*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

You're so sweet! I know it will, and we're really busy until then, it's last days of summer get togethers and whatnot.

If you're looking to try something new, and money's not an issue, I would totally pick the Grand Floridian. I really, really love that resort. But that's me being selfish, everyone in your group needs to be on board with that one, you know?

I'm staying at the Wilderness Lodge this year and I love it there. Sometimes it does share a bus, but it's never been inconvenient to me. And there's something wonderful about having that boat ride to the Magic Kingdom. Cool for T, and convenient with new baby's stroller not having to be folded up like on the busses. Of course, the monorail is more convenient.:lmao:

If you know you're going to spend the majority of your time at the Magic Kingdom, I would stick with that area of resorts.

For an Epcot resort, I would totally pick the Beach Club. I love that one as well, and being able to walk to Epcot is priceless, truly. Think walking back to your resort after Illuminations instead of having to bus it. Soooo nice. Also, you can boat to Epcot and DHS, so very convienent in that respect.

If I were to pick a mod for your family, I would POFQ. It's the smallest mod, you're able to use the amenities at POFQ and POR, and it's a great atmosphere.

HTH!:goodvibes

I love the Grand Floridian too. But my mom feels it's too stuffy and overly formal. I'm hoping when my dad visits for breakfast and dinner at 1900 Park Fare next week, he'll be convinced that we need to stay there. Then my mom will be outnumbered :lmao:

I can't wait to visit WL. My dad used to be a camp counselor in the Catskills. He loves the whole lodge/outdoorsy theme. Plus, there are lots of dining options there too.

The Beach Club is also tempting. Stormalong Bay, Beaches & Cream, proximity to the Boardwalk, Epcot, and DHS :cloud9:

While a split stay may make sense, it would probably be too much trouble switching resorts with two kids.

Certainly there must be some way you can convince her. Bribe her if necessary.:lmao:

It's really a nice resort, just the Roaring Forks quick service location is small and can get crowded. But there are so many other plusses to staying there, and you're a planner, I know you could work around that.

Mmm...Beaches & Cream...and since you're doing deluxe dining, I would love to recommend to you the Yachtsmen Steakhouse. I'm not a red meat eater typically, but the steak I had there was the best of my entire life. Something about the way they use a type of oak indigineous to Florida to smoke or grill it, it was amazing.

While a split stay may make sense, it would probably be too much trouble switching resorts with two kids.

I would hate to have to move with the kids. I remember how much junk you need to carry when you're taking a one year old. It's a lot. IMHO, better to pick one resort and just park it.:goodvibes

so r u closing this report down on Friday?

I am going to close my pre tr the day before and start my tr with my itinerary.

Hmmm how can I bribe mom? :lmao:

Captain Cooks at the Poly is small also.

I don't really eat red meat either But on the rare occasion I do it, I like good steak.

I agree with you about resort switching. I'm not used to traveling with baby stuff. I imagine it's a lot. So, we're just going to spend the 8 days at one resort. Makes life so much easier!

Oh your birthday is soon!!! Maybe we'll be in Disney the same time next year. We just need to figure out when we're going :rotfl2:

Since this ptr is over 200 pages, I'm going to close it down and start a new thread over on the tr board. Now, I just need a title.

Did you book for 2009?

The AAA TA called me back. And good news!!! The package price is less

Disney Prices:

August 5-12, Polynesian Garden View room
8 day park hoppers
deluxe dining
insurance

3 adults, 1 child (5): 6015.62
2 adults, 1 infant: 4604.36

AAA Prices:

3 adults, 1 child (5): 5597.10
2 aduilts, 1 infant: 4118.82

Those packages are on hold until Monday. Apparently, you can only hold a package for 7 days without a deposit now. Well, that works for us. We check in Saturaday and will find out if we get a bounceback offer that beats the 15% AAA discount.

As of right now, the dates aren't set in stone and neither is the resort. My mom really wants to resort hop next week before settling on one resort.

I think you should book next year's trip soon ;)
We probably will sometime after we get home and make sure all the bills are paid... I gotta talk to my mom 1st however because she's planning on going with us next year :) and I need to make sure we get the best deal since we will have an extra person :)

I wanna go with ya all next year. My birthday is on the 16th..maybe I could talk Dane into 2 trips next year:idea:

Yay for semi-plans that will most likely probably change but serve wonderfully as a security blanket!

I'm looking forward to hearing about the resort-hopping. I think I'd like to give it a go during my next trip. :goodvibes

You have been busy with the numbers lately! :goodvibes

Hurray for five days!!! I just can't believe that in five days you will be at the Contemporary! How cool is that???

I think I would try the Beach Club. I think the location would be nice and the kids would love SAB!

Of the Monorail resorts I think with the little ones I would do the Poly. Again for the theming and the pool. While CR and GF are of course wonderful I think on a young child the theme at Poly would be much more fun.

