My husband travels constantly with the navy. Get a passport. He has spoken to several officials. We will need one. They won't let you board the ship without one!!!!!!!!! :)

:wave2: I'll take your word for it...

We'll get them.

 Now....where to start????

A radio station in Omaha has this hysterical Friday montage that just gets me and the kids giggling as we head into school. It is this kooky song called "Toast"(Harrison Banks), then "The Man Song" (Shawn Morey)--a song about how relationships REALLY are :rotfl: , then a sporty compilation, then a "Thank goodness it's Friday" montage. We LIVE for this fun, upbeat Friday tradition. Would love to get it on CD. May be able to this summer. It sure is nice to come into work giddy on Friday mornings!
Considering the passport thing--I'm sticking with the ideas that I am NOT investing $500 because they are nice to have. BUT if I find we need them, I will get them, or if things aren't final by fall, I may bite the bullet and get them so we aren't stuck. But still waiting for that official ruling--seems TAs are reacting personally. MIL's TA told her everyone NEEDS one. So TAs aren't necessarily the experts. It pays to be informed!
Crazy weekend here---everyone enjoy the weather!
Jill-DEFINITELY enjoy that bike!
Kristin
:wave2:
PS Tigger--DS loved your group of mousketeers!

DCL says you do NOT need one, even for our cruise, at this time. They will inform us when (if ) that changes.
If you go to the government site it even says these are PROPOSED regulations. Although it does NOT say when they may make things official.
I believe by 2008 they need to have things in place....it remains to be seen just exactly when exactly everything will take place for sure.
I know they wanted input from the public and businesses it will affect. They should check out these boards for a bit of input!

Thank you for your follow thru Kristin

I, like you, really don't want to buy a passport until I know it's necessary ;) If I can find a reason not to spend money, I'll take it.

My mouseketeers? Did your DS visit my photo album? :teeth:

Thanks for the comedy link! I'll have to check that one later. :ssst:

Happy Friday Everybody!!!:dancer:

Thank God It's Friday
Thank God It's Friday

Hello all!

Yes, I agree - Thank God it's Friday!

We've had a fun week - we got to go to the design center for all the stuff in our house. We've had 2 appointments, with one to go (electrical).

Here's my new cooktop:
art_PC366BS.jpg

I can't wait to burn a grill cheese on that!

We also chose our kitchen cabinets, counter tops and flooring. Oh yeah - and a 2 person jacuzzi tub!

trinibjill - cool trike, but you shoul have gotten one of these

You were on the first Disney 10-day cruise? That's neat (easy for me to say)- I watched that with great interest when it was playing out.

:sunny: Are you getting solid counter tops or formica? What kind of flooring did you choose? :temper tantrum alert: I wanna Jacuzzi!!!!! :okay, tantrum over: :sunny:

:wizard: It sounds like one big shopping trip, I am sooo happy for you and your family. :teeth:

Oooooh! A Ducati!!!
That's probably the only style TBJ hasn't ridden :moped:

:goodvibes :wave2: :cool1:

I love red I love mc's - however, I am scared to death of "CrotchRockets". It seems once you get on one you become evil knievel no matter who you are. And, I bet I would do it too. (ha ha) :moped:

Love the stove - would want that on an outside grill. Actually I prefer anyone else to cook other than me. :wizard:

Passport - I know I don't really want to buy one unless absolutely necessary. I'd rather buy a new gadget. :badpc:

Again HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

jILL :moped:  :love1:

I would LOVE a Viking range!!!!!!!
BUT until my budget agrees, I do really like my flat top--especially since I am prone to having several things at once, and overflowing.....
Only 18 days--WOO HOO!

Hi Cruise Gang,

Tig, I died laughing when I saw all those mouseketeers! You're hilarious!
I didn't take the day off the other day. I was in a better mood when I woke up in the morning, so I went in.
M,Tu, Th and F I do music therapy in a psychiatric nursing home, and on Ws I teach 4th grade catechism. What's new about my job is that I've been assigned to the floor with all ventilator residents! God bless them... imagine trying to communicate with bed-ridden mentally-impaired people who cannot speak, all on respirators. It's a challenge, and it breaks my heart to see these people like this. My job up to this point was working with people in groups, the ones that can walk themselves down to the recreation room. So it's a big change. And on Wednesdays, I have my St. Columba School kids, The kids make me laugh and feel great. I love it.

Now, about passports, we broke down and got them during the mad rush before the price went up. It was expensive, but now I feel it's done, we have them, and if we wanted to we could get on a plane to anywhere tomorrow morning with passports in hand. I just feel more secure having them.

