Just back from trip to WDW.........

I've come to one conclusion about children and their behavior.

The WELL behaved children are usually called by their first names.

The ILL behaved children are called pet names!!!

ie, sweetheart, honey, angel, and the like!!!

Anyone else notice that??? ::yes::

Thought this was going to be on another subject.

My brother named his daughter after the dog.

(Okay, in fairness, he named the dog before he got married, and it's his wife's favorite name, so she wanted to name the baby that in spite of the dog.)

How do you think that will effect her behavior? I suspect that if they have another, her little brother or sister will never let her live it down.

I personally think a lot of very well behaved children are called by nicknames or pet names. So my answer is no, I have never noticed your observation to be true.

I usually call my husband a pet name, and he is well-behaved. :teeth:

Usually well behaved children are known by their first names, while children who are in trouble a lot are know by both first and last name. When I hear a child talk about a classmate and use both the first and last name, I usually know that's a child called out by the teacher a lot. ( and not in a positive light) LOL

I refer to my DD by pet names frequently and she is very well behaved.

My guys know when I break out the middle names it's time to head for the hills!

Most of the time it's Pumpkin Pie, Johnny Bear, and Buggy but if you hear Patrick Edward, John Donald or Shane Peter take cover!

DW and I tend to use pet names for DS as terms of endearment. Even when I'm mad at him I still use just his first name, but DW uses first and middle.

I have to totally disagree with the OP. My kids are always called by pet names when they are behaving....when I use the middle name, they know they are in trouble.

What an odd thread..........**slowly backing out**...time to go wake up "Pie Girl" and get the "Darlin'" on the bus.......

nope not in our household!:D
DH loves pet names....makes me crazy! I thinks it is because he can't remember all of our names! When our kids misbehave which isn't often they get their first and middle names...and if I have to say the last name...then they know! It's my 1, 2, 3 magic!

While I do occasionally call my kids pet names, its not when they are being bad. When they are bad they become Cameron Austin and Colton Ryan.
However this post has given me a good laugh this morning. On our last trip to WDW we noticed a specific case of exactly what you are saying. It got so bad that DH and I started calling each other these particular names, and they are still the running joke here. So, yes in some cases I do totally agree with your point. ;)

I'd have to agree with kidzmom3...

I always use first names now that the kids are older (13, 12 and 9). When I use the middle name (or worse...the last name as well!! :earseek: ), they know they are in some serious doggy doo!!

A funny story about using middle names! I would frequently help out in my kids school when they were in elementary. IF they would misbehave and I was there, I would use both names out of habit. Well, once my oldest daughter did something and the teacher addressed her as "Jeana Rose!" ::yes:: She almost died!! :bounce:

I use a pet nick name when my kids are really in trouble. They know they're in deep when I call them "Buster".

I get the OP's point though. I know a lot of little "sweethearts" who are heck on wheels.
