Hi all! My twin nieces are turning 6 while we are in the world and id like to surprise them w a personalized chocolate slipper. I know I have to pre order.... are they available at Akershus? Can anyone share experiences?

I think they are only available at CRT and 1900 Park fare. They are 12.50 each and when I called last week, I was offered the option between dark or white chocolate at CRT. Also, CRT is the only place where the slipper is served on top of a small square piece of cake.

Unfortunately not at the Akershus. The slipper dessert is available at any of the Grand Floridian restaurants, CRT, and at the Contemporary although I don't know at which restaurants.

Is it really only $12.50? I expected it to be waaay more than that! Is there a website I (and OP ;))can find for info on this? I've also seen a chocolate mickey with chocolate covered strawberries... Are there more custom deserts like this?

Sorry for the thread jack OP! Just figured it wasn't worth it to have two nearly the same threads, and maybe my questions will get you some more info too :)

I'm pretty sure they are around $15, and are only available in the Grand Floridian restaurants and in CRT.

Here is the one DBF got for me at Narcoosees:

Thanks!!! I will be ordering one when we go to 1900 PF. Is there anything I can do extra special at Akershus? We will be there on their actual bdays.

Call Grand Floridian Private Dining (407)824-2474 to order.
I just ordered two last weekend for our trip coming up. It's my 5 year old niece's first time in Disney World and I want to make it extra special for her. We will be at 1900 Park Fare on our first night so I ordered them for there.

I've always wanted to try one of these and we'll be at 1900 Park Fare on June 2. This trip we're celebrating our 18 year old son's HS graduation but I'm quite certain he doesn't want Cinderella's slipper brought to our table as a surprise for him!! :goodvibes
Would it be silly to order one just for fun so I can try it? They look so yummy!! What are my choices? White chocolate or dark? Is that rasberry filling in the pictures above? Any info would be wonderful!!

Thanks!
Carla

I don't think it's silly at all!!! :thumbsup2 Go for it, they're really good too! Yes, that is raspberry sauce on that one (white chocolate slipper, white chocolate mousse; dark chocolate teardrop, dark chocolate mousse; white chocolate and raspberry garnishes).

As far as what you can do at Akershus, I know that you are able to order specialty cakes and other things like that at most of the restaurants. This link has a few suggestions. The mini surprise princess cakes might be a good fit for the princess meal!

We got one for one of my girls at CRT when she turned 7, and she was thrilled! It's the cutest dessert and delicious too! It was about $15. Totally worth it though. :thumbsup2

we ordered ours from chef brian at the contemp to be served to dd at chef mickeys. i called the cake hotline and went through the prompts i believe and got someone there who sadly didn't even know who lightning macqueen was....after a first bad convo where she told me they didn't have email i called back and asked for a pastry chefs email and she willingly gave me brians. so be persistant if your trying for one at the contemp.

You can get a mini castle cake instead!

Dd got one during her 7th bday trip in 2008 when we ate at 1900 PF.

The slippers seem to be one of the best kept secrets at GF and CRT. We get one for our kids each year and the eyes of the kids at the neighboring tables get sooo wide when they see it.

We always order an additional slipper. Jay, our favorite server at CRT (Jay's been there for about 15 years. You can ask for his tables by name and you will NOT be disappointed with his service or graciousness.) seems to know everyone's stories at the tables in his area, so we ask him to pick out one to get the slipper as a surprise gift. Last year, it went to a couple in which the husband had just gotten back from Iraq.
