Does anyone know how that cake is made? It's baked in a bundt pan, with chocolate chips in the center and an icing drizzled over the top..

My son-in-law and DGD are raving about it and wanted to know if I could bake one of those cakes myself.. The question is, how do they bake the cake without the chocolate chips in the center melting?

The cake itself just tastes like a really nice dark chocolate cake - that's no problem at all - and the icing is easy enough to make (I've done it for many other bundt cakes) - it's the chips that have me stumped..

Anyone know the secret?

Thanks!

That cake is soooo gooood!!!

Ok, sift some flour through the chocolate chips before you stir them into the batter. Kinda coat the chips in the flour. That will help them not fall to the bottom during cooking.

Send me one too!!!

You might try searching thru Pilsburry. That is where the cakes come from. They arrive at the KFC's frozen.

Thanks so much! I'm going to see if I can track it down.. :goodvibes

You are welcome. Hope you can track it down. I tried searching a bit for you. I got interested to find out if they have the recipe out there. All I came up with was a bunch of nutritional info. Maybe you will have better luck.
Lucky for me I can just grab one and take it home from work. I manage a KFC. Or maybe that's not too lucky at all??? :rotfl2:

I love that cake. We never get take out. But when I see that cake is back I have to have it.

If you are successful let me know

I would love to try and make one

or maybe convince you to make one this summer and i'll pop over for coffee ;) :rotfl:

I say call their customer service line and ask the question directly. I mean they should be understanding considering you cannot get a take out cake everytime you feel like eating one. I think they have a help line.

This cake is as close as it gets and may be the same one they use.....
Super yummy!

CHOCOLATE CHIP FUDGE CAKE (BUNDT)

I'll let you know when and if I find it.. Been busy most of today dealing with some other things..

We really do have to try to meet up this year.. "So close, yet so far apart.." :teeth:

Yoiu can also mix the chips with the powdered cake maix instead of flour. :) You might baking the cake partway so the bottom sets a bit, then pour in the chips, so they do not sink to the bottom or melt fully, then continue baking.

It was a recipe on the Food Network, quite a while back, for Chocolate Heart of Darkness cupcakes, in which you put a chocolate truffle in the middle. Bake for a couple of minutes, then push the truffle in & finish baking. You have to bake it part way before adding the filling so it doesn't sink down into the bottom of the batter before baking.

Variations of the recipe I saw is where you simply add in a miniature Milky Way bar or Carmello or a Rollo or caramel square in the center while baking. I'm sure the candy bar variations are endless. You could even try a miniature Reese's peanut butter cup or Pepperment Patty. :cool1:
