Chomps Around the World! A December Dining Review!!

This morning we wanted a quick breakfast to share while waiting for the bus so we decided to grab something at Contempo Cafe again. Derek and I always go for Breakfast Sandwiches whenever we go out for breakfast, so it was easy to decide on what to share :thumbsup2 We ordered the toasted breakfast sandwich on Ciabatta bread. I loved this bread because it didn't have the flour-y texture like some ciabatta bread does. It was nice and crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.

The sandwich was really yummy! Anytime Eggs, Cheese, and Ham are together on some sort of tasty bread you will win with me :thumbsup2 The bread was nice and toasty and the cheese was nice and ooey gooey...Both of us enjoyed it but by the time we ate it at the bus stop it was slightly cool.

We also split a fruit cup to try and stay somewhat healthy...
This is a pic of one we ordered later on in the trip, but you get the idea :)

Overall this was a very filling and tasty breakfast to get us going for a day of fun in the parks!

Next Up...our two favorite meals of the trip!

Thanks! I tried it but I don't see the little globe with binoculars??? where is that located?

Sorry.......You need to hit the "edit" button on the post you want to work with. You will see the little globe thingy under the smiley face, Please pm me if this still isn't clear.

Great review. Now you got me missing my stroller. LOL Don't think I can get my 8 yo to sit in one anymore.

Ooh looking forward to hearing about those... thanks for sharing!

I was just uploading the photos and my mouth was drooling!!!!!

Sorry.......You need to hit the "edit" button on the post you want to work with. You will see the little globe thingy under the smiley face, Please pm me if this still isn't clear.

Thanks! I figured it out :thumbsup2

Great review. Now you got me missing my stroller. LOL Don't think I can get my 8 yo to sit in one anymore.

I always joke that they should make strollers for adults....and then my DH said they do...they're called wheel chairs :rotfl:

Sorry I know I promised our 2 favorite meals next, but I completely forgot about a little "mini meal" we had over at DHS!

We ended up going over to DHS this morning because it was so freaking COLD out (we had planned on going to AK but changed because of the weather). We decided to split a muffin and hot chocolate when we finally got to the parks, the bus from CR was TERRIBLE today. We purchased them from the stand over by ToT. I didn't take pics of these but they were just fine, although the muffin was actually cold due to the very cold temps outside I'm sure!

When we were getting hungry for lunch I knew I wanted to go over to Epcot to eat in Morocco, something I've wanted to do for at least two trips now. The problem was that out FPs for TSM weren't until 2:30pm and we were STARVING at 1:30pm. We decided to split a lunch here and then split something again in Epcot. So we stopped to eat at Pizza Planet. Neither one of us had eaten here before, although we had passed through many times for restroom stops :thumbsup2

100_1043.jpg

The line was still pretty long at 1:30pm, so it took quite a while to order. There were also limited tables (at least downstairs) so I decided to order while Derek and Silas grabbed a table. We shared a Pepperoni Pizza and Caesar salad.

100_1037.jpg

As you can see we were STARVING :rotfl:

The food was fine, although not spectacular. But we were sooooo hungry and appreciated the food just being edible at that point. From what I remember while scarfing this down, I didn't particularly care for the sauce. It was pretty sweet and could have used more herbs. It kinda just tasted like spaghetti sauce, but I figure they are just trying to appeal to everyone, especially kiddos.

When I got to the table my husband told me how he had asked the people at this table before us if they were leaving and they said sure you can have the table. As they were getting up, and Derek was trying to get the stroller situated, some lady just scooted in and sat down! Derek was like ummmmmm excuse me I was waiting for this table for about 5 minutes and I was about to sit down. The lady apparently didn't say anything and just sat there looking around! Than Derek said well that's fine but here comes my wife with our food, you are welcome to eat with us. I guess she just got up since she wasn't there when I sat down!!!

Coming up next....Lunch Number 2 and one of our favorite meals of the trip (I promise!) :thumbsup2

After Pizza Planet we rode TSM, then grabbed the next boat over to Epcot. When we got there we headed right for Morocco and the Tangierine Cafe

mms_picture3-1.jpg

I had wanted to try this for such a long time and I was so excited! It was SUPER cold out so we headed right in and ordered! We looked at our options and agreed on the Lamb Wrap. After we ordered we also went over to the little coffee shop right inside the cafe. My hubby really wanted some good coffee and decided to order the Morrish. This was espresso with cinnamon and nutmeg. It sounded really good and I expected a latte or something...but it was just the straight shot of espresso with the spices. It was really good but STRONG! Derek said he was awake now! :rotfl:

