Christmas Cruising 2005

Poll Time!

We need a time for our swap!

I planned on using the Promenade Lounge~ We could also use the time right after sail away - I'll go to our room and get the boxes and meet everyone in the lounge. We could all have a celebration, sailaway, christmas eve cocktail (or beverage of your choice) and shove off in grand celebration of our Magical Gathering :boat:

Sound Good people?

I like the Promenade Lounge idea, since there will be seats. Right after sailaway is good. As long we don't miss the sailaway party, and the when-you-wish-upon-a-star horn. That would bring us to around 5:30 PM, I think. I think it would be enough time to do our meet, and then for the early diners to get ready for their dinner.

I was thinking of before sailaway, but many of us may be busy with ressies, exploring their rooms/the ship, and eating lunch.

So the Promenade Lounge at 5:50 with libations in hand on sailaway day. How does that sound?

I will make 5:50 official swap time, earlier if everybody gets there sooner...Since Nan took the time to tag all the boxes it'll be easy for everyone to grab theirs, propose that toast and head off to our respective dinners/shows.

Kris:Cameras - Mine (a good one) Molly's (a cheapie one) and Wilson's (a really cheapie Disney one that came as part of his Dis computer) Yes it does seem like a lot but I want Molly's just in case my takes a dump on me. Forever the over planner that's me :rotfl2:

We got the kids cruise suitcase packed today. I'm so organized it's kinda sick. But I have to confess that by sticking each day in a gallon zip lock (per kid) Paul now agrees that he can get the kids dressed in the morning on vacation without bugging me to death about what socks or underwear goes with what.

Okay now for all my freaking out over the clothes thing, I found another dress!!! It's green with sparkles. Paul liked it so, it's now my semi-formal dress. I'm excited. Molly has a cute one that will compliment it and the boys are going to wear Xmas (mickey) sweaters and khakis. I love it wehn a plan comes together.

The weather is starting to worry me. I'm not sure that we'll be able to wear our matching Disney outfits (sleeveless dresses for me and Molly) unless it's warm enough.

Also shouldn't those cruise docs show up here soon? Leaving in 13 days. I'm calling them on Monday.

Better clear off the bed from the packing....not to worry I took some pics of the chaos. I'll loadup 'em up in the next few days.

Hope things are going well for you all, nite nite,

Nan

Sorry I forgot...Totally good for the toast/swap, drinks in hand ready to go 5:50pm...I'll be noting the spreadsheet.

Sorry I didn't pop back in yesterday...I was wiped by noon! I finished The Da Vinci Code (certainly a thought-provoking book!), took a nap, got up and plopped on the couch to watch the WDW Food TV holiday special...COOL! Dinner, then back in front of the TV--SO unlike me! But BITTER cold here yesterday and the next few--YUK! And my mom calls me from the RCI Vision of the Seas yesterday--not once, but TWICE! I wish I was there!
Aisling...I think I bought 200 tanning minutes for $30 last year, and you have 2 years to use them...so I don't even think I will use them all up for this cruise! (I'm only up to 8 min. on the lowest setting!) I have a touch of color...but it does seem to help keep the burning at bay. I'm a bit more worried about the kids, but they all tan like Dan anyway.
Nan--GOT the camera thing; I will have my digital, plus the kids each have a disposable, plus 2 underwater cameras...SO I guess I'm bringing 6!
Also--honey, you are in the Caribbean, it will be warm! BRING those sleeveless dresses! (but have a light jacket just in case!)
Well, work is nuts, too, so better head.
Have a great day everyone!
Kris
Jill--love the dress! I'd love a new one, but it looks like the same ones from the last cruise...not like anyone but Dan has seen them! (and frankly he likely has no memory of them anyway!)

They tell me the sent them via UPS on Friday and to expect them on Wednesday.....I'll let ya know....

Now, to call Shirley...Oh too many last minute thigns to do....

Migraine hit right after my earlier post...
Asked secretary to get sub...
by time sub got there, not too bad...
pretty good now.
Hmmmm...free half day off...gonna try to get some errands run!
Not such a bad thing!
Had some loose ends that it will be nice to have off my list!
So, we should have our docs late this week or eary next..
Only TWO weekends left!!!! WOO HOO!
Kris

Kris, I hope you're feeling better. :flower2:

And Lynn, how excited you must be! You're the first of us who gets to do the doc dance! :cool1: Nan, you should be next. I know I don't have to tell you to post ASAP when your docs come!

Got all my tips enveloped and marked who gets what. I did this about 6 months ago, but dipped and dipped until nothing was left. This time, there's no touching that money until I hand it over to the servers/stateroom host. I also went to the bank and got $100 worth of singles. I have a feeling I'm over the top with this one, but I got a $100 bill for my birthday and decided to hang on to it for the cruise. I won't need that much for individual tips, will I?

Am I the only one who feels that this cruise is costing more than planned?

Can't we book our tips at Guest Services against our room charge???? I hate the idea of having to bring cash for that. room charge my way to pretend it isn't real money....

Kris: Glad you recovered. Let's make an oath "we hereby now and forever forbid a migraine to join us on the ship and if one should stowaway we will promptly thrown it overboard with what ever means are necessary."

Paul's bday today. Gotta go get the kids bathed and dressed up pretty for our annual visit to Santa @ the Mall. We do this every year on his bday, just seems right. Then to dinner.

See ya later tonight maybe...

I just watched this video of a Diser's embarkation, and I got all crybabyish and so excited! No kidding! Especially the part when they do the countdown and blow the mickey whistle and the party music begins, OMG I'm going to be crying my eyes out! I just wanted to warn you, in case you think I'm unstable. It's going to be fantastic!

Please watch this video and tell me if you feel the same way! And seeing Captain Mickey in the terminal...ok go see for yourself! It's too much!

That's a lot of 'All Hands on Deck' cheese platters!

No, no you're not (as I type this recovering from the shock of spending $70 on a new pair of tux shoes that I will only wear a few times in my life, and over $600 on tickets for 2 to WDW).

Bring on the Drink of the Day!!!!

Hope you saved a little money for your drinks & the store shopping & palo & the internet & if you use the phone & laundry & maybe I should hush. :dog2:

You do have a credit card, don't you? :rolleyes1

Happy B'day Paul

Happy Birthday, Paul! :bounce:

Jill, I'm going to bubble wrap as many wine coolers as can fit in my suitcase!!
The phone bill is probably what's going to kill me. I'm doing the $89 internet, well Chad has to pay for it, so I have to be strict and limit the phone calls back to his girlfriend.

Ok, laundry...from now until we cruise, I'm saving every quarter I get. I know, I'm pathetic.

Thank goodness for my credit card, but it's bursting at the seams. I'm not regreting this big expense at all. My brother has a beautiful home, I mean unbelieveably grand, with electronic everything, plasma tvs for his kids, you get the picture. But they've never been on a vacation before as a family. No kidding. Their kids have never been to WDW, but they have Italian granite countertops. To each his own, but I'll take my formica countertops (which look pretty doggone good) and spend the bulk of my savings on making memories with my kids. And meeting great friends like all of you!

Hear hear Aisling you think like me... I can't believe I got my docs first!!!

Grim: Only $600, we got ya beat there by a cool $2K+ for our tickets. Wondering if they will arrive soon....I hope!!!!

About those shoes. I'm getting really frustrated that Wilson doesn't have the proper shoes for all his cool cruise wear. I must find him topsiders.

Nice clip Aisling, I still have those techno difficulties and see these clips with black lines running thru them. I think I don't have the software downlaoded right here. I'm totally going to have Paul have the video camera ready and going for the boarding, do you think those people will be able to say our last name right??? Skjerven???

We cut our evening short tonight. Went and got the Santa pictures done, but got dinner togo. Just couldn't do an out evening on a Monday night with the kids (read between the lines....they would not coorporate with good behaviour) Just got served a bowl of spagetti, I better go and serve him it's his bday!!!

N

p.s. I think we need to have a drink of the day count down..I'm starting tonight its a cold frosty beer. Drink up all.
