Some Choruses we sang today...

Lord, let Your Light, Light from Your face, shine on us
Lord, let Your Light, Light from Your face, shine on us
That we may be saved, That we may have life
To find our way in the darkest night, Let Your Light shine on us

Lord, let Your Grace, Grace from Your hand, fall on us
Lord, let Your Grace, Grace from Your hand, fall on us
That we may be saved, That we may have life
To find our way in the darkest night, Let Your Grace fall on us

Lord, let Your Love, Love with no end, come over us
Lord, let Your Love, Love with no end, come over us
That we may be saved, That we may have life
To find our way in the darkest night, Let Your Love come over us
Let Your Light on us shine

Jill, thank you so much for that word of encouragement and exhortation! I really needed to be encouraged to press into Jesus and to totally cry out to Him. I don't know why sometimes I lose sight of that powerful, necessary, freeing truth! I believe the songwriter said:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of the earth will grow strangely dim. In the light of His glory and grace.

another one...

Lord, You have my heart and I will search for yours
Jesus take my life and lead me on
Lord You have my heart and I will search for yours
Let me be to You a sacrifice

And I will praise You Lord I will praise You Lord
And I will sing of Love come down I will sing of Love come down
And as You show Your face Show Your face
We'll see Your glory here

and one of my favorites...

Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands

For it's only in You will that I am free
For it's only in You will that I am free

Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

You guys sang some great choruses/songs today! :)

Jill, I love Lord, Let Your Light

Oh, Jill, Great is Thy Faithfulness is one of my very favorite hymns. Just something I can cling to over and over and over...
I have been keeping everyone in prayer, and will add your son. So much is going on with all these that we love.. all these that HE loves. Just remember, HE is with you every step of the way.

Step By Step

Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You

I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You

I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Ladies, you are a blessing to me! All these hymns that have been posted are just what i needed! Now the explanation....

