I loe my chili. And now I want some. Think I will make it for tomorrow.
Here it is, sort of, I don't measure anything.
In a crock pot I put in
ground beef browned with onions*
a large can of crushed tomatoes
a small can of tomato paste
a can of chili beans
4 more cans of various beans, white, black, dark red, garbanzo
half a jar of salsa or a can of Rotel
a chopped onion
2 chopped red peppers
a bag of frozen corn
some jalopenos, chopped (omit if you don't want it spicy)
Top as you wish.
*I keep sloppy joe mix frozen and use this myself, but most of the time when people have asked me for my recipe they just do ground beef. But my sloppy joe mix is...
Brown ground beef with lots of onions and peppers. Add a heaping tablespoon of brownsugar, a splash of vinegar and a teaspoon(ish) of steak seasoning. Then add a small can of tomato paste and a can of crushed tomatoes and simmer. I make tons of this and use it as is for sloppyjoes or as the base of my chili and casseroles.
ETA- I always serve mine with a box or 2 of Jiffy cornbread. I mis some chopped jalopenos and sharp cheddar cheese into the mix before baking. I love those cheap little Jify cornbreads.
