christmas at disney

Pack for all weathers, expect extremely large crowds during Christmas week, early December is quieter, if you want to do MK on Christmas day, get there very early as it often reaches capacity after around 10am, go resort hopping to see the Christmas decorations, book plenty of ADRs (dining reservations) to ensure you get the restaurant and meal times you want - especially for Christmas dinner, go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (free cookies, hot chocolate, and family photo as well as 'real' snow on Main Street), at the MK, go to the Candlelight Procession in Epcot (best to book the dinner package to ensure you get in) :)

The weather can be VERY COLD with frost, so pack warm clothes, coats hats, gloves etc but can also be in 80's so also pack shorts and T's. It is EXTREMELY busy over the holidays so get to the parks at opening - we saw them closed by 9.30am on New Years Eve.

It is well worth visiting the resorts, which are all decorated beautifully.

We are planning a December trip this year - there are loads of great things to do at that time.

Here is a link to a great thread about December activities:
Christmas Must Dos

Hope this helps, good luck with the planning,
Claire

Don't forget the Osbourne Lights at MGM :)

We were there last Christmas and I have never seen so many people crammed into one space! Be mentally prepared for this.

We also had frost some days and needed warm clothes for most of our trip.

Lots oj you have recommended visiting the Hotels. Can you do this even if you are'nt staying at a Disney Resort Hotel?? If so would you drive to the hotels or use the Disney transportation. If you drove would you be allowed into the carparks as your not a resort guest??

Yes anyone can visit the resorts and eat there as well. Personally we tend to drive unless it's to the monorail resorts. However, at Christmas time, parking may well be an issue, usually they'll let you in for a couple of hours.

Whichever way you get to them, do go and see GF, WL, POFQ - they really are quite beautiful.

Of course you can take any Disney resort buses as long as you have your park tickets, the decorations are outstanding, we did this in 2000 when our DS was 11 months old.The Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is fantastic make sure you get your tickets now as they soon sell out!!The Osbourne Lights are well worth seing too! The snow on Main Street is a wonderful experience and the extra shows-just remember to take a few extra things to keep warm during the fireworks and parades which will be in the dark at night , adds to the magic, (no street lights until it's all over).Have a blast!!!!:) P S Remember to pick up the leaflet with the showtimes and locations when you enter the parks!! :lovestruc Wifey
