Children's desks?

We just bought an inexpensive desk and chair from IKEA for my DD9. The desk is light colored unfinished wood, the chair came in lots of colors, she chose pink. Total for desk and chair was under $100. Best investment ever since now she does her homework in her room and no more fighting with her sisters while doing homework at the kitchen table!

We have an IKEA about an hour's drive away, but the same products are available online as well.

You might look at your thrift stores. If you find one you like you can always paint it and add new handles to make it "new".

Walmart sells a desk by step 2 it has spot for crayons, paper and even has a light. I bought it for my dd8 when she was 3 and it has held up really well my dd5 uses it now.

If you go with a wood desk of some kind just go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a medium size piece of sheet plastic to protect it with. I have a beautiful desk that I wanted to do art projects at myself (paint with acrylics, hot glue etc) and for $5 I was able to buy a huge piece large enough to cover my entire work space. That way you dont have to worry.
