Chris and Katelyn's PJ 8-8-09

Hey everyone. Welcome to my PJ!! Chris and I got engaged on Saturday (9-13-08) but have dreamt about a Disney wedding for years! Our first obstacle is getting our parents to love the idea as much as we do. We live in Massachusetts so our parents are concerned that "no one will come" because it is too far away andtoo expensive to have a wedding out-of-state.

I'm pretty bummed, because I really want this to work out!

We have already held the Wedding Pavilion for 8-8-09 at 2:30
We have holds at the Boardwalk and Yacht club for the reception, but we are on the waitlist for the Grand Floridian, which I really reeally reallllllly want! I am crossing my fingers. There is a tentative convention who is holding all the space at GF.

We have been in constant contact with Bill B. from sales at Disney FT weddings. He has been GREAT!

We are hopefully booking our Magic Kingdom Portrait session this week as well.


Which brings me to our current concern. To use Disney photo and video or not??? Any suggestions? Disney photo and video= 8,500 or we were looking at a package deal with Randy Chapman/Stan S.= 4,500

Photo and video are so important to me, I want quality!!

I'd go with a non-Disney photographer, personally, but I think it's just a matter of taste. As far as videographers, I'm on the hunt for a good one myself...

8-8-09 is a great date! 8s are lucky in Chinese culture, which is why we're getting married on January 8th. You get double luck!

My parents said the same thing about our Disney wedding, but now instead of the forty guests we were hoping (and budgeting) for, we've got 75! When people hear that they've got an excuse to go to WDW, they'll be excited.

Oh that is so great to hear! We are inviting around 100, but project about 50 guests. Although, like you said, we have had so many people say "We are going to make a vacation out of it!"

So maybe our parents will come around...

Having had so much family drama over a Disney wedding my DF and I have decided to pay for the entire wedding and honeymoon by ourselves. We had no idea how we will yet..but we are trying desperately to so our families will stop complaining and fighting!

Any ideas on how to have a great wedding for lower costs?

Videographer booked!

We are..as I type..watching the sample HD DVD from STVS video, who will be our videographer on our wedding day.

Today we recieved confirmations from our videographer (STVS), our photographer (Randy Chapman), and our officiant (Tim Herring).

Does anyone have any suggestions for To-Dos this month? We are just about 10 months away.

I booked my makeup/hair/nail services today. Beaute Speciale will be doing everything for my bridesmaids and I on the day of my wedding. Anyone had services through them for their DFTW?

I'm going to try on my first wedding gown this Sunday!

Congratulations, Katelyn! Your pictures are gorgeous! Ana and Lily are doing my hair and makeup for my VR in January. I did a trial run with them 2 weeks ago and was thrilled. Hey there! Congrats on your engagement!

I absolutely agree with using non-Disney vendors. You will save a bundle and get the same, if not better quality photos. I've seen so many amazing photos & videos (Stan from STVS does HD/Blu-ray video & that's a plus) on the boards from outside vendors.

In regards to your family, i know its hard. I went through a very similar situation and I really thought that no one would show up, but some family and freinds suprised us and they even talk about the wedding being one of their best vacations ever...so don't give up...and you make sure to have to wedding of your dreams, it only happens once and you want to remember it as the happiest time of your life!

I bought shoes tonight that I think are really pretty...not sure how they will look with a white dress, but I'm going to try on dresses tomorrow! I'll post pics after!

Yesterday I went to try on wedding gowns for the first time. I tried on a bunch! I took a lot of pics...but my DF often checks this PJ, so I don't want to put any up. :-(

We also booked our Magic Kingdom Portrait Session today for 8-9-09 @ 5AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking about changings my shoes as well...I have the most sensitive feet, and my dress won't show my shoes, so I may go with white flip flops!
