Child's ID

I got the Who's Shoes's Id as well as their wrist bracelet Id's. They both are attached with velcro. The Shoe tags go around the girls sandals without bothering them. I got the wrist bracelets as well in case we go to any water parks or what not. (No shoes!) They would work well with the infant. The info is all inside so no one can see the childrens names or your info. I used my lable printer to put the info of our hotels when we travel and our cell number. Have used them at the Zoo, and fairs, etc. Love them. With a 3 and a 4 year old, someone always seems to wander and you don't know they will be when they get "found". After all, we are always telling them not to talk to strangers!

Hi, newbie here, but I've been lurking for a long time.

I haven't seen this idea and have used it since my eldest(24) was little and it works great, inexpensive/free, and waterproof.

Hospital id bands. I just stop at our hospital, tell them why I need them, and they give them to me. At home, on the back side of the card in the id, I write all of our information. Then we have a night where the kids get to decorate their bands in any manner they like: stickers, markers, glitter. to make them stylish. then on the front of the card, I type "incase of emergency, remove card for information." insert it back into the id and we are good to go.

I don't have to worry about any of my children with these. From the 24 year old down to the 4 year old. I have everyone where them. The reason being, I let the older children go on their own and incase they become ill/pass out and can't tell anyone our cell number, hotel, etc. it is all on the band. They work wonderfully.

I just ordered some of the gotags for my son this trip. he does know all of his information but put in the position this might help. it is better to be safe than sorry. These will be hidden under his clothes so I put
1. His name
2. My Name
3. my cell phone
4. DH's Name
5. DH's Cell Phone

I also ordered a new luggage tag for me !! I have about three weeks left so i am hoping they don't take that long

The only other thing that may be important would be an allergy (like to bee stings). while growing up my friend had a severe allergy so her mom had her carry a card with their names, address, phone # and her allergies (they actually wrote out what to do in case she had an allergic reaction).
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I'll be doing for DD#1 (DD#2 will be "worn" most of the trip in a Snugli) but I love these ideas.

I read this in Parents Magazine, so I won't take the credit. One family made a necklace from the little craft letter and number beads. It said " Call 555-5555" the parents cell phone number. DD liked having a special Disney necklace. I thought of this because I'm not sure a scared 4 yo would remember she had a card.

I read about the ID necklace in Family Fun magazine last year. My boys, now 4 and 7 made them last year and they wore them at the parks, I also put them on at big crowded places like sporting events and festivals. It is a nice back-up. Since I have boys, I worked hard to be sure the necklaces werern't girly. I chose green cord and neon beads with black letters then bought little plain silvertone clasps. They like them. I am really concerned with what my kids might do if they are lost so, I always point out what CM's look like, "see their nametags and uniforms?". They also know to stay in one place and look around for a CM from that point only. I tell them not to talk to anyone but, if a mom asks them if they are lost they are to say "I need a CM or I need someone who works here". I figure moms with young children are more likely to be a safe person to at least say that to. I'm sure all this hasn't sunk in with the 4 year old, he is actually 3 but, almost 4 but, we try. Sesame Street has a really good book called, Ernie Gets Lost. I haven't done the id card which is also great. But, for my older son, I do put a card with all important names and numbers in his backpack.

I ordered a tag through these folks. Tags were a few dollars and free shipping. They arrived a few days ago. I ordered the Emergency ID ones since I thought they would be easier to spot. They go on shoes, even sandels. My DD isn't used to wearing a necklace but I will definitely check out the dog tags for future trips!

Good idea. I think only the emergency ones would work though, I would not notice the decrorative ones as anthing more than a decoration. Not sure my older son would like this so, I'm sticking with the necklace. The poster with the 13 month old is wise to be worried about choking with a necklace, I would say it is for the 3 and over crowd.

Thanks for the ideas! A velcro ankle band sounds particularly interesting to me! Wonder if I could figure out an easy way to make one myself...

Or the hospital wrist band certainly sounds like an easy solution. LOL I always think of them as kinda uncomfortable, but how much of that is just a bad association with hospitals? And I know that even my fearless 13 month old is gonna have a hard time hurting herself on that.

Hi - Just finished up an hour ago laminating the name tags for my two. I put their name, mine and dh's name, cell phone number, hometown and Resort name where we're staying. I also put Mickey/Minnie stickers on them. I just cut them to a small size and stick a pin on them. I don't plan on having it right out in front of them - maybe on the lower shirt under the arm.

I realize that it's not great for strangers to know their names, but also - If someone gets friendly with us in line I would offer that information myself, so they can get it if they try hard enough. Also- I think the benefit of the CM knowing the child's name outweighs the stranger knowing it. My kids are only 3 and almost 2- so they would be difficult to 'lure' anyway. If there was foul play at work- it would more likely be just by carrying them off.

I was worried about all the suggestions for around the neck options that I read. Since the kids are so young and will be going in play areas where the tag could get caught...

Anyway- I figure laminated nametags with a pin through them is best for us. Besides, I got to use my rarely used ebay laminator purchase.
