Is it true that the Chinese Acrobats have left (or are going to be leaving) the China Pavillion? And if this is true, will they be replaced by another troupe. I will be at WDW June 8-14th.

I was really looking forward to seeing them perform.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Sadly it is true, WDW chose not to renew their contract. Disney said they will be replaced with "new" entertainment. You can see Chinese acrobats at Sea World in the Allure show.

Thank you. That is what I was afraid of but was hoping I was wrong. Thanks for the additional information.

They announced in December that the contract would not be renewed, and the acrobats performed their last show in early Feb... Still no word on what this "new entertainment" is that will be replacing them, and it looks like letting them go may be a cost cutting measure rather than an attempt to offer something fresh and new.

Right now, Mulan is meeting in the area where they used to perform rather than in her usual spot on the porch outside the terra cotta warriors exhibit.

That rots. I was so looking forward to seeing them in August. We thoroughly enjoyed them.

bummer. thanks for the info. I had planned our Epcot day and ADR around them because we missed it last year :(

Not that it helps, but the Chinese acrobats at Sea World are part of the same company. (They are not the same performers). But if you REALLY want to see acrobats they are still some in Orlando. They do some really awesome gravity defying moves. (And the theater is airconditioned :thumbsup2)

Not happy about this. With the news that the British Invasion is possibly leaving Epcot, it makes you wonder -- What is going on? I am fine with it if they are replacing everything with something equally interesting/entertaining, but I'm not happy if they are doing this as a cost cutting measure.

According to Steve Soares' website, the replacment is Lion Dancers. Don't know if it's temporary or permanent.

A poster in another thread mentioned that it seemed like some of the girls didnt really enjoy performing. I actually felt the same way the last time I was there (in OCT). It wasnt very hot out. Maybe it was a bad day for them, maybe Disney didnt allow them to change the routine and they were getting bored with it, who knows. But it did seem like they were just running through the motions. Many of the folks who were watching were leaving in the middle of the routine. If this were true, and this occurred regularly, then I for one am glad that Disney decided to switch things up.
