Does anyone know if you can pay for choice seats on AA or US Airways using FF miles?

I don't think so. I flew on AA today, paid $24 for a choice seat as a treat to myself. Didn't want to be in the back of an MD80.

$24 isn't bad. Choice seats for my flight on US Airways are $56. Not sure if it will be any cheaper at check-in.

It wasn't an extra legroom seat, it was in row 14 on the side with 2 seats. I have 15a on the way home, it was $14.

What are "Choice" seats on USAirways?
We just booked a flight with vouchers (received for a horrendous flight experience) and were told they do not have extra-legroom. Would have gladly paid for an upgrade with a bit more space.

That's cheap for those seats. If I remember correctly, my friend and I each paid $30-35 for those seats. But we're flying Boston to LAX.
They aren't extra legroom seats. It seems that AA needs x number of FAs per a set number of passengers. Well, if they kept the configuration the way it was, they would have had to put an addtl FA on board due to there being 4 too many passengers. So, they took the middle seats out of rows 14 and 15. Now, while there is still an actual middle seat there, it has a tray across it, no one can sit there!! So nice that we can spread out a bit for that long flight. I get my window seat, she gets her aisle seat, with no one between us!!! But, there are only the two rows that do this....it takes away four seats total.
