Children scared of 3D shows

If your child is scared during a 3D show (like Bug's life or Philharmagic), and starts crying out loud, would you take them out of the theatre? Would it be rude for parents to keep them inside just so they could finish watching the show?

Uh, yeah. There is still such a thing as courtesy, even at WDW. Besides everyone else in the theater, what about the poor child that is scared to be in there? I would think a good parent would not make their child sit through something that is really scaring them.

I took my young children out of Honey, I shrunk the Audience right after the part where the mice get out....and i wasn't the only parent doing so!

same here, i took my 7 yr old out of Honey, too...i didn't realize how scary it was (it scared me, too...the cat!!) and he was totally freaked out! the CMs will let you right out no problems.

My boys 6 and 8 hate 3D shows. We baby swap for them because it is very stressful on our kids if we make them go. If we do bring them in they sit on our laps, with earplugs in with a towel or something over their faces. They never scream or cry, but why put them through it?

I took my DD out of Philharmagic once. I was also told by someone on another board that it was rude to open the door during the show and ruin it for everyone else. I thought it more rude to allow my screaming DD stay in the theater! If I had known it would have frightened her then I wouldn't have taken her to the show in the first place.

Please, please take them out! I had screaming children -- I mean unconsolable, uncontrollable shrieking -- ALL AROUND ME (at least 5 or 6 from different families) during my only Philharmagic experience. It was awful.

My DD3, did fine in Mickey's Philharmagic, she didn't want to wear the glasses though. When it was dark she put her hand on my knee. I was surprised that she didn't get scared. Other kids did. If she would have started screaming I would have left. I hate listening to screaming kids when I am trying to watch something. We didn't make it to It's tought to be a bug, but we probably would not have taken her to see it.

Oh yes, please take them out! I used to work at It's Tough to be a Bug, and we always had many quick exits during each show. There are CMs stationed at the doors with flashlights specifically for that reason.

My wife took my DD2 1/2 out of bugs life last year. It was way too much for her.

Ironically, she didn't have a problem with the muppet 3d show.

I consider it rude to the others and cruel to make my child sit and let her cry through something that obviously terrifies her.

It doesn't work out for her or the audience. Seems pretty straight-forward to me.

I have a 3 1/2 year old who loves 3-D shows but does scare if the content is too intense/scary. I'm not taking him to Tough to be a Bug or Honey I Shrunk the audience due to this, but what is scary about Philarmagic? I've never seen it before. Thanks.

we went in march, my dd4, was really scared during ITTBAB, and HISTA, not during the MUP3d, and we didn't get to see the Mickey Philharmagic. In both she started to cry but was ok when she sat on my lap, and looked away from the screen.

Happened last week, in, of all places, the Tiki Room.

Little boy screamed bloody murder from start to finish.
Rhodes scholar father just sat there, even though the exit door was unobstructed, just a few feet away.

Some of these attractions, even though it's Disney, are loud, dark, and have abrupt visuals that can easily frighten.

That's why they put those warning signs up.

Yes, take the poor child out.

Just back, within the hour. Our DD2 got jumpy during the 3D shows, but I think that it was mostly the other reactions that got to her. She never screamed or started crying, just climbing all over my lap. During one of the ITTBAB shows there was a child who sounded like someone was trying to kill her/him just behing my DH. I mean there were plenty of children crying in that showing (more than the first) but this child was histerical! Not only was it rude to sit there ruining the experience for others, but I can't imagine not doing something if that were my child! I mean, I wanted to console that child myself.

I (as an adult) was scared at Honey, and Bug is a scary for the kids (even my not easily scared 8 yr old!)...Phil is in no way scary at all except for the fact that it is 3D and things come flying out at you, which could upset little ones even tho they are not scary things....I actually cried like a little baby when Ariel puts her arms out towards the audience it was so beautiful!!! Maybe take the little ones in without 3D glasses the first time round to see how they react.

When my nephew was quite a bit younger (now 20), he went to Capt EO and didn't like the things flying out at him, my mom told him to take his glasses off and then he was fine. He was about 5 1/2 years old at the time.

My mom said to hear him tell the story about Capt EO later, he was just punching at the things flying out at him and he wasn't scared at all.

So that might be an alternative to try first. If that doesn't work, then yes take the child out. Don't subject them to something that is obviously scaring them. My DD didn't like ITTBAB but she did try and watch part of it. When she decided she didn't like it, her and I left and let my DH watch of the show. DD was 12 at the time.

The 3D shows scare me/freak me out. I'm still debating whether or not we will even attempt taking our dd5 and ds2 1/2 in them at all in October.

If we do try it, and they are upset, I would definitely take them right out.

ITTBAB and HISTA freak out our DD who is 7.
She loves Philharmagic, and even Space Mountain, but she can't take those 3-D shows, lol!

Please, please, take them out. It's not fair to others in the show. Much less, it's cruel to make a child who is obliviously frighten in a show. We has a bad experience in the Tiki Room. When Iago arrived a little tike in front of us "freaked Out" (as my 7 yr. old said) and screamed for the rest of the show. We ended up going back a second time to really hear the show-plus we enjoyed it...
In the It's Tough to be A Bug, I think if the child is afraid of the dark and/or bugs... Don't even attempt it. Why frighten them? There are plenty of rides for the children to enjoy.
