Hi!

I really need to get on it and book our towncar company for our December trip. 2 years ago we used ******** and were very pleased with them and have been reading so many conflicting reports on here about each company that I don't know who to choose! We will be needing a van for space and ******** had the best price on vans at that time and I think they still do now.

I don't know who to go with!!!

Also what would anyones opinions be on price cost or if it's worth it to have a towncar company take us to Canaveral Shores I think its' called?? Our DD 6 yrs old desperately wants to go to a beach and get shells---if the price was'nt too high I would love to take her to the beach since she's never really been able to go shell hunting before and afterall we will be in Florida and probably won't be close to a beach for a long while after this trip.

Someone here posted that this was a National Park Beach with great shells and that it was fairly close to Disney----I was thinking of maybe going for just the morning to walk the beach and then return to Disney in the afternoon. Would it be worth it----I know it would be for our DD!! It would be like her dream come true!! If only it would be affordable!! There's 5 of us including our DD so for that trip we could fit in a towncar. Thanks to all for your input and opinions!!:wave2:

Anyone:( BTW the company I was referring to was your ride--I don't think I will be using them again after I read some of the recent posts and also that they have been banned from these boards:rolleyes:

Its called Cape Canaveral. I wouldn't do it this trip this way - although it is very nice to spend a day out at the beach and is not a far drive (45 minuts from Disney). I have a condo on Cocoa Beach at the pier so I am very familiar with the area and the drive time. Are you staying on Disney property? If you are I would do a car rental from the Swan or Dolphin - I can't remember which had the Alamo station at it. If you're not on Disney property tere are other rental car stations around at the off-site resorts - just check the Internet. Do a short rental contract, like a couple of days. Check your prices prior to going down as my impression is that you don't want to do a one day as this is often higher than a week rate. Your cost to have a towncar to go out there would far exceed renting a car and would limit you on exploring different areas like the wildlife reserve and the National Seashore.

go to www.cocoabeach.com and you will get directions, info on the beaches, and other good stuff to be able to plan your day. Don't set too high of hopes on finding a ton of seashells. Jupiter Beach is where they are - not Cocoa beach. We used to have better shells but they just repaired the beaches after the dregging Disney did of the channel which brought tons of shells onto the shore. The new beach area has very limited shells unless you get out there at 6am prior to the professional shell seakers. Still, its better shell seaking than here in New England. :wave2: Hope this helps. Just do your research and check prices.

Thanks castlegazer!

Yes we are staying at the Contemporary. I did'nt really want to rent a car because we will have my elderly parents with us and I figured it would be too much trouble trying to find how to get to a car rental agency and run around to do this. Plus we would need a fairly larger car since there will be 5 of us including our daughter. If there was a way I could do this without alot of running around I might consider it although I figured with a towncar company we would'nt have to worry about navigating either and driving on our own.

So you're saying we should go to Jupiter beach?? Someone posted here not too long ago that they went to the beach at Canaveral Shores and found alot of shells? I guess it just depends on the weather and tides. I'm sure if my daughter even found 1 shell she would be estatic!! Hopefully we can work someway out to do this --it would be such a great surprise for our daughter. Thanks again!:D

No, you want to go to Cocoa Beach - Jupiter is too far away for a day trip. Shell Seaking is still good here, its just not as good as it used to be. You are sure to find oodles of beautifully colored scallop shells. You just don't find other rarer shells like you used to.

I can't give you any further info on this as I haven't taken a shuttle out to the space coast and I have no idea how the logistics would work for a party such as yours - like after they drop you off at the beach what if your parents don't want to stay any longer or if you all want to try somewhere else. But just check your prices. I just think you can get a better deal with less hassles from rental cars, and there are often good deals for minvans and SUVs. But you're right, a towncar company would come and get you and drop you off door to door.

We stayed at the Poly and rented a van from National (Alamo). If you reserve like a day ahead of time they will send a courtesy van to pick you up and take you to the Magic Kingdom Rental Center. We gave them a list of professional organizations dh belongs to and they took the largest discount too. They will also drop you back off at your hotel (contemp.). There are time frames for this, say like 8:30 am earliest and 6 o.m. latest. Something like that. I know what you mean about the beach. I live by the beach but never go, sorry I hate hot sand on my feet. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks luvmarypoppins!

Does anyone have anymore info on the Magic Kingdom Rental Center--which companies and how much it would be to rent a car or van for a day or two?

Also does anyone know how long it takes to get to the rental agency once they pick you up? Thanks alot!
