Christmas Cruise 2005!!!

HI
I am in process of reading the past posts. They are very interesting. I hope we can keep this thread going to the last day.

A question was asked about partying as a group & when.

The cruise I was on had several dis parties. The night before everybody met at the Radisson & some one brought green leis & someone made magnets to id their dis thread. & they had smoothies. The next day they all met at a certain time in the promenade lounge to meet each other. Also, during the cruise there were a couple of getogethers at the pool.

There was a question about traveling from the airport to the ship. One thing about letting Disney do it - it is done by them & there is nothing to worry about. Before my cruise I said the next cruise I would do my own booking. Well, because of Francis we were out at sea an extra 3 days. Let me tell you I never saw sooo many cell phones being used at one time trying to make new reservations. & there was nothing they could do until we got close to a signal. But, by Disney doing it they made the flight plans & if we had to go to a hotel no matter how many nights we were stuck they would have covered it. If it wasn't booked by them they would have paid only one night & you were on your own for the rest. All I had to do was call work & tell them when I thought I would make it back. Believe me I will pay the extra to have nooo worries.

I booked my reservation for the 1st cruise thru SATO. Franco will probably know what that is. On McGuire AFB there is a travel agency & you could get a fair discount & they were great. I asked them if they would do bookings for civilians - they said if they could get on base they would accomadate them. Plus, we got an upgrade from Disney to a cat 5 from a 7. For this cruise we got the 10% + $200 credit for booking on board. Plus, they transfered the booking to whatever agent you wanted. Of course I had them send it to SATO. This cruise is more expensive because of the time of year but you only live once so what the hell.

Some one asked about lines for things. I booked my excursions 30 days out. Anything I wanted done at the Guest services I did whenever everyone else was in bed (It's 24/7) that was especially good for getting the tip cards & checking your bill. Booking the next cruise - while everyone else was at early dinner or at a show she wasn't very busy. The advise given early on for Palo & massages seems to be what everyone says to do.

If you have late dinner. You can swim in the afternoon or do your excursion. catch a show & still have an hour before dinner. That gave me plenty of time to dress. Plus, after dinner the kids go do their thing & the adults go to the club. The only time I saw lines that would interfere with all this was if you wanted formal pictures or signatures. The lines there were forever. The first time I got caught in one of those lines I thought it was the line for Lumieres.

Well I've said more than enough. TTFN

Jill, not to go on to much about my PTSD, but after 30+ years of not knowing what the heck was going on with me I came back to the VA. And I flew through the system, one of the doctors called me the poster boy for it (heavy combat, wounds, medals) so I have only been in the system a couple of years. O.K. enough of that, what I am getting at is what is SATO? Could you give me some info? I only found out about SOG two years ago so I am a rookie at other benefits we can use. And no I have not seen the suites at SOG but the rooms are huge biggest on proberty I heard. And to the rest of you nice people on our tread, I promise not to bring up the military again! Thank you kindly! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

Hi

SATO used to be the official travel agency. At McGuire they just became SATO/ITT. In Europe a lot of the travel is strictly ITT (Information Travel Ticket)

Jill

I'm thrilled to report that I just received my pink Princess flip flops that I won on Ebay, and packed them away for our cruise!

I will have the whole family looking for them! Should not be hard to miss!! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

I can't wait to get to WDW this December, I'm gonna find me a Tigger Christmas hat to wear at this year's MVMCP and next year's cruise!

Now if only I could find a dress to match:scratchin

Colleen, I found these Tiggerish clothes for you on Ebay! You have the blouse, the jacket, the skirt, and the bag. With the hat you'll buy at WDW, you have your semi-formal outfit for the Magic!

Colleen

Can't wait to see your tigger outfit

By the way what do you think about SOG for NYE?

Aisling-My fashion advisor recommends I only get the jacket and wear it with black slacks-& I like the purse! (Unfortunatley:rolleyes: ) I'll not be buying a new outfit just yet. My daughter and I will start shopping after the holidays for our formal & semi-formal outfits.

I just sent my payment for 2 nights in Coronado Springs for this December!:Pinkbounc :hyper: :Pinkbounc ,our MVMCP tickets have arrived in the mail...the only item left on my agenda is to book the hotel for our trip down (yes, we're driving.) I should probably make that phone call today:scratchin

Yes Mom, I like the idea of staying at SOG for NYE.
Aisling, decide where you're staying yet?
Franco56, you'll be at SOG right?
Anyone else staying? What park would you do? If not a park then how about PI for the "real" NYE?

We're staying at WL after the cruise, and I'm not sure if we're going to have park tickets for NYE. I'm wondering, can we get into PI with kids? My youngest will be 13 by then.
We've never been at WDW for NYE before, so I'm reading all the ideas I can find. I'd love to be at MK for the stroke of midnight, but I've heard that if you're not in the park by noon, you can't get in at all, since they close it due to capacity. And the thought of being at MK for 12 straight hours in a massive crowd doesn't appeal to me at all! So I'll see what everyone else does, and get ideas!

Hi Aisling,
PI usually has a hard-ticket event on NYE for 21 years and older. Tickets are around $80 each.

Thought you all might enjoy a little bit of paradise...

Hi grim, where've you been??
Thanks for the beautiful and inviting photo. Wow.

It's too bad we can't get into PI, but I'm looking into 2 or 3 day park hoppers, even though they're difficult to find. I have a long time to figure something out for NYE.

Boy are we READY! Busy, Busy around here. First, let me say that my mom has Alziemers, and has been in a nursing home for about two months and she was misable there, So, my awesome family DW, and two stepsons and myself decided to have her come live with us. DW is from a large Brazilian family and did not hesitate to say yes and the boys treat her with respect and love. She has her on room that we did over with her favorite things and she is happy, happy! DW is working hard all the time, Leonardo (14) is busy with school and freshman football and Daniel (10) school and basketball. I'm the house dad and even I'm busy! So, at night we all look at each other and say IS IT TIME TO GO YET!!!!! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

Hello out there, where is everybody? Come on people I need info!! So what if we have 10,296 hours to go, I need to learn from you pros!! Thank You kindly!!!! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

Hi Franco,

Did you say your crew was staying at SOG after our cruise?

~We'll be in our SOG suite 43 days from now~
I found pictures of it on a link from wdwig, it looks huge!

I don't know anything about SOG, but I just wanted to say that Christmas is coming, and when it's over, the real countdown begins! It'll be less than a year.
I've been reading the cruise board, and according to a poll, onboard expenses average over $1000! That concerns me, and I'm still trying to figure out how that can be. I guess excursions are part of that amount, I don't know. But I'm thinking of choosing only one excursion, either St. M or St. T, but not both. One thing I'm definitely doing is the banana boat on CC! I've been reading the reports and it looks like a hilarious ride! Anyone want to join me?? I'll be laughing my head off!

Colleen, lucky you, going to WDW!
