Christmas Bonus

We get the 10 days between Xmas and NYs off as our christmas bonus. Our fiscal year runs July 1-June 30 so usually we get a bonus around July 1 and a few extra vacation days then and we get our big bonus and raise on Sept 1 once the books were closed and all bonus and raises were portioned out. Our bonus is about 2.5 months salary.

I wish . . . Neither DH nor I receive a single cent nor have we ever in our current jobs. I do get a week off without it being counted as vacation and DH takes a week of vacation. My boss will gift me a gift of some sort, but I'll give her one, too.

Is your week paid? If it is you are getting a bonus.

retired now-but back then-nope. local government-no bonus. and if i wanted to take my staff out to lunch and we would be gone over 30 minutes they had to put in time cards to use personal leave :sad2: the 'p.c' move came down about 5 years before i left and we all got memos that nothing could be displayed that represented the chirstmas holidays in either public or private areas within the building (you could'nt even put a christmas card a co-worker gave you on your desk) :guilty:

We get what's referred to as "longevity pay", which is a set formula based on the length of time you've been with the employer. Got mine last week.

No bonus here. DH is a Freight Train conductor. His yard supervisor gets a really nice one though. His supervisor told him yesterday they are NOT shutting down for Christmas either.

last year before taxes it was $12,500. then they double it and add a percentage of his yearly salary and add that total to his retirement fund...

Wow, now I'm just depressed. :guilty:

I get nothing and if my dh is lucky he may get $100.

I had no idea that there were companies that gave out bonuses that large. Sounds like a great company to work for. :thumbsup2

Uhhh, no. :(

And we were informed today that yet another company tradition was going to the wayside -- no more 1/2 day on Christmas Eve. :( Just one more thing to take away from the workers. :( They took away our pension this year so I guess they thought they may as well take away our measly 1/2 day off. :(

DH works for the Fed Gov't, so no bonus for him either.

My week IS paid, BUT I work for a nonprofit and generous time off is one of the things we're given to offset our below-market salaries.

Nada. DH doesn't get one either. However, the CEO of the company he works for gave himself 7.1 million dollar bonus in 2005, the next year the company laid off 13,000 people. Go team.

I dont get a bonus, I work for a non profit and was told upfront that they never do any bonuses. We do get paid well, a generous contribution to our 403b (13%) and a TON of Holidays and Vacation sick and personal time, so not getting a christmas bonus doesn't bother me. We do get days off for christmas eve and day and new years day and will probably get the friday before new years off even though its not on our schedule.

DH is at a new company, I am pretty sure he will get something I am not sure how much but the company is doing very well and DH clocks a ton of billable hours.

When I was working.. NO. The company gives us fruitcake!! Literally! And if they send extra fruitcakes, then you can take an extra one home. I don't even like fruitcake.

I get the time between Christmas and New Years off, paid vacation. We also get results sharing. I think it's up to 5 days pay. Which is nice. But I think I will put all of it towards my school loans. :(

DBF gets an online gift certificate for a good amount. From there he gets to choose which stores the certificate is good for. I think he usually chooses Best Buy and like Sports Authority.

Not this year. I got one at my old job which was about 6% of my yearly salary. I switched jobs in August, and chances are pretty good we will not get bonuses. Maybe next year.

This year I got $2000. very happy with that although it is less than last years. I can't complain though at all. It's about 2 weeks pay after taxes. Stupid gov't takes about 40% in taxes

Yup. Technicly it's just a "bonus", not a "Christmas bonus". It's just a coincidence that it's given out the second Friday of December! It's tied to how under budget we come in under for the previous fiscal year (fiscal year ends in June), the more under budget we are, the higher the bonus. This year we got the max bonus allowed, 4% of our annual pay.

My hubby's company does - thankfully - and usually equals at least 3 takehome paychecks. Gotta love him going to the annual Christmas party.

Seriously?????!!!!! We get a $100 bonus that is then taxed....you are very lucky!!

I get an extra weeks pay. I'll get it this Friday actually!
DH gets a $25 gift certificate from the union.
