I'm sorry to say that I actually prefered the Chinese Theater. The hat is fine for a time, but I hope they eventually dismantle it.

You know, for the amount of time they have spent getting the Chinese Theater to look BETTER than the ACTUAL one in LA (LOL!) they sure have blown it putting something in front of it. And the hat does kind of ruin the whole 'hollywood' / art deco thing going on in MGM.

JMHO
;)

I agree with someone's else suggestion on another board -- the hat belongs at the Fantasmic entrance.
Or maybe by the ASMo pool! ;)

The hat was cute for a while , but when I look back at our pictures before the hat , it is a lot better view. The same with those "tombs" in front of the ball at Epcot !

I have nothing against the hat, per se. What I don't like is the fact that the hat is sitting in front of the gorgeous Chinese Theatre. They should have placed the hat elsewhere within the park.

The hat looks out of place & theme. I love the old Hollywood feel and it definitely ruins it.

Chinese Theatre was my choice :)

I love the Hat. It is such a great Disney Icon. I have seen the real Mann's and I just don't think it is anything to get that excited about.

I also think that the hat belongs some where else. It just seems so out of place.

I think the hat looks out of place... and the *novelty* wore off quick for me....(sorry ......) kinda like Cinderella's Birthday Cake Castle...I was glad to see THAT go!

I like the suggestion of the Hat being placed near the entrance to Fantasmic! Seems a more appropriate location to me......:p

Got to agree about the hat. It really should be set up elsewhere. It's a great idea but would look better in another setting. The first time we went to MGM, the sight of the Chinese Theater took my breath away! It looked so Hollywood! And yes, LOL, even better than the one in LA.

By the way, have they ever done a reinactment of a "celebrity" putting his or her hands in the wet cement? That would be such a hoot!

I have to agree that it really looks out of place there. If it were more than a cheesy gift shop, maybe it would be appropriete but sitting in front of the Theater is just unforgiveable. Perhaps in the courtyard in front of the animation building.

I picked the Chinese Theatre. The hat looks out of place and doesn't fit in with the rest of the decor of Hollywood Blvd. The Chinese Theatre is a gorgeous piece of architecture. The attention to detail is amazing. I think the Hat looks tacky. Seems more appropriate for a modern looking area such as Downtown Disney or Disney Quest.

They've also ruined Spaceship Earth with the wand the ugly Epcot font on top. I too hate the Leave A Legacy tombstone like entrance. I miss the old gardens and the original fountain. I feel like I'm walking through a war vets memorial.

We just got back and it appears the hat may be undergoing a change. There is a construction fence around it; is it possible they are dismantling it since the 100 Years celebration is ending? The Great Movie Ride was closed for rehab, also.

I've visited the real Chinese theater many times. Frankly I was horrified on my recent visit to MGM. The hat makes it impossible to get a good view of the theater which is amazing in its attention to detail. I agree with many of the posters here that it looks very out of place. I frankly don't understand what they were thinking when they did this and the sooner it leaves the better IMHO.

The Chinese Theatre really set the tone and feel for the whole park. The hat is neat but just seems out of place and considering what it is blocking it just takes something away from the original vision of the park.

Oh we like the hat - we just want it moved a little!:Pinkbounc

The theater definitely gets my vote.

My biggest gripe with the hat (aside from it looking out of place), is that you cannot get a good photo of the theater at any angle anymore!
