Christmas 2006 at the VWL, get a res. at the 7mo window, when hell freezes?

I am seriously considering Christmas 2006 at the VWL. The lodge is supposed to be breathtaking at Christmas.

I only own a BCV and OKW. So, what di you think the chances are of getting the full week (24th-31st) at the 7moth window?

book at bc, then try to switch at the 7 month window. Yu never know until you try. last year i had two studios at wl from 12/9 to 12/15, Mid Oct (after staying at wl)i waitlisted for a two bedroom at okw and it came thru.

well, last christmas i rented points from a member that owned at VWL, because i needed a 2 bedroom & 1 studio. then we moved to BCV were i own & it was great to book all at the 11 month. this year i wanted to use my points from ssr to stay at BCV for dec. 29 - 31. i had to wait until the 7 month. well i got dec. 30 at BCV only because it is a friday, high points, but the BCV,BWV,VWL are booked up already. i went on the waitlist for BCV for dec. 29. only because it is one night. my waitlist came thru a week later when i called at the 7 month for my jan. 7 date at the BCV. we are cruising on the DCL in between. i would rent or trade points with another member, there are members taht like staying at BCV and OKW and would like to book at the 11 month. good luck, and the VWL is beautiful and perfect for christmas. but so is all the other dvc resorts. you could always book BCV and at 7 months see if you can get VWL, if not you can always go to VWL and look around and even make ps there to eat dinner.

Try it! One year I got the BW Standard view at 7 months. At just under 11 months, MS told me there was no availability already (nice CM told me when I was nosey!). My theory is that at 7 months so many people bump around, you may get lucky and call at the right moment. Ah, yes-the 7 month bump!!

It just worked for me a couple of weeks ago. We're going to Disney this Christmas, and I had a 2BR at BCV. The scuttle at these boards made me think I would never get my family into VWL.

But one phone call and we were set. And yes, that was for a two bedroom for an entire week. I don't know if that's typical, but I got the whole thing on my first try.

IMHO, this is your best option. BCV is also popular. Look for a VWL owner who wants to stay at the BCV - maybe during the summer or during Food & Wine festival. Probably won't be all that hard to do - SAB is a huge draw.

Actually, unless the reservations use exactly the same number of points, you'll need to trade "reservations" rather than points, because DVC will not permit you to transfer points out of your account and accept points into your account during the same use year. If you trade reservations, only one person needs to send points to the other.

FWIW, you don't have to stay at the VWL to visit the resort and see all the decorations.
