Christmas at WDW 1978

Oh my gosh. Wow. Thanks for sharing that. I skimmed the whole thing and it was just awful. And I think I would have thought so in 1978 too, when I was 16. I wonder why I'd never seen that....or did I, and I blocked it out?

I skimmed tru it too..but liked many things about it…
The airport security, the trees in the MK, all the boats on the SSL with no one wearing a life preserver and flying around each other in motor boats, discovery island, the clean lagoon, Philis Diller!, the tap dancer in front of the fire house, and I thought the politically incorrect Christmas songs about Jesus etc that has been replaced today with generic poo….
I love retro/histortical WDW stuff.
Here's something I made about that time that a couple thousand people have watched..

I will admit, if it came on TV today, I'd likely watch it just for the scenery.

I love vintage Disney stuff, but the "comedians" made it unwatchable to me.

Ha, remember "The Wonderful World of Disney", every Sunday night at 7PM. Used to come on right after "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" with Marlin Perkins.

i have a soft spot for Philis Diller…. a great great last of the old school..I think she's gone now.

Oh sure, she was great, you know she did voice work for "A Bug's Life" (highly recommended if you haven't seen it).

I remember Shields & Yarnell too. They used to be on shows like Ed Sullivan, but only for a few minutes at a time. That robot bit was just too much...after about 30 seconds. I noticed in the credits that Ron Miller was a co-exec producer. Ron was Walt's son-in-law, and did quite a bit of work for Disney. Mostly because he was Walt's son-in-law. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the link!

I almost fell out of my chair when Danielle Spencer make a "joke" about desegregation.

Danielle Spencer and Phyllis Diller exit Cinderella's pumpkin coach in front of the castle.

Spenser: "All I want to know is why we couldn't come to Disney World in bus like everyone else?"
Diller: "My dear, nobody takes a bus to a palace!"
Spenser: "They would if the Supreme Court told them to."

If you saw Pablo Cruise in this video at Disney in 1978,you can see them again at Disney in 2015 as they'll be playing the Epcot Flower and Garden festival in March I believe. Before I saw their name on the list of concerts to play the festival I had never heard of them.It seems they were popular in 1978,I was like 2 years old, they must have had some down time in the past 35-38 years.
