We are choosing our excursions but are not clear on something!
When Disney says that the child price is for example $30 (aes5-9) does this mean that you must be 5 years old to go on the excusion with your parents, or that any child under 5 yrs does not pay!?!!

I understand that lots of the sporty ones have a 10 yr age requirement, but lots of the ones which start with prices for a 5 yr old are beach trips! We are travelling with a 4 yr old!

Many thanks

Usually the age limit is listed with the excursion name on the fact sheet. Children under 3 are free on excursions where they are allowed (usually walking tours, beach days, bus tours, etc.). Children 3-9 incur a cost unless specifically stated. Can you tell me specifically which one you are confused about? Maybe I can help.

Sorry!! Obviously not very clear!!!

For some excursions like swimming with dolphins, canoeing, regatta, horseriding etc there is a clear age limit stated such as under 10 yrs N/A, presumably because these excursions are not suitable for younger children. Which I understand!

However, there are some trips where there is no stated lower age, but where the pricing does not start until 5 years old. Some of these trips are boat trips to beaches, snorkelling etc. What I am not clear about is whether you MUST be at least 5 years old to go on these trips with parents, or whether anyone under the age of 5 years old goes free!!!!!

I was wondering about this too. The way I understand it is that unless the excursion is marked with a + next to it, it is only for the age limits posted. Does that make sense?

On the Disneycruise website, on the bottom of the excursion pages, it states:

"†Designates excursions for all ages; a fee may be charged for children under 3."

So, as an example, the Key West Catamaran Sail & Snorkel Tour would only be open to 5 and up. But the Conch Republic Tour & Museum Package is open to all ages.

"Key West Catamaran Sail & Snorkel Tour (3-3.5 hours)

Adult Price: $44 (ages 10 and above)
Child Price: $25 (ages 5-9)
Departure Time: 12:30 pm

Conch Republic Tour & Museum Package (2-2.5 hours)

Adult Price: $42 (ages 10 and above)
Child Price: $22 (ages 3-9)†
Departure Time: 12:00 pm "

It sounds like children under the minimum charge age are allowed but MAY be charged a fee. They could make it a little easier to understand, couldn't they?

I think it's really unclear! Last time we cruised my son was only 2 yrs, and so could come on any excursion and did not have to pay. This time he will be 4 yrs old and it seems that he will be excluded from a lot of excusions that have pricing only for 5 yrs and older, which seems a bit mad!!!!

How strict are Disney about this? If I reserved the excursion would they check that he was 5 rather than 4?!!!

From what I've been told, if an excursion lists different ages than 3- 9 for children, then the lowest age listed (in this case age 5) is the lowest age allowed on the excursion. Usually the beach ones that have a snorkling component, and those usually do, they only allow children over the age of 5 to go. It's an insurance thing, and there is no way around it. The only thing to do is to book your excursions separately from DCL. I came upon the same problem from our Wonder cruise, and have been told the same thing from our Magic cruise. Also, yes, they do check, since they already know your son's age due to providing it at reservation time. Also, you have to produce either his birth certificate of passport at check-in, which will list his birthdate, which of course has to match the birthdate on the reservation.

Debs don't forget you can book almost all excursions independantly ie through nativewaywatersports, captain marvins, shoretrips and many more they have different age restrictions based on their insurance liability and are frequently cheaper and less packed than dcl.

Both cruises we took we were very limited with excursions through Disney. First one she was 2 and only thing she could really do was the beach excursion at Freeport....this past time we booked directly through Captain Marvins so she could go since she wasn't allowed to go onthe Disney stingray excursion since she was only 4......they wouldn't let her go even if she paid full fare!
