I am thinking about spending next christmas at WDW my DH and I have a DD who will be 3.5 and a DS who will be 2 at the time of travel. I am wondering for anyone who has been at WDW for christmas how do you get your gifts there for your kids. Also, do they miss having a tree?

you can mail packages to yourself to be held at the resort for your arrival. i would preload the stockings, prewrap the presents, put them in a big box (or boxes) and send them well ahead of time. you need to put the name your reservation is under and your arrival dates on the outside of the package.

as far as trees go-most hotels cannot allow live because of fire safety laws. you could call the resort and find out if the allow artificial. if so i would hit walmart around halloween (when the xmas stuff starts coming out) and grab one of the smaller ones that comes pre-covered with lights. this could also be mailed to the resort. for ornaments you could bring colored paper, (non buttered) microwave popcorn and some cranberries. the kids can make decorations, you and dh can string the popcorn and the cranberries-it might be the sweetest little tree you've ever had (i love the ornaments the kids make  ).

When we're not going to be home on Christmas, we put up a tree anyway - I enjoy it all month! Then we write a letter to Santa telling him where we will be on Christmas so he knows where to deliver the gifts. ;)

thank you for the wonderful ideas. I know it is a long way away from our trip I just want a plan of attack when I tell my DH this is what I want to do.

so dh does not yet know of your plans :rotfl2: if you are staying at the villas in a few days why don't you grab a package of the premade cookie dough so you can hit him with it while that wonderful smell is wafting through the air :goodvibes you could also point out the other posititve points of christmas at wdw-no traveling to (or hosting) family christmas events, no hauling of a dead christmas tree out to the curb, no hauling of holiday wrapping paper to the curb, no putting up or taking down of lights...boy this is sounding better and better to me, if we were'nt already going this november :rotfl:

barkley, I like your thinking! That might be what I will have to do to convince him. I would like to have all my bases covered before I even bring it up.

we are also going next xmas. Dec.19th-27th. I had no idea you could mail the presents there! That would be wonderful;just have to bring an extra suitcase to take it home! LOL. We will be travelling with DS 18(at the time),DD 14,DS 5 and DS almost 2. I think this will be a very special trip! Good luck with your planning-this will take lots of pre-planning;something I'm realizing now. But definetly worth it! And we have lots of time. Take care,Angel

oh gosh Now I have to get all the gifts home too! I never really thought about that. I am worried about flying home from my trip coming up with too much stuff!

I have told my DH my idea and he is onboard! I was surprised at how fast he went for it. I will have so much fun planning our trip. I just wish mickeys party went until christmas from what I can tell it ends on the 20th. :confused3

Disneyflorist.com has artificial miniature trees that are fully decorated in a disney theme. They aren't out yet but they should be out soon. I believe they were around $200. Another DIS'er said her mother puts it on the dining table every year. This is what we are doing for christmas this year. As for gifts we aren't going full out but we will ship a few things down and then do some shopping while there. It's fairly easy to ship things back, I shipped stuff back from the Comteporary via FedEx. I'm sure most if not all the resorts have a shipping desk. Another thing people do is pack a suitcase inside another one and use that to bring things home.

Have fun planning, I'm trying to wrap my brain around our Dec trip. My 90 days is around the corner and I have no idea where to eat.

Shipping is a great idea! Also buying somethings while we are there is also a good idea! What kid would not love more disney presents! I read somewhere that liberty tree tavern is a favorite place to eat! I have a few years to go and I am already trying to think of where to eat and how to do everything. We will also be there for new years too!

Our friends that we are going with came over today so we are finally getting it together. We are doing LTT on the 15th before MVMCP. LTT is one of our favorite places to eat. It's just so hard to decide with so many places to choose from, I don't want to skip the favorites but I really want to try new places too.

The big question is where to eat christmas day. We are going to Epcot but I'm torn between the restaurant at Swan and Dolphin, Artist Point at WL, Bergarten, or Le Cellier. Decisions, decisions.......

We are going for Christmas this year. Although, I've decided to give them the trip as their Santa presents. We are leaving on the 23rd, but what I plan to do is pack the suitcases and a few new goodies for the plane ride and put them under the tree. I plan to write a letter from Santa telling them for Christmas this year he wanted the whole family to go to Disneyworld. I will also include a p.s. that remember to bring their stockings so Santa can fill them up on Christmas Eve. I really hope they enjoy the surprise. I have a 9yr old, 3 yr old, and a 21 month old. I figured presents to open at the park would be more difficult and slow us down. I plan to give them some cash in their stocking and take them to Downtown Disney for Christmas Shopping.
We can't wait!!!

we are arriving X-mas day, We live here in SOuth Florida so its about 3 hours away. I plan on letting my family know and give them the choice of purchasing those disney dollars although I have to find out more info on them, They can also give money..For those who still insist on presents I am going to ask if they can hold off on giving them to us after we get back!! I plan on getting one or two things so she can open X-mas morning then Letting her get what she wants once we get there. I do plan on maybe getting a little artificial tree for the room and our stockings....Hubby and I are not exchanging gifts either. We decided if we see something we really want there we'll get it.....And I already know what I want, lol. Oh and by the way its a surprise, My DD4 dosent know so I plan on trying to get creative and having her open a present that says thats were we are going !!!!! Any Ideas???
