Christmas Cruising 2005

We lost connectivity last night....happened about 7pm....we lost email and internet. Pretty freaky since Paul had a Board meeting with a client today (my client too) and I couldn't send my financials....I ended up faxing them over this morning. I was very sad not DISing last night.....and this morning.....I then decided to call SBC (DSL provider) and while I'm looking around for the modem I see this little plug has wiggled loose...sure enough a plug was wiggled loose, that was the problem. So stupid....but now we are up again...nice I could share my little drama with you all....back to work...

Tigg: With the business being bought will you still have your job??? Or this is the store you(your boss) is buying???Do I have it backwards? So, actually you have more work than ever.

I think that link was for good dates, at least we know Smash Mouth is for this year. I saw it somewhere else too.

okay really gotta get to work now,

N

I believe it is a combination of 2004 & 2005. The main ones we were interested in was cirque & smash mouth & they are 2005.

Well, it looks like my DH won't be coming with us on the cruise. Mel has been hinting for a while that he really didn't want to go, and he couldn't see spending the money when he'd rather stay home and relax on his vacation. He's not into Disney, but has always come with us as a family because of the kids. But now that the kids are bigger, he thinks he should be able to stay home from Disney if he wants to. I was so mad, I called my dad, and my dad said to give him a break, let him have his week in peace the way he wants to do it and not force him to go with us. The kids don't mind, and I know the three of us will have a good time either way, but I feel bad that we won't have a formal family photo on formal night!!!! He says we'll go have one done "at Sears" :rotfl: But Mickey and Minnie won't be there! Oh well. So that's my news. The bum! (But I still :lovestruc him, he's a good guy.)

Aisling,

Sorry for the disappointing news.

I can tell you from experience that if a person doesn't want to be there, you all will have more fun this way.

The long term solution, of course, is for you to tell the amazing, exciting, terrific stories about the blast you had and all the cool people you met!

Listen to your Dad. Let him sit this one out.

Yours,

Jim

Aisling: Such news!!! Did you have any idea that he would bail? Are you bummed to be alone for the Xmas part of vacation? I understand the lack of Dis thing. Paul I think humors me only because the kids are little. He really isn't the kind of guy to enjoy it either, but the kids are little and he knows that for now the vacations are more fun if he caves in and joins us. He did stay home twice this summer while we went with out him. I also mentioned that if I find good summer airfare I'd take the kids alone back to WDW, next summer, he was non plused about that idea. I figure I better just go completely overboard with it now while I can as I'm sure as we "grow up" my chance will be lost.

Now, not to worry about him not there because you have all of us to hang with anyways...remember we are the PPC. princess: and we will take care of another. That goes for Palo's dinings too, I'm sure we can squeeze one more at the table, we just have to make sure we get the ressies fixed once we board.

No mail yet huh????I can't wait to hear you laugh when you open it :banana: :rotfl2: :banana: :rotfl:

So I've ebayed a bit latey, got another Minnie Mouse foldable hat, some mickey mouse club totes(for the kids, that I'm planning on dropping at GS for signing) and a set of autogragh boxes for Halloween trip. Just dawned on me I better pay for them now, so they can ship and be here. That trip will be here before we know it.

I now need to find my dress for Xmas!!!! Please send me some :wizard: for good luck. A friend offered to come out and shop with me, not sure if I'd do better alone or with a friend. Oh, I wish it could just fall in my lap and fit this lugo body I have.

Well, I guess that's it.

3x....Good Luck!!!! I've been thinking about you & sis hope you guys are well!

Oh my gosh! I just won a foldable Minnie Mouse hat on ebay today! I wonder if we were bidding on the same lot! my ebay name is princess_sp, what's yours?

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

Aisling, I'm so sorry that your husband bailed on the cruise. I know how hard it is to be away from your hubby at Christmas (been there, done that), but at least you'll have a wonderful cruise to keep you occupied! :sunny:

I got my wig today for my pirate night costume. I'm going as the redhead from Pirates of the Caribbean ride("we wants the redhead"). I tried it on and confirmed that red is just not my color...makes my skin look yellow, but it will be fine for one night. I actually wish I had as much hair as that darn wig does!

I'm going to start packing for my Disneyland trip next week, and when we come back from that I can start packing for the cruise. yay! It will be here before we know it! We have our first yearbook deadline on December 1st, so that will keep me really busy, and then it will be time for the cruise shortly after.

Well, I'm off to pack!
Bye Everyone! :wave:

:( I'm very sad to hear this...but I do have a solution for you :)

If the dilemma is a family photo? Have all your outfits and family together for our November 27th meet and I will take your family photo for you. I will go one step further and offer the addition of a cruise background. (Which would be completed for you after the cruise of course ;) )

I accept this news quite easily because my husband is alot like yours. In a good way.

