After reading today’s poll from Slo, I’m wanting to make some chili for Sunday to enjoy while we’re passing out candy. My usual chili recipe is ok. But, I’d like to hear your favorite chili recipe! I just might try out something new. Bonus points if I can cook in the crock pot for several hours. That’s my favorite part, to smell it cooking all afternoon!

I keep it REAL simple:
1 pound ground beef
large can of Dei Fratelli crushed tomatoes
two cans of Mrs. Grimes chili beans

Heat and serve...
Kinda what i do now also, add some onion and peper a little more spice. Unfortunately my kido likes it on the blander side. This is easy and everyone will eat it.

Yea, in chili cook offs they dont use beans. I like beans. And chili.

My fave chili has beef, pork, and lamb. They lend different textures. Tomatillos, loads of chopped peppers (Cubanelle, ancient sweets, jalapeno, and Hungarian yellows), onions, garlic, tomato paste, chili powder, and a little alcohol because beef has alcohol soluble flavors. Used mead once and it worked great, if not beer works fine. Thicken it with masa.

I call it Scott Tenorman Chili… Sorry, obscure reference to my favorite South Park episode.

Don't have a specific recipe but basically finely chopped green and red peppers and onions, ground beef or small diced meat, red beans, chili powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, a drop or two of liquid smoke and wait for it.....cocoa powder. Gives such a depth of flavor without being chocolatey.

I do a complicated adaptation from an old Betty Crocker cookbook recipe.

1 lb ground beef
1 large chopped onion
2 cloves minced garlic
1 14 oz can diced tomatoes
1 2 oz can diced green chilies
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 cup beef bouillon
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbs chili powder
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 bay leaf
Dash of cayenne pepper
1 15 oz can kidney beans

I combine everything but the beans and toss it in crock pot on low for 8 hours or dump it in the instant pot on high pressure for 20 minutes. Add the beans at the end.

My recipe is very simple- 1lb of ground beef, browned in the pot with a chopped onion and some minced garlic. Two large cans of tomato sauce, undiluted. Four cans of dark red kidney beans (we like beans), chili powder (I use quite a lot). brown the beef and onion in a bit of vegetable oil and add the minced garlic when it's nearly done. Add the tomato sauce and beans with as much chili powder as you like. Bring to a boil, and then lower and simmer for about an hour. It's supposed to be thick, not soupy. I serve it with a garnish of corn chips and shredded four blend Mexican cheese. Sometimes I make cornbread to go with it. I don't have a recipe for that-I use Jiffy mix.

I am making chili in the crockpot today :thumbsup2

I am just working with the recipe on the McCormick package. I am making it more tomato-y though. I am using 3 Cans of diced tomato, 1 can of tomato sauce, one can of chili beans, a pound of ground beef and 1 package of McCormick mix. Letting that sit in the crockpot for 8 hours.

I make mine with ground turkey. It works with most any recipe.

I'm over 50, and I've never made chili. Lots of other stews, soup, gumbo, etc, but growing up, never had it at home. Following along to get good recipes. My husband makes it every once in awhile. he likes it well enough. Maybe I'll try making it one of these days.....

Add some salt and cumin and my chili is identical to yours. It was my moms recipe that she & her friends served for years at a soup, salad and sandwich fundraiser they held annually for about 10 years. The recipes were so popular that they made a cook book with the soup and dessert recipes they used and added other favorite recipes from the families.

I have it cooking in my crockpot right now; it’s one of my son’s favorite meals

My chili is similar to the chili served at Wendy's:
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 T. olive oil
3/4 cup minced onion
1 can kidney beans, undrained
1 can pinto beans, undrained
1 can petite diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can diced green chilies (7 oz.)
Garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to taste

Fry up the ground beef and onion in the olive oil, breaking up the meat into tiny pieces as it cooks.
Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil; lower heat and simmer for 2 hours.
Pass hot sauce, shredded cheese, and chopped onions for toppings.

I make chili beans...McCormick season packet is my go to recipe... I use ground turkey, tomato sauce and pinto beans. I also simmer for longer than 10 minutes so it gets a little thicker, which I like.
Served with cornbread, shredded cheese and chopped onions.

I actually won a chili cook-off with this last year.
My friend was hosting a fundraiser and they didn't have enough contestants for the cook-off so she asked me. I told her ahead of time I used the packet and she said she didn't care. My chili beans raised over $300 in votes.

I make a vegetarian one...

Sauteed an onion, green pepper, chipotle in adobo, fatali and jalapenos. Plus any peppers I might have processed in the summer.

Add in chili powder, cumin, garlic, salt and pepper.

Add in a few drained cans of black,.kidney, and navy beans.

Then a tomato juice...whatever I have. V8, sauce,.crushed, juice,.etc.

Simmer for hours.

SO good.
