It might seem early- but I was hoping you guys might have a unique idea for our family christmas card this year. i am tired of the traditional dress 'em up and stand 'em in front of the tree pose. Last year we took one of them in the tub with shaving cream "santa beards" and that was a real crowd pleaser! Another year we took one of them all sound asleep on the couch- any other good ones I could borrow?
Thanks!

My friend did a "serious" family portrait of himself and his wife. What made it so funny is that he was holding their hamster in the palm of his hand. Maybe you could take one that looks serious at first glance, but there's something "off" about it?

Hmm...you could photoshop everyone into an unusual place (jungle, on top of Sears Tower, in a tundra, etc). Or, everyone could have spaghetti on their face (but that's kinda gross). What about a pic of everyone in their winter jammies?

We did the winter jammies last year in front of the roaring fireplace and it came out so cute! Everyone loved it. My sister and I each have an "only", so we always take the two kids together for all our family/relative cards - saves on sending them all 2 cards each, and we split the cost.

We had our boys portrait done this summer and I made it small so I could send it as Christmas cards.

We have done pictures of the kids on the golf course, at the Christmas tree farm, formal studio shots, some just standing outside, etc. Nothing too creative. We have gotten a few cards in the past years that have had a collage of photos of the family members doing various activities like the kids in their sports team uniforms and the parents dressed up from a party or whatever.

What about posing the kids "sleeping" by the Christmas tree, pretending to be asleep waiting for Santa?

Or, what about getting the whole family in Christmas jammies, and have the kids serving the parents breakfast in bed?

Or with everyone in Christmas jammies, and have the kids "wake up the parents" to go open presents? Maybe have the kids bring in wrapped boxes, and make sure there is a visible clock that says a ridiculously early time, like 4:30 a.m.

COME ON! Ya gotta post that pic!!!!!! :teeth:

I once got a card from a friend. His family(dh,dw & 3 kiddies)....they were ALL in their Birthday suits...wearing only paper crowns! :crazy2:

(nothing of significance was showing)

Sorry thats all I got! :confused3

I have a friend who took a photo the year before of her daughter's opening presents and the excited look on both of their faces at the time they opened the one they REALLY wanted. The expressions on their faces were priceless and she captured it really well. Underneath the photo was some phrase about "Please, oh please, santa, don't be late. Christmas is coming and I can hardly wait" Or something to that effect. This year the girl's grandma made matching holiday pajamas for the girls and their American Girl dolls and they are wearing those in the card photos. I'm sure that will be just as cute.

If you live anywhere near CT, you can come and take their picture in front of my 9 foot tall blow up Mickey.

Last year we did our kids with the "Surfin Santa" and it was so so cute. We went to DCA over Thanksgiving so the timing was perfect for doing a card!

The year before, we took their pictures at the beach with Santa hats and carried some decorations and stuck them in the sand. We had those little stake things of toy soldiers and put them in a circle around the kids. It turned out really cute.

I say go for the outside pictures and make it "unexpected"! Take some decorations with you and do it up! Another year, the kids had gathered giant pinecones they decorated with glitter and then took them back out to the forest and we took the picture with them. Really cute and sparkly!

They want to dress up their cats this year and do a picture but the cats are not happy about that idea-lol!
