How is the quality of CP backpacks? They have a pretty good sale on them right now. I usually buy JanSport or YakPak from Kohl's.

We've owned the CP messenger bag and most of my daughter's friends have owned the backpacks (one year our carpool had three of the same pattern- which was challenging until the girls got into hanging keychains off of them and made them more distinguishable). I feel they have held up well. My daughter is only going in to 4th grade now, so she hasn't had to carry a huge load of books around at a time. I don't know how the bags would fare under those circumstances. If you have an older child, who will be stuffing it with a heavy load, I'll share that I bought my L.L. Bean backpack in '87 0r '88, schleped it through high school, college, here, there and everywhere as a mom, including Disney, and it's still in great condition. Good luck!

I bought my son one in second grade and and he just used it for FOUR years straight!! It was camo, which he loves, so he kept on using it....great for my pocketbook. At the end of this year, the zipper just started splitting on one end. Very happy with the wear we got out of it!

My twins are 7 do they don't have a lot to carry. But they throw them all over the floor at the after school program. They get so dirty.

If you just want it for a year or so they are great. Certainly not LL Bean or even Lands End. DD likes a new one each year so we go with the cheaper ones.

My dses first backpacks were from TCP and while they were nice and thick and sturdy, they did start to fall apart wherever 2 different materials were sewn together. Like if there was a zipper compartment on the front, where it was sewn to the backpack itself started to come apart, not structually though. I hope that makes sense :)

I replaced them with pones fro LLBean and they have been using them for years with no issues.

My son is going into year 5 with a backpack from there (4th grade). I got them for $5 on clearance (bought 2) and never been happier with a purchase!! I actually have a 3rd from another year because I loved the others so much. I splurged and paid $10 for that one. I use them every time we fly for our carry on items!

My older 2 have had their CP bookbags for 2 years and they're still holding strong. :) I got them new back packs this year so they can use the older ones for recreational things now that they're doing more activities and they have to get used to toting their own things.

My dd has had her messanger bag going on 3 years. She rides the bus and it lasted the dirty bus floor and still looks nice. So as long as they did not change the quality I would say get one on sale and for the price you can not go wrong.