Mel, I look forward to meeting you. I hope you change your mind and come with us. This could well be a dream of a vacation for you and your wife - if you back out now you'll never know.
princess: pirate: pirate: pirate: :boat:

Dede, I had a thought on your Red Head, in that era they "powdered" their faces. Have you tried that with some really red lipstick and long balck eyelashes?

Like I said, :crazy: just a thought. :)

~~~
Nan, We're buying them - and yes, disgustingly busy! Danny's buying a five million dollar business...it's going to be a true adventure. I'm enjoying being a part of it :teeth:
Christmas is going to be ungodly busy, Danny tried to tell me he was cancelling my vacation....yeah RIGHT...he knows that NOTHING will stop me from going on this cruise!
I'll be checking my TKer thread and heading to bed. Elisabeth is here - she was exhausted. Not too happy to hear she has to go to school tomorrow either. Yup! She's normal!
Dede:
Here's the item #5430030730 I won....Are we going to be twins???
I couldn't find you on ebay, I think the lookup is really only for sellers....unless you know something I don't know....
Bright and Sunny :sunny: here today, perfect fall No. Cal weather, the dog(s) says take me for a walk again...too bad I can't understand dog talk huh? :dog: :dog2:
Working hard to get my desk clear today, so I better stick with it.
C ya,
Nan
Aisling: Such news!!! Did you have any idea that he would bail?
I had an idea, because he'd been hinting at it for months, but I didn't think he'd actually bail. As for Christmas, I feel worse for him than for me and the kids...to least we'll be together in a festive place, but Mel will be alone. :guilty: His family lives overseas, and my family is spread out. But it's his choice. Last night he joked that he was the Grinch. He does have my brother who lives nearby, and are they've been friends longer than I've even known him, and he has his tennis buds, and he had his plasma TV, and he has a Chinese take-out around the corner, so what more could he ask for! :rotfl: It's just going to be weird not being all together for Christmas, but I was planning on having a pre-Christmas Christmas dinner/party, so that should make me feel a little better.
Dede, you're even wearing a wig??? Wow, you two don't do things half way! I've sort of had my costume since I first booked the cruise, bought a beautiful pirate blouse on ebay that I was going to wear with tight black pants and black kitten heeled shoes..ya know, a hoochie pirate lady. But now I have a more fun idea, and you'll all have to wait until you see me! It's going to be so much fun! I just got a thought...maybe that's what scared Mel away, that swashbuckler costume I bought him with the ruffled shirt and ponytail wig! :rotfl2:
Nan, nothing in the mail yet!
I can't wait to hear you laugh when you open it
Now you have me scared! :p
Tig, is Elisabeth an exchange student?
Sharon, what's your crew doing for Pirate Night?
Yes, Elisabeth is our exchange student.
We have her at our house for the next 17 days. She is from Austria - home of Arnold Schwartzenegger. Hubby's nervous having to take care of two teenage girls while I am away but I have faith that they will survive without me. Even tho he thinks he won't :rolleyes:
Like I said earlier, I understand his decision, Mel is alot like my John.
Who's gonna bike with the boys? Will they do that excursion without their Dad?
Today is John's birthday! We're having family over for cake tonight.
Only one more full day and I'm headed HOME! (I wish it were my home)
:cool1:
while I am away
That's right, I forgot, you're leaving for WDW, you lucky :dog: !!!!!!! Say a big WOO HOO for me when you pass through the Walt Disney World sign!
:rockband: Happy Birthday to John!!! :jumping1: :drinking1 I'll have a cold one in your honor this evening! ;)
Who's gonna bike with the boys? Will they do that excursion without their Dad?
Chad is still doing it, but Jesse isn't. Jesse wasn't too keen on it anyway, but he was going to do it to be with his bro and dad. Now that Mel isn't going ( :badpc: <-----insert Mel here), I want Chad to be able to really get into it and enjoy himself without having to worry about Jesse making it for 35 miles. So Chad'll do it with a group of new friends. The only other option was for me to go with them, so Jesse and I can struggle together, but...what's that saying again...oh yeah...hell no! :rotfl:
DD15 *refuses* to dress up, DBF is still wondering "what all the excitement is about" (just pay for the cruise, dear. I'll provide all the excitiment I need"), but I am getting decked out!
So he's really set on the 35 mile one huh???? Too bad, Paul said he wouldn't make 35 miles on a vacation trip...too much work. Again, if he changes his mind and wants to ride with the old man let me know. I'm leaving him signed up for it now, if we need to cancel we can closer to the date.
Don't worry they won't bite too hard... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Nan
but I am getting decked out!
Sharon, good for you girl!!!!
Don't worry they won't bite too hard...
:scared1:
I'll let you know. We haven't reserved yet...can't until Monday, so we'll see. I think 35 miles is too much for a one-day excursion, so I'm going to have a talk with Chad about this.
Hi Everyone! :wave2:
Hey Tig~ I just got the wig yesterday, but I like your thoughts on how to make me look more like a floosie. :p
I'll have to head to my neighborhood Walgreens and look for some fake eyelashes and powder!
