Child's ticket dilema-AP?

Probably know the answer to this one but just wanted to ask to be sure.

On our Novemeber trip, we'll have 6 Disney park days. There is no 6 day PH and we don't have any use right now for the Plus options on the PHP. I'm thinking of buying an AP for myself because of probability of going next year and the discounts available.

Problem is what to do for Daughter's tickets. She'll still be 9 at the start of our trip (11/8) but turns 10 afterwards on 11/19. If you buy a child's AP, and they are legitimately a child when purchased, is the AP invalid after they turn 10? On the next trip would we/could we then upgrade her to an Adult AP? How would that work?

Want to be legal about this but AP would save money for both of us in long run vs a childs PHP when we don't use the Plus and she won't be a child after this next trip.

Thanks for any help or advise!

Sharon

As long as you use the AP for the first time while your daughter is still 9, the pass is still good for the entire year. I don't know if you will need to change her pass to an adult pass for your next trip (within the year). You might want to ask Guest Services at the park about that.

You are legitimately eligible to purchase her a child's AP and it does not become invalid at age 10.

Once she turns 10 you will have two options. You can go to a Guest Relations window and they will exchange the child's pass for an adult one at no charge or you can just continue to let her use it as a child's AP until it expires. No one will question her age.

The only difference between the two is that once she has the adult AP, she will have to start using the finger scanners.

Thanks very much for your replies, Goldenoldie and Kaa!

I didn't know the answer after all cause I certainly thought Disney would want the extra money once the child turned 10. Am very pleasantly surprised! Guess Disney wins too since if both of us have APs then we just have to go again, and again, and again!

Doesn't everyone lie about their kids' ages anyway at the parks? :)

I went to Busch Gardens Tampa a few years ago and my nephew was with us and we handed the ticket-taker his ticket and he commented that he couldn't believe we hadn't just lied about his age so he could get in for free ...

To think the thought had NEVER even occured to us ... what kind of people are we?!? :)

This is one area where Disney doesn't try to get that last dime. :) No lying required - I think their line is "We don't charge kids for growing up."

LOL, Beckles!

I figured if I tried to be less than honest would get tracked down by the Disney Police right there in the middle of MGM or while enjoying fesival of the lion king. Would be on Disney's blacklist for life!

Will lie like a dog about my age but that's another story...

It's a lose/lose situation for the parks no matter what they do ... they could try to enforce it, but that wouldn't make folks happy, so they choose to let it slide and keep the customers happy ...
