Choosing which points to use in a reservation

I have a question about how to specifically select which points are used for a reservation. Here's the issue. We're looking at going to the Animal Kingdom Villas with our three daughters, two of whom are married. I don't want to spend the points to get a Grand Villa, so I'm looking at getting a two-bedroom and a studio. The problem is that one of my daughters and her husband can't really commit to anything until a couple of months prior to the trip. He's just starting at a big accounting firm and he's low man on the totem pole when it comes to requesting vacation. Because of this I'd like to be able to cancel the studio, potentially just prior to the 30 day deadline to avoid a holding account.

To put this reservation together I'm going to have points banked from the previous year, points from that use year, and points borrowed from the next use year. From my perspective the banked and borrowed points need to be used on the two-bedroom since I'm quite sure that is happening and I want to use points of that use year to pay for the studio. That way if I have to cancel the studio I will get points back that could be banked to the next year, whereas if I were using points that had been banked or borrowed, I would have to use them during that use year, which is not in the plans.

Does anyone know how or whether when you make a reservation you can select what "kind of points" are used to pay for the specific room?

Thanks in advance. If this is totally confusing, let me know and I'll try to explain it better.

Book the 2 bedroom online and use the banked/borrowed points, then book the studio using current points which you could bank if you will be in your 8 month banking window if and when you cancel.

I would call to make this reservation, since you can't borrow until you've already committed current use year points. This type of reservation would probably require some sort of manual point selection by Member Services staff.

I agree with Chuck since in order to do it on line You might have to book a couple of nights in the two bedroom to use the banked points , then book the studio to use the current points and then book a couple more nights for the 2 bedroom to use the borrowed points. Every time I have made a reservation online the system has used the points in the order they would expire - holding first, banked, current and then borrowed. I don't remember being given a choice except if points needed to be borrowed which account did I want to use. Then you would have to call MS to have them link the two 2 bedroom reservations anyway. I may not have paid enough attention since it always worked the way I wanted it to but don't remember being given a choice about which points to use. Good luck and have a wonderful trip with your family. Hope they can all make it. I did the GV one year at Christmas and ended up with only 5 people going so completely understand your plans. It was a great trip and some CMs at the BW DVC model after asking who was the crazy person to use that many points for 5 people said they would be glad to come over and help fill up the space. From then on I did as you are planning to do in case someone couldn't come after all.
