Christmas at AKL?

Has anyone stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in winter? I have been told that viewing of animals from your window at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is great. Would that also be the case in December -- or will they retreat for the winter? Also does AKL do anything special for Christmas holidays? Thanks Kate

Stayed at AKL last December. The lobby and overall decorations were outstanding. As far as seeing animals from our room...it was amazing. We may have been just lucky but there was never a time that there wasn't something to see. We had a pool view reserved and were upgraded. There were children's activities at various times in the lobby. Great place to stay.

We've been at AKl the past two Decembers and there have been plenty of animals to look at. Both times it had been too cold for us to swim, but we're from FL so our "chill factor" might be lower than someone from another area.

As for holiday things -- the lobby is decorated with a HUGE tree that's just beautiful!

We were at AKL this past year Dec28-Jan2. The decorations were beautiful. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Timon visited AKL on Dec 31. It was great to have a character meeting right at the resort! We had a savannah view and were able to see lots and lots of animals every day. My daughter loves to swin and was able to swim two days. Hope this helps! Melanie