While we waited for our food the staff was talking and visiting with Silas. They gave him tons of attention and he made lots of friends. The staff here were some of the friendliest we encountered the whole trip :thumbsup2

The interior is very pretty and feels exotic with lots of jewel tones and stained glass. The floors look and feel rough like you are outdoors, but indeed it's just another Disney Detail :thumbsup2

mms_picture.jpg

Our food came quickly after we sat down and the staff brought it over for us.
mms_picture-3.jpg

mms_picture7.jpg

MMMMMMMMMMMM Everything was Delicious! The pita wrap was really good and a similar to a gyro. I think the main difference was the taste of the meat....it was a little more "spicy" with a stronger overall flavor. The couscous and lentils were also very good. The couscous had raisins in it and was slightly sweet. I liked the lentils better, they had a dressing on them that was slightly sour and very light. They were both great compliments to the wrap :thumbsup2

Silas enjoyed a little snack here as well...
mms_picture2-1.jpg

Overall we really enjoyed everything here, the food and the staff, and will definitely be returning.....
This was our 2nd favorite meal of the trip...
Next up...the best meal we have EVER had at Disney!!!!!!!!

We love Tangierine Cafe :goodvibes

The vegetarian platter there is delicious :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your favourite meal popcorn::

So we left off at Tangierine Cafe with a lovely Lamb Wrap....after touring some of World Showcase we made our way over to Mexico. We actually had two reservations (I know I know insert your lecture here) We couldn't decide whether we wanted to eat at San Angel Inn or try La Hacienda. We looked at the menus online and just couldn't decide!

We went over to the menu posted outside of La Hacienda, and then went into the Mexico Pavilion and looked at the menu at San Angel Inn. We decided we felt like trying La Hacienda so we overheard the Hostess telling walk-ups they weren't taking anyone without an ADR. We ended up telling a party with a mom, dad, and son that they could have our ADR :thumbsup2 We had an hour before our La Hacienda ADR, so we rode the boat ride inside and then went outside and checked in at the hostess stand to see if we could be sat early. It looked PACKED so we expected to wait a long time, but we walked in the lobby and we were buzzed! :woohoo:

The Lobby was really pretty, but very small for the size of the restaurant.
mms_picture1-2.jpg

That's a picture of the lobby decor, the whole restaurant was very modern and elegant.
There's more waiting area outside, but it was SO cold so most people were waiting inside. The restaurant inside is very pretty, with lots of seating in a few different rooms. All the rooms have large windows that have breathtaking views of World Showcase. There are a mixture of tables, booths, and round booths up on a platform. We were seated at a table in the middle of the room, but still had such a nice magical view of World Showcase :wizard:
The restaurant was very busy so it was actually quite loud, but I still found it to be quite relaxing because of the wonderful view and decor.
This was our view, sorry the picture is not good quality but you get the general idea of the size of the windows and the setup of the tables.
mms_picture-6.jpg

Our server came quickly to greet us, his name was Juan-Carlos (but his name tag said JC) He was wonderful through the entire meal, playing with Silas, keeping our drinks replenished, and just being attentive but not in our faces all the time. He asked if we had been there before and explained the menu and took our drink order.
1206101921a.jpg

Here's the Drink Menu, the Tequila Flight looked really good, but would have been on the floor if I drank that!
I ordered Red Wine and Derek ordered a Beer ( I think XX)
mms_picture6.jpg

mms_picture4.jpg

JC also brought some yummy chips and salsa.
mms_picture2-2.jpg

There was a green salsa and a red salsa. The green one was slightly sweet and the red was a little spicy. They were both yummy but we both preferred the spicy red one :thumbsup2 We asked JC for some tortillas to give little man so he could have a snack while we had our chips and salsa. He brought us a basket full and OH MY GOD they were heavenly! :cloud9:
mms_picture4-1.jpg

They were most definitely made fresh and were nice and fluffy, still warm, and absolutely the best tortillas I have ever had. The menu said they were corn, but they tasted like they were a cross between corn and flour tortillas. We started eating them with the red salsa and couldn't stop!

