Christmas at WL cabins memorable or not?

Hey all. Planning my next Christmas visit to Disney and am considering the Wilderness Lodge Cabins this time. I was thinking that I'd like to be able to cook Christmas dinner and still enjoy all our other traditions. Has anyone done this for Christmas? How bad is transportation?

Do you mean the Fort Wilderness Cabins? We spent Christmas '01 there and I did our traditional Christmas dinner. We decorated the cabin and of course our deck with lights and even had a few Disney character signs for the driveway. And our cabin was bleak compared to others! LOL! Bring salt and pepper, cups for the bathroom, coffee filters, and a cookie sheet (for pizza or Pillbury-type cookies)

Ft W is one of our favorite places. We take the boat to MK and CR to transfer to monorails to Epcot, and drive to AK and Studios. On our last camping trip, the buses were excellent, although our camping loop 1500 is on a different route than the Cabins.

We have stayed at the FW Cabins a few times. We all love them and their one of our favs. We have stayed just about everywhere including the Grand Floridian.

We stayed during Xmas season (not Dec 25) and I brought a small tree and lights w/ ornaments. Easy to pack!! You can even head to Eckerd's drug store for example and pick up cheap enough lights etc. We also brought an extension cord for hanging the lights out on the deck and for the tree.

One year I was gonna cook Thanksgiving dinner and decided not to. We ran up to Trails End (restaurant) w/ no ressie and were sitting down eating in 10-15 minutes. They had all the trimmings plus pies. IMHO, don't cook!!! It was the best Thanksgiving ever. Same for Christmas day! The prices are very reasonable also!

The resorts hang little stockings w/ candy on your door knob.

Re-think the cooking and it will be magical...
