Choosing a good neighbor hotel

Hello! I could really use some help choosing a good neighbor hotel. We are planning a dl trip in sept. We want a hotel very close to the parks Bc we will be traveling with small kids and a double stroller. We are looking into the best western park place inn, best western plus, or Fairfield. It looks like we can get either bw for the same price. The Fairfield would be less expensive (around 70 less with parking). Any help is very much appreciated!

We have always stayed at the HOJO as we love their kids suites. Now though our "kids" have outgrown the bunks so we are looking for other places and we've been looking at being right across the cross walk - Park Vue and BWPPI offer suites that look pretty roomy. I'd be interested thought to see what people say about their pools as you will be there during a time when it will be hot summer pool weather! Honestly though, with kids in a stroller it's all about how far you want to walk - once they are walking on their own, then the miles matter.

We have stayed at both the Fairfield and Best Western Plus.

Fairfield has more rooms (and floors) with some more likely to be facing the park so you may catch a view of fireworks (although you can see it from the walkway at most hotels on the same street). You can purchase breakfast and other food at the hotel. It felt like this hotel was a little louder (we have not stayed here in a few years).

I preferred the Best Western as it included a nice breakfast (we were actually impressed) where we would eat at outside area with a view of DL. The hotel was a short walk to the front gates of DL. Parking was included with no extra charge! We used the rental car to get groceries as we do not like to eat out all the time. We were able to walk back the park, rest up or swim and then return to the park later for not too long of a walk.

Best western park place is right at the crosswalk to DL. So if you really want a short walk you could try staying there. I have no personal experience staying there (I am sure there are plenty on here that have).

We also like Hojo. We have our upcoming trip planned to stay here. This will be our second time staying here. They have comfy beds & pillows and keurig coffee makers in the rooms and a fun water park for the kids and a near by hot tub for the parents to relax while watching the kids play.

One big priority for us is a good pool as my kids enjoy swimming almost as much as Disney. So if that's a priority then make sure to look into that. HoJo has a great pool and so does the Courtyard (which is super close). BWPPI is very strict on parking times so just beware of that too.

Good luck!

Tell us your highest needs and we can point you in the right direction. Everyone has their own fave. But mine differs based on who I’m traveling with, etc.

I’d go with the BWPPI or park vue if you want close.

Thank you for that helpful link! We will be traveling with a 6 year old, 2 year old, and infant. So I think our highest priority is ease of getting back and forth since we will be the circus with the double stroller and then either a 6 yr old walking or if he's too tired I will be baby wearing while he's taking a break. Included breakfast is a nice perk but not a deal breaker. I think we can get out of the hotel quicker if the foods right there. Based on price we are down to one of the bws or Fairfield inn. Fairfield is cheaper which I like but not sure if saving a little less than $70 is gonna matter after breakfasts and a little longer walk.

I know all about that crazy circus! We have 4 kids 8 and under. IMO, $70 is not worth the extra walk, but a nicer pool might be! Be sure to take into account resort and parking fees.

Breakfast is not a big deal to us and having to sit down and eat in the lobby would take much longer as we prefer items you can eat while walking to the park. But of course all families are different!

We are also a circus, right now they're 6, 4, and 2 but we go 1-2x a year for the past 3 years. We have stayed at the FFI but generally prefer either residence inn...the FFI rooms are tiny. With our double stroller (Chariot), 3 car seats and luggage, it was quite something in that room. Just something to think about :) We have a marriott gig so we haven't tried the BW, but I wouldn't discount a free breakfast. It keeps our kids going.

Good to know the "circus" isn't enough to keep you from going back. Gives me hope that we can make it. We have heard from some people we are a little crazy to go now and should wait till the kids are older. Thanks for the tip about the small rooms... The smaller the kids the more supplies you gotta bring lol!

With 4 littles you must be a pro at the parks! We are so excited to take the kids but of course a little nervous about managing the chaos. You are right about eating in the lobby... I think if we stay somewhere with a breakfast grabbing something on the way out is probably better

Your kids are great ages to go...such a magical age.

Well we definitely have our share of meltdowns and after 4 trips to WDW they have gotten much better and understand expectations now. Hoping to make our first trip to DLR in Aug 2019.

I am obsessive about preparation especially the night before to get out in time for rope drop. Just make sure you have everything laid out and done the night before, leaving very little to do in the morning. We get out the door more quickly at Disney than we do at home! Another huge tip is to have adults shower the night before, this cuts down on so much time!

Thank you for the tips! Night before prep... We can do this!