We decided to order
mms_picture3-2.jpg

La Hacienda - mixed grill offering flank steak, chicken al pastor, chorizo and vegetables, served with rice, beans, and fresh salsa $49.95
We didn't expect much from this because to be honest the menu description doesn't do it justice...
mms_picture2.jpg
mms_picture3.jpg

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I cant even describe how simply devine the whole platter was! We ate so many tortillas, but we still somehow ate almost the entire thing...they served the platter with more tortillas and I think we polished those off too :scared1: The flank steak we ordered medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. It was so tender and the marinade was awesome. The chicken was probably our least favorite item on the platter (although we still ate it all) because it was kind of dry but had lots of flavor. I think it may have been smoked. We shredded some on the chicken up for Silas and he ate it right up! We also made little tacos with the steak and chicken in the tortillas...ok my mouth is officially watering as I right this! I have to take a snack break :rotfl:

Ok I'm back....:lmao:

The little mini chorizos were also absolutely amazing and had a nice bite to them. They were packed with flavor and I seemed to eat most of them  The platter was complimented with some grilled veggies including peppers, squash, pearl onion, corn, and chilis. The corn was topped with some queso fresco and yummy yummy yummy. The veggies we used to make the little tacos too.

Overall we left stuffed, happy, and raving to the manager about how wonderful the service and food was. We will absolutely be back on our next trip!

Wow, your dinner at La Hacienda looks like a real feast :cool1:

I would be interested to try LH because I hear that they have a seperate vegetarian menu

It certainly was! I didnt see that menu, although i didnt ask either...i wouldn;t doubt it though since their service was so good. It seems like they really care about the guests there.

great reviews - I loved Contempo Cafe in 2009 when we visited but I'm sure my ceasar salad had croutons :( and remember the kids getting burgers.

Loved the look of La Hacienda - that would be on my shortlist for next year.

Also thought Tangierine Cafe looked nice but our experience of the mixed pittas was awful. Might have to give it another go.

Thanks for reading!

We started this morning off just Silas and myself....since Derek didn't want to get up, big surprise I know! Oh well I was actually able to make it to rope drop though! Silas and I really enjoyed that :) We walked into Magic Kingdom, did a few things, and then Silas was yelling at me for some breakfast. We decided to duck into Main Street Bakery and get something delicious:thumbsup2

I had actually never been in here. I have read about it soooo many times here on the DIS and that famous french toast loaf. But of course that is gone so we made a choice of, you guess it, Ham Egg and Cheese on a Croissant! What can I say, I'm a creature of habit! Here is that little morsel of yumminess...

mms_picture1-3.jpg

mmmmmmmmmm The eggs were nice and fluffy, there was a cheese sauce in the middle of the eggs, and than the ham was nice and fresh and thinly sliced. The croissant was flaky and buttery and soooooo good. The sandwich was heaven on a plate! We actually took my breakfast over into the baby care center so we could warm up since there was no seating at all inside the bakery. This was around 10am.

Next up...another new meal, Restaurantosaurus!

After MK, we took a break (well not exactly a restful break, but if you read my TR you'll find out what we did :goodvibes) and then went over to AK. Here's a hunt to what we did...we got a ride in a shuttle van to AK! Anywhooooo We were over near finding Nemo and getting hungry. We were contemplating trying Yak and Yeti CS but had already had Chinese Food this week, so I said how bout Restaurantosaurus??? We agreed to go see what they had to eat and if there was seating.

We walked over to dino-land and found it! It is tucked away and the theme I think is an archeological dig site. They actually had a decent selection, I was assuming it was just cheeseburgers....here's the menu...

100_1072.jpg

The choices were a Cheeseburger, Chicken Nuggets, Shrimp Po Boy, or Vegetable Sub. The kids meals here were cute and came in their own bucket with shovel. I did notice though that the kids meals were a little higher priced here....

I ordered the Vegetable Sub
100_1076.jpg

It had Zucchini, Red Peppers, Mushrooms, Cheese on a toasty roll. I ordered fries, I mean I got a healthy sandwich right???? It was pretty good, the veggies were a little mushy though. The cheese and toasty bread made the sandwich. It was also a little on the small side and I ended up nibbling on Derek's Cheeseburger while he took Silas to the bathroom...:rolleyes1

Derek ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries

100_1074.jpg

He said it was decent....the roll is wheat, so at least that parts healthy :thumbsup2

Here's a few pics of the condiments bar as well...he loaded his up but I got the pic before he took it up to the bar...
100_1084.jpg

100_1085.jpg

Here's a few pics of the inside as well, the ambiance in here is nice and I bet it is nice and cool in the summer. The lighting is a little low and there is TONS of seating.

100_1082.jpg

100_1078.jpg

Overall we liked it here and ended up going back for a little snack of chicken nuggets a little later (remember I said my sandwich was small???) I've tried Flametree BBQ and Pizzafari, and I have to say none of them have thrilled me so far. I think next trip we are going to do Tusker House and Yak and Yeti so hopefully one of those will knock our socks off!

That croissant looks deeeee-licious! I am going to have to get me one of those.:yay:
