Aisling - We're in!!!!. We will be at the AKL on the 23rd He did ask me if I worked a McD & I said yes. In the middle of the conversation he asked what I did & I told him "I just work the counter" Sounds official, huh.

Jill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO freaking excited! (I'm sorry I've been using that bad word a lot lately, but I can't freaking help it!!!)

When I called, the CM didn't even ask me if I worked there. When I called the second time for info for you and Grim, the lady CM said it didn't even matter. All they need is for you to ask for the rate. Your CM was probably just making conversation, because they don't need that info for the ressie.

Grim, stop flipping Big Macs for a second and make the call!!

Kris, Happy Anniversary to your parents. And I wish you a fun fun fun party! About the poker, please promise me you'll teach me how to play. That sh** on your neighbor version sounds !!!


Now I'm going over to visit my friend Casey. He had both eyes done yesterday for cataracts, and is joking that he's going to see for the first time what I really look like. Of course I'm gonna put on those plastic glasses with the fake mustache and nose!

We got AKL for the 23rd...since the gilrs and I are flying in a couple days early I plan on being at the lodge first thing that day.

~If we stay at Aunt E's house it's a hour-and-a-half ride in the AM to get to AKL~

I wanna make ressies for the AKL restaurant (not home so I have no idea what the name of it is ) Mom said she could be in town for it.

Nan: next on my list is to find out what section of the hotel you're gonna be in so I can put our request in and be in the same area of the hotel...if you don't have anything specific I'll research the best areas and then let everyone know what section to have put on your ressies...

Boma & Jiko are the restaurants-Boma is the normal and Jiko is the dressy one.

Mara is their counter service restaurant...

Here's the layout of the lodge - I'd like to have us each request our rooms close to each other...since Nan is concierge, I wanna wait and see where she's gonna be and plan around that if it's ok with everyone else.

The three restaurants are The Mara (counter service), Jiko (upscale), and Boma (Casual sit-down). I'm gonna post some of my AKL pics. Gotta plug in my scanner.

Zebra Trail, as far out as you can get, this way you have no rooms opposite you across the horseshoe-shape. But that's a savannah view. We have a standard this time. Zebra Trail is closest to the pool, the restaurants, the Zawadi store, and bar, and the bus stop.
I'm going to check over on the resorts board about standard rooms, but honestly, I don't care which room we get. The whole place is gorgeous.

Here's a night-view from our balcony. We booked standard, but were surprised with a savana view. I stepped out on the balcony and gasped when I saw these giraffs right outside our room.

Party was REALLY fun! Stuffed ourselves silly...apparently I think I'm on the cruise this weekend! Great, and my annual is this week...had hoped to be lighter! Oh, well!
We played a bit of Texas Hold 'Em w/ the whole family...my dad was the lucky one! No $, we just give everyone chips & when you run out, you just get more or take a stack from whoever has the most! But my dad, who is usually asleep my 8PM, was up until 10PM! Happy Anniversary Daddy!
It is nice that the kids are getting older and we can teach them the joys of gambling...wait, I mean game playing!!!! (we do like to play a wide variety of games here, not just ones that people have a tendency to gamble!) A deck of cards can easily be taken on a cruise, not too many other games have that advantage!
Well, last day of vaca I am SUCH a whiner about this! Gonna try to get my list of things done today...nothing major...iron work clothes (though this week I will still be in shorts since no kids)...clean out photo files on computer...a few other loose ends...hang w/ the neighbors tonight on driveway. Weather looks spectacular for the next 10 days...
BUT first Husker football game is next Saturday! WOO HOO! We have struggled a bit the last few years, but it is ALWAYS a good party! In fact, better than when I was in college! There was no tailgating allowed then! Now we rival the best!
AND that means we are getting closer and closer to the CRUISE!
I'm not whining any more!!!!!!!
