When is the best time to go to Disney...the week BEFORE or the week AFTER Christmas? When are the resorts LESS crowded? I will be going with a baby so the less people the better. Also, if i go the week after, will the decorations still be up? How is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? Any suggestions for a GREAT resort for the Christmas season?

I hear that the week before is much better. There are also discounts up to Dec. 19th.

I've stayed during every week of december.
the first week of december the decorations in the resorts arent quite up yet.
the second week of december the decorations are up and it feels Christmasy and the crowds are low.
By the third wek the crowds start to build.
The Friday of the third week the crowds quadrouple. Its quite amazing. They go from running 1 boat and it being half empty to running 2 boat with full people at the opening of the park from the ttc to the magic kingdom.

By the fourth week you cant breathe on main street.

The second week of December is the best by far.

If by "the week after Christmas," you mean Dec. 26 thru the end of the year, then no. I wouldn't recommend going during that week. It's the most crowded and busiest week during the entire year. Plus, there are no room discounts available during that period. (But to answer your question, yes Christmas decorations will still be up until around Jan. 6th.)

I also vote for the week before. Not only will there be room discounts up until the 19th, but that is the last week to catch MVMCP. MVMCP usually ends by the 19th.

This is my first year to catch MVMCP so I can't tell you how it is, but everyone tells me it's not to be missed!

I would recommend the Wilderness Lodge for a Christmas trip. I don't have any links at the moment, but I've seen pictures of the lobby at Christmas time, and boy is it breathtaking! Plus this is where I'm staying this December!!

Hope this helps,

All the resorts decorate for Christmas in keeping with the resorts theme. We stay at the moderates and they are decorated very nicely. We have gone several times at Christmas and have a great time. Probably will go again this year.

We stayed at WL last Christmas from 12/23 - 12/29. The crowds arrived on 12/26. If you plan accordingly and stay away from the MK from Christmas on, it will be ok. We did the other parks after Christmas and had no problems. The decorations at the WL are the best for Christmas!
Have a great trip.

Hi!

We got our plane tickets today so I'm sure we are going!

We are going Dec. 4-11.

Are the decorations up already?

Where can I find the park hours?

Finally any recomendations will be greatly appreciated. IT'S OUR FIRST MICKEY CHRISTMAS! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Thank You!
Gily Ann

The decorations should be up. It is too early to know the park hours but keep checking the WDW web site. You will find lots of great information there along with checking these boards all the time. You will get lots of great information here. Welcome to the boards.

GilyAnn. I love the time that you are going. Everything is up and running as far as decorations go. Dont miss the candlelight processional, it is really beautiful. Also the lobbies at GF ,WL and AKL are worth the visit.

My cousin who lives in Orlando says go at the beginning of December because from Christmas up to New Years it's packed.