We went to the new, small church being pastored by our old Pastor/friend. DH and the kids like it, I endure it....well actually I endure the music in order to hear a relatively good message (yesterday's was very good). They NEVER sing a hymn, only choruses/worship songs. Now you all know that I like these songs, but for me they tend to come across more as "entertainment" when done in church. It saddens me that that the old hymns are being dumped like yesterdays trach by so many churches when they hold such truth in them and are wonderful "connections" to the past and where the Church has come from. Nothing wrong with the "new", but why do we think that there is no benefit for new believers in the "old" as well? Anyway......thanks for all the hymns!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Songs from yesterday included....
His love goes on forever
and...:rolleyes: :confused: wouldn't you know it, I have a brain cramp! There were many others, just can't think of them!
Jill, hope you all are healthy soon!
Tasha: Our church does the praise music at the beginning of the service, then we do a traditional hymn just before the message and for our invitation, so we have a nice mix of old and new. While I really like the contemporary praise music, I probably would miss traditional hymns if we didn't do them.
One of the greatest blessings about our church is the music. Yesterday, one of the ladies signed the song below. I can't tell you how much this presentation touched my heart. It was WONDERFUL! I talked to the lady at our evening service for about 20 minutes, just explaining how much I enjoyed it, and how she learned sign language. What a great experience! And I gained a new artist that I really like (Third Day). Took a while to find the lyrics this morning, since she had lost the CD sleeve and didn't know the real title to the song, but I finally found it. Here it is! The song is called "Love song"
I've heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done.
I've never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of calvary
Chorus:
Just to be with you, I'd do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I'd give everything
I would give my life away.
I've heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
But all of those dreams are an empty emotion
It can never be done
I've never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea
Repeat chorus
(Bridge) I know that you don't understand
the fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don't realize
how much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again.
Just to be with you, I've done everything
There's no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away.
Right now our church has one service and the order goes like this:
Praise time (15 -20 minutes of praise chorus')
Sentences of Scripture....
Hymn
Sermon
Hymn
Offering
Prayer time
Hymn
Benediction
Of course there is lots more included, but that is the musical order of Worship.
Shortly we will be splitting into two services
1 - Contemporary (with praise music and a more free style of worship)
2 - Traditional (sacred music and a more contemplative style of worship.)
I will most likely go to the Traditional worship, but I have to say I will really miss the praise music. However, I love the older hymns and the quieter worship styles. I will be visiting the other service often too.
As I come into Your presence
Past the gates of praise
Into Your sanctuary
'Till we're standing face to face
I look upon Your countenance
I see the fullness of Your grace
And I can only bow down and say
You are awesome in this place
Mighty God
You are awesome in this place
Abba Father
You are worthy of all praise
To You our lives we raise
You are awesome in this place
Mighty God
I will run
To the cleft of the mountain and wait for You
Will You come and meet with me
I will wait
In the cleft of the mountain for You to pass by
Will You come and meet with me
Oh what a joy it would be
Just for a moment to lay at the feet of the Lord
O more than anything that's what I long for
And O what a change it would bring
Just to look deep in the face of the King who gave all
You gave everything so You could meet with me
Will You meet with me
I will run
To the cleft of the mountain and wait for You
Will You come and meet with me
I will wait
In the cleft of the mountain for You to pass by
Will You come and meet with me
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.
One generation will commend Your works to another; they will tell of Your mighty acts.
I will speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and I will meditate on Your wonderful works.
I will tell of the power of Your awesome works, and I will proclaim Your great deeds.
I will celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.
Psalm 145:3-7
Does anyone know the title of this song and the artist? I was only given the words yesterday.
Somestimes I let this whole world have it way with me, and there is no escape as far I can see. Captured by the wind I break so helpless. I know if not for you, there's be no hope for me.
You are the calm at the center of my storm. when the cold winds blow you're the fire that keeps me warm. When this whole world gets me down, I will rest inside your arms, you are the calm at the center of my storm.
If I could only learn to always turn to you, instead of thinnking I always know what to do. Why does it take the darkness for my eyes to see? There's never been a time when You weren't there for me.
I love hearing about everyone's services and what types of music you like at church :) Thanks for sharing!
While I really really like the Praise and Worship music style of worship, I do have an appreciation for the hymns as well.
I guess the awesome part to me is that we can enter into His precious presence and worship Him, period. The scripture says in Psalm 29:2 Worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness And however it is, whether through a hymn or a chorus or a "new song" (as the scriptures call it - when we just put a tune to the words from the depths of our heart to express our great love for our magnificent God) ~ I believe He is blessed by our worship. And we are changed from being in His presence. :)
Hi, The lyrics to one of my favorite Christian pop songs is on my son's webpage.
http://www.caringbridge.org/tx/benji
Even before my son was diagnosed, he was just a frail little thing. I would hear this song and think of him.
He's My Son
Written by Mark Schultz
I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired
I'm sure You can understand
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes
Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son
Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You
Let him grow old
Live life without this fear
What would I be
Living without him here
He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there
Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son
Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone ...
Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son.
This is a great thread!!!
Loriann, that song brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful!
It reminded me of the story about the doctor w/ the young heart patient. I don't have a copy of it, so I'll write it as best I can remember.
A heart doctor was seeing a young boy who was very critically ill. As he was preparing the boy for the tests he was going to run, he told the boy "I'm going to be looking at the inside of your heart to see what's in there." The boy told him "Oh, I know what you'll see. Jesus is in my heart." When the doctor did the test, the results were very bad. He was not a Christian, but seeing those test results drove him to cry out to God, "Why did you do this to a boy who believes so strongly in you?" God answered him "I sent that boy to save a soul. That soul was you."
I just send prayers out to each an every family who has to live with having a child who was sent to earth for that purpose. How great your faith must be for the Lord to trust you with such a wonderful burden.
Amazing Grace, thank you for sharing your son's story with us. What a beautiful song for his webpage.
I'm assuming you are stationed at Keesler? We just left there. Are you on base? What church are you attending?
Will be praying for you all! Hugs