Happy Birthday Mr Tig (John)! :banana:
Aisling~ we don't normally get this gung ho about dressing up, but Grim really love pirates, and so we decided to get decked out for the cruise. I have a feeling that Grim will be taking every opportunity to dress up in his pirate costume pirate: Argh!
Well, grades are due next week, and I'll be in Disneyland, so I have to work on them now!
Bye Everyone! :wave:
::MinnieMo Dede princess:
Aisling - I am sorry about your news. WE will make it as merry as we can!!! :grouphug: Happy Birthday, John!!! :bday: Tig have a wonderful, fabulous, marvelous trip. :thewave: Dede - if you get false eyelashes, you will need to trim the inside part of the lash (I can show you what I mean on the ship) - trust me I have worn them on stage.
Thank you, all my dear friends, for your support because Mel's not coming with us. You really are a bunch of generous, kind, sincerely good people. Tig, your offer to photograph us just about made me cry. And Nan reminding me that the PPC takes care of their own, and Jim's wise words, and Dede's and Karen's warmth...thank you all so much. I don't want to keep harping on it, that he's not coming, but I did want to take a moment to tell you all how lucky I am to know you. :grouphug:
Kris, Jill, where are you?? Kandice, Shelly, Tori, Dan, Lynn, ColKath, do you all realize it's only 2 months 2 weeks away!! Imagine when we're down to one week, it's going to be crazy on this thread, with everyone doing last minute things, and seeing who'll be the first to leave. Have you read any of the other cruise meet threads? I generally only read the ends, to see how they sign off one by one, "on our way to the Magic", etc. It's very exciting. :boat:
On a serious note, there's some concern that there may be a terrorist bombing on the subway in 19 places here at the same time. This is what our Mayor has told us on TV today, and for the first time since 9/11, I'm nervous about it. Chad rides the subway everyday to get to St. Francis, which is right across the street from the NY Supreme Court. Very scary. I'll never forget the sky all black and then white from ash that burned our throats, and covered my windows. I pray nothing happens. When 9/11 happened, the ash was everywhere, and I went close to ground zero and scooped up some ash right off the street. I'm not sure what made me do it, it wasn't something morbid, but more like I felt like I had to save something, I think. So hard to explain or even understand myself. So I have a ziplock bag filled with 9/11 ash, and that's all that's left of those two buildings and all those people. Someday, I'm going to take out that bag and show my grandchildren and tell them what happened and how their daddies Chad and Jesse had to run out of their schools and I couldn't find Chad because of the police blocking off the streets, and my next door neighbor who had to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge covered in ash from head to toe, no shoes on, and all she could say was it's terrible it's terrible it's terrible, like she was in shock.
How the heck did I get into this anyway! I'm sorry gang, Mayor Bloomberg shook me up, gave me flashbacks, but I put it away and look ahead to seeing the ship for the first time.
Isn't there a spot during the drive to the port where you suddenly see the Magic in the distance? I may have to jump up and do a little dance when I see it, so please be fore-warned! :banana:
On whatever route the Disney bus takes, as soon as the pre-cruise video on the bus ends, the Magic appears right in front of you. It makes me *tingle* just thinking aobut it.
Sorry to hear about your DH, but....an *absent* DH is better than a *miserable* DH.
Aisling:
Okay, about collecting ash, I did the same thing, in a small ziplock baggie, when we had a big fire close to our house at a newly contructed mall. It was the week before Molly started kindergarden, she and I were at the mall (which is a 5 minute or less drive away from our house) we just finished shopping and while walking towards the car I looked over the roof of the mall to see a HUGE cloud of black smoke. It took 45 minutes to get home. Wilson was at home with our nanny and all the neighbors were using hoses to water down our roofs. The embers were flying from the fire into our driveway. When I got home I collected those embers, I think to remind me of how lucky we were not to have our house caught on fire. Now after all that a few weeks ago in a cleaning spree (ha ha ha, like I ever have those) I tossed the ziplock baggie. Too much clutter in my life.... I think you should save yours, 9/11 is history, the Santana Row fire was not.Just wanted you to know that I totally get saving something like ash, it was the only thing that was tangible that day of my fear. It was so hard being away from Wilson and being so darn close at the same time.
I'm keeping you in NY in my prayers, it's a hard reality of our lives now that we have to be vigilant about making sure we watch to be safe.
Okay, next topic. We spent the night in Half Moon Bay, we looked at 5 houses. Interesting, how Paul saw one house as "too clean" for us. I actually really liked it. We both liked another one, but the bottom line to the night was that we can't afford to move into a house that we would want to stay in forever. We are looking at the possibilty of a exchanging a rental house we have for a duplex, might share it with sis. So for now...still looking.
Happy Birthday John, I hope Tigg gets ya a good bottle on wine :cool1:
Off to the tv zone,
Nan
