It started with a Fist Fight
..
Its Christmas Eve, were all packed and now all we have to do is catch a few .
I set the alarm for 4:30 a.m., which should give me plenty of time to do the three Ss, but alas, that was not to be. I awoke to such a clatter and sprung from my bed only to hear my neighbours son decide that at 4:00 a.m. brawl would be the perfect way to wake up the entire neighbourhood. I end up calling 911, twice, once to get them here and then to cancel. Apparently this guy is wanted so his Dear Auntie came down to rescue him! Merry Christmas!
Its not so bad that Im awake but they woke up DD! Now I have a cranky pre-teen to deal with for the rest of the day! Lucky Me! Oh Well, Im going to Dizzy World, the Happiest Place on Earth!
We get ready, wait for our ride and off to the Airport we go but only after I get to run around the neighbourhood trying to flag the driver to where I live! Seems he cant read numbers!
Our plane is packed and I end up sitting beside a gentleman who low and behold, a Newbie to Disney! I pity the fool for asking me questions! That was the shortest flight ever! I talked the poor mans ear off as to what to do, where to go, when to do it, etc., etc., etc . Hope they had a Magical Vacation!
We arrive at MCO to pouring rain! Oh well, its not snow! By this time Im a little concerned because our flight ran late and with all the bad reports regarding Happy Limo figured we would end up walking to the GF! We get into the airport and dont even stop into the Disney Store, which is our ritual. Im concerned because as we go down the escalator, I dont see the Driver! Well at least I remember to take the number! Well just grab our luggage first but what, there standing by a pillar is a Happy Limo person on their cell phone asking someone how to spell our name! I go over and start to spell it for him! I apologize for our tardiness but Ship Happens! He says he was gonna give us another 5 and then take off! Tanya is over getting our luggage. I talk with Richard how this is a surprise for Tanya and that she has never been in a Limo and it was part of her Christmas present. He played this whole show to the hilt! Richard proceeds to tell Tanya that due to the fact that we were late coming in that there was only one vehicle left to pick us up in and hopes that she wont mind getting slightly wet! Tanya looks at him questioningly, and he proceeds to tell her that he has a motorcycle available! We head outside and we await our Motorcycle! She puts her usual attitude on, What, is he serious? How is all this luggage gonna fit, where are we gonna sit? etc., etc., etc. I am desperately trying not to laugh! Man is she gullible at times!
Ok, so I order a stretch limo but man o man! Was I in for a surprise too! What pulls up is one BIG SUV! I almost forgot to take Tanyas picture of her reaction! Wish I had taken a pic of mine! Boy are we travelling in style to the GF! Richard gets out and goes over to Tanya and says, Heres your Motorcycle! Well worth the money spent! I got, count em, not one, not two, not three but four HUGS! Plus an I love you! Best Christmas present a mom could get from a preteen who does not think it cool anymore to do such things!
Off we are whisked to the GF! We arrive in no time! But not before enjoying the reaction of the others driving along the 417! Its amazing the impression riding in a Stretch SUV makes on the rest of the world! I told Tanya dont get used to this, one time deal baby!
We arrive at the GF. It was a busy place today! Lots and Lots of people! As we enter someone who is roasting chestnuts greets us! Not a favourable snack but nice to say I have at least tried them!LOL
Inside we go ..
I am awestruck! The Tree is just beautiful beyond words! The whole place is decked out in its most wonderous of Christmas finery! We check in without much ado. And told we are given a room close to the main building so we would not have far to go for dinner. We are in Building 5, Sago Cay, first floor, Room 5103. We are shown how to get there. We walk over under cover as much as possible then run over to the building! WOW. Very elegant. We head over to our room. Open the door . OK, is this it? Nice but The beds were nice, I love the Mickey Lamp but for the price expected more room I guess I have been spoiled by my DVC!
We check everything out. I find the robes but wonder whether or not they have heard of Fabric Softener? We decide to rest a little before getting ready for dinner. Im about to doze off when, BANG! The neighbours slam their door as they come in. Can hear their entire goings on! You would think with a Deluxe they could sound proof the rooms! Oh well, time to get ready anyway! I loved the water pressure! As I am getting out of the shower, I hear Mousekeeping next door asking if they needed anything else? Next there is a knock on our door, I answer and she asks if I need anything. I figure I would ask for extra towels. She hands me the towels and also some chocolates and a note. I put everything on the bedside table and get ready!
We are off to Victoria and Alberts! We head back to the main building where I personally feel overdressed! Tanya, also dressed to the nines, kept me laughing cause she could not walk in heels! I convince her to let me take her picture in front of the tree because I know it wont be until next August I get her back in a dress!
We enter into the Domain of Victoria and Alberts! Just Elegant! After a short wait we are shown to our table. We are given our menus with our names imprinted on them. Unfortunately, Tanya is given the wrong menu. They were informed that she has a shellfish allergy but has shellfish listed on hers. Oh well, minor technicality, as long as she doesnt eat the menu! I have chosen to do the wine pairing. Would definitely recommend this! There was only one wine that I did not care for but the rest was superb! They even served an Oatmeal Stout, a dark beer, with the soup course, which just took the taste of the soup over the edge! I thoroughly enjoyed every course! Tanya, well lets just say, her taste buds have not quite developed but that which she did not enjoy, I sure did! Well at least until the fish course, then she really enjoyed! Up until then, it was why did you have to pick this place .. at the end of our meal Can we eat here again?
I was afraid that we would feel out of place but they never made us feel that way! I highly recommend that you at least experience this once if not many times! One day I hope to be able to do the Chefs Table! But until then, will admire our menus and fondly remember our best Christmas Dinner!
After we finish our meal and stroll thru the lobby, decide to find out what time MK is opened until and when we find out its until Midnight, and that I could activate the APs that night, no need to ask us twice!LOL Off to the room, change back into our comfy jeans and head to our most favourite place in the whole wide world! As we are changing, hear our neighbours once again. Then its that infamous Flushing Toilet sounds! Oh great! It seems that all deluxes were made for hearing that Whoosh! You would think they would do a better job of it!
We enter the park. I am hoping to get our pics taken but cannot find a photographer anywhere! I guess they hide when they start Wishes! Maybe later! We head over to Haunted Mansion! We ask if Paul is working tonight and he is. We wish him a Merry Christmas and apologize for not posting the pic on wdwmagic.com website. We enter the Mansion and we take home another hitchhiking ghost!
We find the park virtually empty and think, this aint so bad! But as it turns out, because of the rain all day, not many showed up for the parks today! We enjoyed as much as we could before tiredness took its toll. It was nice to be able to take the monorail back to the resort! We head back to our room. I am interested in seeing what awaits us. We enter and the way we left it was the it remained. Where was the turn down service? I was told they put a rose on your pillow? I guess not for a Garden View Room! As it turns out, when Mousekeeping showed up at 5:15 p.m., that was to be our turndown! I read the note that she had given me, it stated that turndown would be anywhere between 5:45 and 9:00 p.m. I guess it was too busy for proper procedure. Not impressed. No excuse for it. Either you stay a First Class Establishment all the time or you fail the grade! GF, you failed!
I finally get to say I stayed at the GF but to be honest, I can say, been there done that and definitely not going back! At least to spend the night! The CMs were terrific that worked there but as far as the rest of it .Not worth the money and I even got a discounted rate! As the old saying goes, Not My Cup of Tea! Lets hope the rest of our stay at the BCV is better.
