*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

I have never had a Dole Whip or Dole Float. How did I miss them? :confused3 Where can I find them? MK? I wonder if they sell them at teh Poly.
AHAHHHHHHHHH!

You need to at least try it! Aloha Isle in Adventureland in MK. I also heard that there is a self serve soft serve in the Poly of Dole Whip.

I :lovestruc the float! Some people like, some people don't...give it a shot...

Hi Jennifer!
T- is adorable as usual!
We like the Mickey mouse rice crispy treats (create your own), at goofy candy company. We drizzle ours with chocolate and sprinkles-- very good!:thumbsup2 I have never had a dole whip either! Thats a must do for our Sept trip!:goodvibes

Hi, this is the first I have had a chance to read the entire PTR and catch up on it.

Great PTR so far and I have to say your little nephew is cute as can be!!!! And yup he sure does like Jasmine LOL.

How did you find the crowds last summer? This is the first time I will ever be going in the summer so did you find the waits horrible? What time in June 07 did you go?

Can you send your mom to help me with my packing? Last trip I had three full size suitcases, and two carry on bags. And I was only there for 9 days…..:rotfl:

So glad you are all better from the surgery. I understand how complications went. I had surgery to remove my tonsils in Jan of 06. As an adult its one of the worst things you can do. But after getting strep five plus times a year, my doctor finally said it had to be done. I had to go back in the hospital because it hurt so much I couldn’t eat or drink. I still had issues till May of that year with coughing and my throat being sore. But I have not had a sore throat once since then

I so would love to do the Garden Grill. Maybe one day….

 Hi Jennifer, I've caught up and now I'm hooked. As is the consensus of opinion I think T is just SO gorgeous. Glad to hear you're now on the mend:flower3: . I've never done DDP or DDxDP, I will be booking through a US tour operator and was wondering how much they work out at per day for adults and children:confused: ?

We visited Michael' last year when we were in WDW and I counldn't believe how fabby it is. I brought home three cake tins and loads of cake decorating items, I was on :cloud9:

What program do you use for digital scrapbooking?

See with regular scrapbooking, I can go to Michael's and buy stickers, different papers, etc. It's like a shopping high.

I know, I love being in the store and physically buying all the cute little items to scrapbook.

For digital, I just use photoshop and lay it out the way I want. I go to places on the web that sell kits or individual "embellishments" for digital scrapbooking. You buy and download right there. A good place to start is digitalscrapbookplace - dot- com. You can look at a gallery of pictures of pages that others have done. You can purchase scrapbooking "art", and they even have a page of freebies that they update regularly so if you wanted to try it you could with no risk.

Dole whip and dole float have both made it to my MUST TRY list.

Thanks!!!
I missed Goofy's Candy Company and all of DTD last trip. I have to make sure to head over and make rice crispy treats. I love them!!! And so does T. Not sure if I want to give him that much sugar :lmao:

I'm glad I'm not alone with the dole whips :rotfl2:

Thanks!!

Disney was crowded, but manageable. We were there the last week of June and made rope drop a few mornings. MK was practically empty and we go on lots of rides with no wait. Since I teach, I usually only go in the summer. I don't think the crowds are that bad. The heat is worse :lmao:

I'm going to send my mom to you. You just have to mail her back to NYC.

I am feeling much better thanks :)

I highly recommend the Garden Grill. The food is great and it's a relatively quiet character meal. The polar opposite of Chef Mickey's.

:welcome:
Thanks!!! T is a little charmer.
Deluxe dining is $69.99/day for adults and 19.99/day for children. I'm not sure about the DDP. We really loved it, but we only ate table service and it does take a lot of time.

I hope you plan on visiting Michael's again!

Thanks for the info!!! I'm checking out that website tonight.
And I really want to order one of those photobooks that you got from the Photopass website. I got lots of great ideas from your tr :thumbsup2

My favorite snack at WDW...either beer or a vodka/cran........really.;)

I don't drink beer, but vodka/cran is an everywhere snack for me :lmao:
I have a bottle of Grey Goose, Kettel One, and Stoli Vanilla at home right now. I don't drink at home, but if I have company I can whip up something (especially since I can't cook ::rotfl2: ).

Stoli vanilla and cream soda is even better than vodka & cran :thumbsup2

I love funnel cake too. Yum! And for some reason popcorn tastes better in Disney. What do they put on it? I've never bought cookies from the Main Street Bakery. That's a must for August.

I think the food is better at WDW than DL, but I haven't been to DL since 2004. If you like Mint Juleps, you can get it in DL. I've yet to be able to order Mint Juleps at WDW.

You have to do another food report when you get back.

Believe it or not, I think I will love DLR food b/c I like snack and junk food. I honestly don't have to do all of the TS meals at WDW. I prefer CS. :confused3 My DH said I will like DLR. He is from Cali (L.A.) and he grew up on DLR. He just migrated to the South b/c he went to undergrad here in the ATL (Yellow Jackets, baby)!! I am the virgin on the DLR trip.

I plan to do a Food Report about the June trip to WDW and Sept Trip to DLR. :cool1:

I can't wait to read your food report. Have you made any ADRs yet?

Where are you staying when you're in So Cal?

What part of Georgia are you from? I may be attending a convention in Atlanta in May and I've never been.

I live just about 30 minutes from Atlanta!

Hi Jen,

So you are going to be here in Atlanta in May??? I live 5 mins from the airport and 15 mins from downtown. Send me a PM.

The three of us should totally have a mini-DIS meet! It would be a blast

I may be in Atlanta in May for the International Reading Association Convention. Not 100% sure yet.

I should go to the IRA conference too :scratchin ! I am not kidding when I say we should get together for drinks or something if you end up coming!

I think a mini-DIS meet would be so much fun!!! We can have dinner and drinks.

If you decide to go to the IRA conference, let me know. I should know by the end of the week if I'm going.

Definitely! :thumbsup2 Depending on where you stay, Atlanta is full of good restaurants!

I'll definitely put out some feelers with my admin. when I get back from FL. I have never been to one of IRA's conferences and since it is actually in Atlanta this year, it seems like a great opportunity.

Try popcorn:: with an icy cold Coca Cola in Disney! :cloud9:

Oh great snack!!!
I only drink Coca Cola at Disney. If I drank that at home, I'd have rotting teeth :lmao:

I better bring some elastic waist pants when I go in August. With all the snacks I plan on trying, I wonder if I'll fit on the plane :rotfl2:

Frozen Coke from Scuttles Landing in Fantasy Land!!:cloud9:

I've never had a frozen Coke. That goes on the Must Try list with the Dole Whip & Float. My mom is going to have to roll me out of the MK :rotfl:

Definitely! :thumbsup2 Depending on where you stay, Atlanta is full of good restaurants!

Oh I hope I get to go to the IRA conference! I love trying new restaurants.

There are going to be some great speakers and authors at the conference. Print out the info and give it to your school admin.

I just looked up the keynote speakers: Christopher Paul Curtis, Walter Dean Myers, Alice Walker, Gail Carson Levine!!! They are all authors we read in my classroom!!! Not to mention Richard Allington is someone I would love to hear speak about his work!!!

I am even willing to strike a deal with my admin. now so that I can go!

Here's pixie dust for both of us! pixiedust:
