at home!!!! GRRRRR! I am NOT looking all that forward to the ensuing teen years....pros & cons, I guess!

Glad snow missed Pitt, BIL & family headed back yesterday AM.

Well, got 2 ballgames on other side of town, at 1 & 4, so we will tag team. (good, cuz I gotta pick up a few things at Target yet). Really just wanna hibernate in my scrapbook room today. This week has been good for me...I am really back in the groove (and it has been MONTHS since I was in the scrapbook groove!). Might even try to get pics ordered from snapfish today, although I need to be honest, I think I need to wait until next weekend.

Hi, Peanut! (that's what we called Marcus when he was in utero! :cloud9: )

Have a good day...I may check in later!

Bye1

Hi all,

Nothing much to say, but haven't posted in so long that I thought I would today.

Nan, my heart goes out to you. It is so hard to get over the loss of someone that you love and admire so much. I'm still struggling with my Grandad some days....wishing I could have been there more instead of so far away in AZ. I just try to hold on to the good memories when I start feeling sad, but you still have a ways to go....its still so recent.

Kris- hope Jack (and Dan) are feeling better. I think seeing little ones sick is so scary because they're always to alive and energetic that we sometimes forget how very fragile they can be.

Tig- tell Brittany that her hair looks great! I'm sure it looks even better with the red in it. One of my students did a similar hairstyle with red in it this year. She has dark hair like Brittany, and it looks really stylish.

Aisling- you'll have a blast at WDW over the 4th. We've been at that time twice now, and love it. Have you ever been at that time before? The heat is a little much at times, but we always nap at the hottest part of the day. The great thing about the Poly is that you can watch fireworks from the Magic Kingdom....no music, but it has a certain charm of its own even without the music.

Everything is fine with this little baby in my tummy. I can't wait to find out what it is! I may be able to find out at my next ultrasound even though it will only be 12-13 weeks, but they are also doing some genetic testing, and I think some of those tests can tell what gender the baby is. I've been feeling pretty good, although I'm finding it hard to eat during the day. I get really hungry at night, though. Just mild nausea, but have been really tired these past 2 weeks. I can't wait until my stomach really looks like a pregnant tummy and not just a chubby girl tummy :)

Hi Jill, Chicken, Wick, Grim, Lynn...anyone else I missed!

Bye for now

HI all:

Colleen: thanks for that. I so needed to see hear and feel that ocean breeze, your picture made it complete in mind when I closed my eyes after I saw it.

Yesterday was beautiful. Paul made a wonderful slide show with great music of pictures of Dad. He also wrote and read a truth telling verse called Don's Hats. I grab it and post from his computer later, I think youd like it. The armed services arrived and played Taps and gave my mom the flag. So touching. I've never seen this in person before, just on tv. So to have this event in front of me for the honor of my father was overwhelming and very comforting. Much love was shared by all our family yesterday. I have beautiful pictures of the tulips, which will forever now be called Dad's tulips. I'll load them up later from my desk.

I was most touched by how many of my mommy friends came to the service. I know we all love and care for each other, but these kind of things are hard to do on Saturday afternoon when you have kids. A few of the kids came in support of Molly and Wilson too. I'm so blessed to have such good friends.

Today we had a family breakfast, with my Aunt and Uncle and cousins from Pasadena, then mom and I worked on thank you cards for all who helped us out for the service.

Now I should be out working for I have a meeting tomorrow at 9am, but not an ounce of energy to get prepared for it. Hopefully it will spring to me late tonight or I'll be up at your dawn to prepare then.

I think we have decided to let mom travel back up home solo and have her time to grieve in peace without pestering kids and grandkids around. That means that we have a few days to our selves end of the month when the kids have school winter break and of course that means I'm back on my Dland trip idea. I better book a room soon or we'll be in our van for sleep.

Molly is back from Brownies gotta run,

Nan

OMG Nan!

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes, grateful I could help you escape out onto the ocean~and then laughing soooo outloud how you snuck in that trip to DisneyLand

Only you :)

I may be 3000 miles away from you but you are forever in my heart...you need to call me during the fireworks when you get there ;)

Hugs to everyone else...just like Nan you are ALL in my heart and now a permanent part of my life. I am so proud to have met you and to hear of all the sorrow and happiness you endure each day.

OH, Nan, I can relate, somewhat. Today was exhausting, and I am overwhelmed with catching up. I notice that I am not my happy optimistic self, but a bit stressed and down. Sympathy cards brought me to tears today. Thought those were mostly done. I'm sure it will take you much longer.
Many, many prayers & hugs... :grouphug:

Not much else...Jack home AGAIN today w/ low grade temp. Luckily MIL was OK w/ taking him. (a little snuggler might be just what she needed) He wants to go to daycare tomorrow since they will have their Valentine's Party, though!

Not much else. Too pooped to type.

Night.
Kris

PS Aisling, Tig & Jill--I'm surprised we haven't heard more about the weather in your area...!!?? :confused3 :teeth:

PSS You can read my review of our cruise at cruisecritic.com. I think I did a decent job...wish I was on one now... pixiedust:

You'll never guess? I took pictures! :duck:

Work's been busy, I just had my dinner, can't go right to bed so I DIS~ :surfweb:

badgers hmmm....I still can't figure out that snake...Aisling, ya got that one?

Kris: Thanks for the thoughts, I'm bouncing mine your way. Seems like is just going to be a bit sad for a while. We heard yesterday that the wife of a friend of Paul's passed. She had a brain tumor and battled it for about 4 years. Sadder of course than my lot, they have 2 young daughters.

It's Valentine's Day, again good plans out there? Wouldn't it be a fun time to be on the ship??? Okay any time is fun, but a holiday is just more special, don't ya think? I'm going to Molly's class with cookies & juice this afternoon, shame on me not wanting to go to kindergarden...It's more fun with the older kids for me and today I'm just grabbing some me time.

So we talked about Dland end of the month, but Paul asked if we could go somewhere different. So I think we may head up the coast to Mendecino. It's a northern California coastal town about 4 hours north. Very peaceful. We have stayed at an inn that invite four legged friends. I'll call them today to see what they have availble.

Just got a call from my mom. She has decided to head home today. So I got the girl scout cookies together for her. She is taking them to the nurses at the hospital. Oh my now the worrying for her begins. It's a long drive home. She is going to stay for a few weeks and then come back and stay with us for a few weeks. Miss Molly is going to share her room. We're going to get a trundle for them to share. Please keep mom in your prayers I'm sure she is in for some long and loney time up there in the mountains. I hope she can have some peace.

Best get ready to see her,

Nan

Aisling - Yikes! You logged on to Wick's computer? Don't you know that is the modern day equivilent of a mom looking under her son's mattress? You've got no one to blame but yourself if you found things you wish you hadn't have found.

So what did everyone do for vday? We tried going out to dinner, but Willy was so crabby that we came home. He spoiled it.

Nan has been real sad this evening - so she has gone to bed early.

Well - that's all the news from here for now.

Talk to you all later -