Grim, I love your cooktop. I'm totally ignorant about brand names for these things, but I do know I prefer gas stoves over electric. Yours looks like a professional restaurant model, really cool. Keep us up on the progress with your new home.

It's so cold here in NY right now, and we're getting ready for some serious rain. I'm bundled up in my pink Disney Princess robe, watching my beloved Mets on tv and doing my Dising at the same time. I was thinking of you, Jill, today when I was picking Jesse up from school and a child said "can I ride my trike, mommy". Wow, if he only knew what the possibilities are when he grows up!

The other night I sat my family down and had a meeting (yeah, we're as corny as the Brady Bunch). I gave them hand-outs describing all the excursions, including maps, and I told them we'll meet again next week to discuss tentative plans. Do you all realize that in 4 months we can book excursions??? And we can do it online right at the DCL site, I think. (Have you all seen the new website? It's a lot better than it was before.) I don't want to spend tons of money on excursions, so this is my idea which I will present to my family:

St. Maarten
Mel and Chad will do the 7:45 AM Mountain Bike excursion for 3.5 hours while Jesse and I do the 8 AM Under Two Flags tour for 3 hours. We'll meet back on the ship for lunch/shower for Mel and Chad, and then head out to sightsee Philippsburg and Marigot on our own.

St. Thomas
7:40 AM St. John Trunk Bay 5-Star Adventure for 4.5 hours
Back to the ship to wash up, and then to Annaberg Ruins if there's time.

I've never been to these ports before, so I don't know how much of a big deal it'll be to go back to the ship in the middle of the day and then go back out. This is what I'm used to doing in the parks. From what I've read, there are cabs right there at the port, so I'm giessing it's not like we have to walk all the way into "town" to get a ride. Any thoughts??

We are getting granite counter tops, something like this
600_Juparana_St._Cecilia.jpg

Tile is a 20x20 porcelain that lookes like travertine.

I thought it was hard waiting a year and a half for the cruise - waiting for my house is going to be twice as hard.

Speaking of Disneyland, we're thinking of going for the real 50th birthday July 17th. It's only a 6 hour drive. Gotta go and try out the new Space Mountain!

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mothers!

Hi everyone still lurking but my July trip is looming and I seem to spend all my time on that board at the end of the summer I'll be here more often if you'll have me :)
Aisling a quick comment on your shore excursions
In St Thomas you say go back to the ship and then the Annaberg ruins. From my reading (never been there) these are on St John so I don't think you are going to be able to get all the way to St John and back in an afternoon, maybe you can put it out on the main board and see what people think.

BTW I've just booked all my excursions , Palo ressies and spa on line for my July cruise, it's just great to think that that is all done now and I don't have to worry when i get on board. If you need to you can do kids clubs too. If you are in a suite or have the REAS package you can book at 105 days out, if you are castaway club members 90 days and everyone else 75 days.

Lynn

Aisling--crummy weather up there in the NE! Hate to even tell you of the weatehr here....
Am so psyched about early ressies--need to speak w/ MIL about how all that goes...
A bit bummed here...had decided NOT to spend the $ to take myself to Provo for Creating Keepsakes University (really: workshop, for fun), then after reading their board, decided I DID want to go...well, the stupid site doesn't take Discover!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the only cc we have. We do have a debit Visa, but our flex $ for the month hasn't been deposited, and unfortunately they are a bit unreliable. Additionally, I hate using debit online--feel safer w/ the cc. Oh, well, guess that means I WASN'T supposed to spend all that $ on just me...maybe on the cruise!
Nice here, but very windy, so scrapbooking inside sounds pretty good...
Have a wonderful weekend!
Go Mets!

You can book Palo resies 90 days out if your castaway club members?

grim pirate:

That's correct Grim, go and have a look at the new DCL website and put in your ressie no all your details are there whether you use a TA or booked direct. At the 105,90,75 day mark as appropriate you can book excursions Palo Spa and Kids club, The ressie rush has just been made obsolete!!
You have to be fully paid to make reservations and you can do that on line too!
Prior to your reservation date you can look at what's available and store your choices in your wish list and then reserve them from there if you wish. It also has the weather in the various ports and lots of other cool features...have fun :cheer2:

Awesome! I was thinking about doing REAS primarily for the Palo reservations. Now I don't have to.

grim pirate:

Checkout the government link posted by DU. It states that we must have passports since there currently are no other acceptable forms of ID as of Dec. 31 2005. The requirments are definite. It states that new technology in the future may make some other form acceptable, but they do not exisit as of yet.

I'm not trying to push what I think on anyone. I would just hate to see anyone spend so much money on a cruise and not be able to obtain a passport in time to sail. :)
