Hello!

I have a question about AP discounts on room reservations. I already ordered by sons AP, but I won't get mine until we get to the parks, because I have a Park Hopper ticket to upgrade.

Do the childrens AP's still qualify for the room discounts or is it only the adult AP's.

I just want to make sure when I check-in that they will honor the discount with my sons AP.

Thanks!
Katherine

Yes, they will accept a child's AP to get the AP rate on your room, if you even have to show the AP. We've used AP rates many times and never had to show the actual AP, even when a trainee checked us in, neither he nor his supervisor asked us for it.

for us at the AKL almost 2 years ago. I have heard some say that it won't work but have never heard that from someone it actually happened too!

Good luck.

If you have an AP, you are in the computer and it auto pops up. We got our voucher at the airport on the way to Disney, and the computer showed we had it.

Thanks for the replies!!

I just wanted to make sure they would accept his AP for the room discount. I didn't want to arrive and then have them tell me I have to pay rack rates :( !

Not sure whether this is really true, but if you rented a car you might go to the parks first for a little while before checking in, so the Disney computer system will verify that the AP exists because it was used for park entry, and the hotel desk clerk then won't ask to see it.

Also the adult who plans to buy an AP after getting there could go buy it and then the family checks in.

Since the parent can co-sign for responsibility for room payment, there is no reason under the sun why the child's AP should not be accepted on the spot for the AP discount. (Until WDW publishes a rule that only adult priced AP's can be used.)

If the hopper pass is more than a few years old, it is a better deal to keep it for a future visit and not apply its remaining value in yesteryear's dollars towards an AP at today's ticket prices.

I was always under the impression it had to be an adult AP. In fact when I made my ressies, I specifically asked and was told yes, it had to be an adult AP.

Of course, CRO CM's are NEVER wrong. I'd love to know for sure...if a child AP qualifies, that would be great. :p :p

Just figured it out w/$$: We have 3 adults and one child going.
Three 7-day Hopper Plus passes for adults ($309 each DC discount, advance purchase) + one Child AP ($320 discount) comes to a total of $1247. Two adult 7-day Hopper PLus + one child 7-day Hopper Plus ($248 DC) + one adult AP ($377 DC)= $1243....a $4 difference.....