I do love POFQ as well. It is a nice, small, charming resort!

I'm BACK!!! :cool1: Did you miss me?! :lmao: DH did not do well at the craps tables in Atlantic City, but Cape May was gorgeous. Will post some pictures on my TR. Our room was beautiful, but SO overpriced. lol

So ... let's see what I wanted to comment on, now that I'm all caught up. (I'm afraid to even try to see if I can catch up on Jordan's, but we'll see how the evening progresses... and my laundry .... :rotfl:

:lmao: I'm going to pose with my Quiche Lorraine at Chefs de France. I get the feeling the French waitstaff may think I'm bonkers.

We had the BEST waiter last year at Chefs de France. Took a great photo with DD... I will be posting on my TR soon...

prozac is good. :thumbsup2
Xanax is a good choice, too. ;)

Unlike my kindergartners, I don't always share :lmao:
This reminded my of something a number of years ago that made me laugh! DD is very well behaved - one day my cousin said he just couldn't understand how a kid could be so "good" and he said, "will you just RUN WITH SCISSORS or something?!" :rotfl:

Doing the single digit dance with you:

Go Jordan,:woohoo: go Jordan, :woohoo: go Jordan...:woohoo:

Wahooty Jennifer!!! :cool1:

I bought a couple of half gallons of Dels lemonade at Stop & Shop yesterday because Grey Goose is on sale this week for 24.97. and I plan on making some Grey Goose Slushies!!! :drinking: I`ll take pictures! :rotfl:
ooo.... sounds good... when are we invited?! :goodvibes

I got interesting mail today. And not the Disney variety.
I got a letter from my principal introducing new faculty members and telling us about our first meeting of the school year. This lovely letter was sent with my class list. Reality is setting in and I want it to go away!

I'm going to pretend it was a letter from Mickey Mouse, telling me my trip is only 8 days away.

That's just NOT RIGHT.

Pizza would get my vote! I get kinda quirky the night before a trip. I would stay away from fried foods just in case it made someone sick. Onion ring overload or something the night before would not be a good thing.

Allyson :)

Oooo, me too. The "night before a trip" I serve the blandest food possible. Of course, DD and DH have iron stomachs... it's ME that can't eat anything!!!!

I'd also choose Italian, because, I'm sorry folks, but there is NO GOOD ITALIAN FOOD IN THE SOUTH. :lmao:

2009 trip plans better be the last week of June!!! ;)

Do you know if all BC rooms have balconies? Does the WL share buses with any other resorts?
I can't remember if all BC rooms have balconies, but they don't all have "Full" balconies, or if maybe only some have balconies. I do know I've heard that all YC rooms have "full balconies".

That is, except for the first floor rooms, which seem to have nice-sized patios.

There's a whole thread about the BC/YC rooms where you can ask the question and get a quick response.

Try here.

It is a great security blanket. At least I have something tentatively booked.

When are you thinking about going back for another trip?

You have been busy with the numbers lately!

Hurray for five days!!! I just can't believe that in five days you will be at the Contemporary! How cool is that???

Very busy! But it's so not my thing. My mom works in finance. I should have just let her go through the different prices.

I cannot believe it either. On Saturday, I'll be watching the monorail zip through the Contemporary

I think I would try the Beach Club. I think the location would be nice and the kids would love SAB!

I agree with you about the CR and GF. I'll see how T likes the CR during our one night stay. But it's nice to be able to go back to the Poly on Sunday.

I think if we do moderate, POFQ would be it. I do like the resort size and theme.

Sorry to hear your DH didn't do well at the craps table. I can't wait to see pics of Cape May. I've never been.

At some point this week, I will order from Gino's Trattoria. I agree with you about Italian food. I haven't found good Italian outside of the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT).

We're still trying to decide on when to go. Right now, I priced August again. But we may be able to go end of June.

Thanks for the link!!!

I have to investigate this balcony situation. Or wait for your tr.

4 days!!!!!!!

:woohoo: :yay:  :dance3:  :yay: :woohoo:

Woo hoo!!!

4 days until Disney!!!

I'm so excited. I cannot believe the trip is only 4 days away. And the best part is our flight is early Saturday morning. We won't have to wait around all day just to leave.

I didn't overschedule myself for the week. As of right now, I only have plans on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tuesday: Relax at home. Get some cleaning done. Order cakes for 1900 Park Fare and CRT.

Wednesday: Lunch with a friend.

Thursday: Eyebrow waxing appointment with Eliza at Exhale. Hair appointment. Then home!

Friday: Mom's off from work. She'll be here with all of the luggage, waiting for my dad and T to arrive from Maryland. We're also going to get last minute things done. I'll call the car service company to arrange a morning pick up. We'll order in for dinner. Try to get to bed early.

Saturday: Wake up and head to the airport :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
