Chit Chat Thread - November ADRs...

I thought I knew what you meant, but then I confused myself; is Minnie's with Fantasmic also one, or does the Fantasmic make it two (an extra credit for the Fantasmic)?
Haha!! I can see how that could mean two totally different things! Sorry!! I didn't say it clearly. Hope u get it! I'm hoping for it too! I have it without fantasmic and I'm still looking for fantasmic package.

I think out of desperation for not having anything to plan right now, I'm contemplating a search for an 'Ohana dinner LOL! I don't know that there's anything I want to cancel to make room for the dinner though. We went in 2011 and loved it and then went in 2013 and it was horrible, so I kinda want to go back and see what I think on this trip...

I really want/need a TS dinner in or near MK for our first park day. I was able to finally grab a Tony's ADR tonight. I'd really love a Chef Mickey's or 1900PF instead. Fingers still crossed.

Keep your eyes open. The cancellation thread is hopping lately from people getting their FPs and dropping some ADRs. I may also be canceling some since I can't even make up my mind on what park to go to.

I called to see if I could change my room last night (hoping that something opened up closer to the main building in CBR) and was told that if they change my room I might lose my free dining. I told the CM not to check and thought that it would be best to call back another time. Is this true? I'm not willing to give up free dining for a 10-15 minute walk. I was booked in a preferred room and when free dining was announced they had to move me to a pirate room in Trinidad south (furthest from the pool & dining)
I was thinking that there might be cancellations now that we are nearing the 45 day mark. Any suggestions?

I agree! I got Akershus and Minnie's holiday done this week!! Things are opening up every day!:)

I am! I hadn't been able to get anything, so I decided I'd take the Tony's for now, with the hope I can get what I want a little closer to time. I might need to sign up for Scout, but I really don't want to. It's kind of a principle thing (or just plain hard headedness).

The free dining promotion ended so I think if you cancel you cannot rebook into that promotion. I would think the rooms that people book and cancel as free dining rooms probably just go into general inventory since the promo is over but don't quote me on that! We stayed in a pirate room at CBR last year. The walk to the pool area is not bad, I timed 8 minutes with my 5 year old plus it's a really pleasant walk just stay along the lake. My only complaint is we didn't really use our mugs since it wasn't convenient to head to the dining area before scooting to the parks.

I'm getting frustrated. Our dining is set except the 8th, my dad's birthday. He gave me four potential restaurants and I haven't gotten one at a reasonable hour (I managed Ohana at 8:45 which won't work for my kids). Obviously, Ohana is a hard get but Cape May too?

Still 59 days left but argh! This is my one missing piece!

Thank you! I'm not going to risk it! Glad to hear it is 8 minutes. That's not bad at all.

I'm still stuck to the cancelation thread but only because I'm hoping to find a Minnie's Dine In with F! (we have the dinner without F! booked, and we also have a lunch at MM with F!. but I would love to drop them both for Minnie's with F!). it seems like there's still a ton of movement in the cancellation thread though, which I think is great :)

I do have a question that's been stuck in my mind, and I'm wondering if anyone knows the answer. I had a good reservation I didn't need (6:00 dinner at BOG) and last week I tried to coordinate with another DISer. we agreed on a time and I made sure she was searching before I dropped it, but she said it didn't ever show up. something similar happened to me in the spring when I tried to pick up a BOG dinner from a DISer--she dropped it at a specific time when i was searching and it didn't show up at all. I would have thought that if someone else had been quicker in either case that the time would have appeared, but would say unavailable before we could grab them. so my question: with higher ticket meals is it possible that disney can put some kind of hold on released ADRs? I'm thinking maybe there's a way to do this for club level folks who have concierges booking their meals, or maybe if there's some VIP who wants to be there? I guess it could be bad timing, but in both cases it seems like the reservations went too quickly for it to just be chance.

I also had an unsuccessful ADR coordination after many successful ones. The other person was searching, I released the ADR, but it never showed up. It was for an 8:10am BOG breakfast, so also a popular one. Maybe it was just bad luck but after many successful drop and grabs, I was surprised that this one didn't work out.

Keep checking cancellation board. There are a lot showing up. I remember seeing a few on the 8th too.

This happened to me yesterday. I was online trying to grab a reservation from another DIS member (through the cancellation thread). I was ready, hitting "Find a Table" 2 minutes before our agreed upon time. It never showed up. She said she even saw it available right after she cancelled it but it never showed up on my side. I literally hit "Find a Table" every 5 seconds, from 2 minutes before the time up until 15 minutes after she cancelled it. I was so sad. :sad1:

This is exactly my situation too--I've planned 3 disney trips with the help of the boards, and every ADR I've coordinated (either as the person dropping a reservation or picking one up) has worked with the exception of these two BOG dinners. It could just be bad luck, but it seems surprising for them to not even appear as an option for a brief second. That's why it feels to me like it could be a computer program that holds the reservations it needs the moment they're dropped. I've coordinated other BOG dinners successfully though, so it seems like a rare problem.

I'm sorry you couldn't grab the reservation! Like I said, I've definitely been the person hitting the find button over and over but not actually finding the reservation I know someone has just released. It's definitely sad, but the good news is there's still lots of time and lots of chance you'll find something that works for your group :) I'm really just curious whether there's a system in place that lets disney hold reservations for high-status guests or something--in these cases it seems like they disappear way too quickly for it to just be good luck. But then again, maybe I'm underestimating the average trip planner!

That is interesting...I've read that Disney claims to release all reservations but then there randomly seems to be a group of reservations that open up all at the same time? So who knows? Or maybe the restaurant gets overbooked and they don't rerelease some ADRs? It's all a guess I suppose! Sorry you didn't get it though - that stinks!

I will say that CL guests don't get any special treatment. The Itinerary Planning Office (IPO) that searches for CL guests uses the same system as everyone. Basically every morning the IPO goes through their list and checks the dining system to see if anything has opened up for people's wish list. Since they only check every morning most CL guests still check on their own.

Alright people...I need some help! Assuming you could get these reservations, would you choose:

1. QS for lunch at MK with a BOG dinner

or

2. BOG for lunch and an 'Ohana dinner

I'm so torn! I want to try BOG for dinner (even though I've heard the food at lunch is better) because I feel like it will be a slower meal where I can enjoy the ambience of the restaurant more than I could at a QA lunch. But it's also the only day I'd be willing to change my ADRs to fit dinner into our schedule.

Thoughts??

Done both for dinner and both were great BUT..... Be our guest was definitely our favorite!! The food was great and the dining room was breathtaking. Ohana was great food and tons of it, but we chose be our guest to do again, but not Ohana. I hope that helps. Y not do be our guest for both quick and full service? We are this year just bc we have never tried their quick service.

Have the same problem. I have Minnie's holiday dine without fantasmic and its at 5:45, so no way to even get in line for fantasmic after eating I have been searching 500 times a day for fantasmic package with no luck. We still have time......good luck!!

I usually use two computers when I am trying to grab a reservation. I have found that when I search for the specific time instead of "dinner", the reservation will show up.
