Does anyone else have a child who sweats a lot? My son is 5 and he can get very sweaty, especially on his neck and his head. Last night I went in his room to check on him after he was asleep for about an hour and he just had on short sleeved pj's and a comforter - no sheet- and he was soaked. I changed his shirt and flipped over his pillow and pulled the comforter down to his waist. I sleep under a comforter and no sheet also and I don't get that warm. I keep the temp. set at 66 in the evenings.

I think this is a fairly common thing for kids (so i'm told), and I do try and keep his room cool and the window cracked - but do they outgrow this?

Dd is 6.5 and she has always been a little toaster oven! I think kids run hot or cold just like adults.
In the winter I'm under flannel sheets and a down comforter while Dd is in nothing but her undies w/ no blankets....go figure!

DS is 4 and as soon as he was old enough to pull off his pajamas he did every night no matter how hot or cold the house seemed. He just wanted to sleep in his diaper/pull-up/underwear. I did notice that no matter what temp it was he always was sweaty at night when we would check up on him. As he got older he was able to tell us he didn't want pajamas because he got too hot.

For now we just let him sleep that way and even though he just kicks it off I still cover him up with his comforter every night when I check up on him. I just can't seem to make myself walk by when he doesn't have something covering him up even though I know he gets hot. I think it is some kind of primative mothering instinct that makes me do it. :)

My Ds is that way. He is in short disney pj pals, no blankets, air conditioner and fan on and is a sweaty mess at night. I'm in flannel PJ pants, long sleeved t-shirt and under a down comforter and I'm still chilly.

as you can see I have no clue about these things...

LOL RadioNate - I got a kick out of that visual!!

Thanks Becka and Lulugirl and Radio Nate.

Our son (10) was/is a huge sweater, one day my wife and I took him for a haircut, and the stylist said to try TeaTree Shampoo and Conditioner. Works perfectly!

It doesn't matter f he was in only shorts with AC on, he would still sweat, but the shampoo works wonders!

I don't know if they grow out of it or not. But, I can tell you that my BF is the same way and he's 23!. I think its because he wraps up like a burrito in the blankets and the warmth and slight amount of humidity gets trapped in there. Somehow that doesn't bother him. When I roll over his direction I end up being repulsed LOL, its a gross feeling IMO.
I am completely uncomfortable if I get too hot when I'm sleeping. I kick all the blankets off me and end up freezing in the middle of the night when the AC kicks on :rotfl:

DS has always been that way and he's 11 now. This winter he'd run around the house in shorts and sleeveless jersey-made me cold just looking at him! Think December was the only month he and his friends didn't wear shorts to school. Must just be his body chemistry. He also runs high fevers when ill (102-103), and tolerates fever pretty well.

Mine too. DS is 12 and has always sweats. You should see him after a game. Gross. He rarely takes a big coat and he always sleeps in shorts.

When he was a baby I thought he was constantly running a fever, he was so hot to me. Temp was normal. He also tolerates a high temp. Last time he was sick it was 103 and he did not complain.

My DS4's socks are soaked whenever he takes them off. His shoes always stink. :smokin: He now has to leave his shoes in the garage. He's one hot tater! I'm like Becka and I always put his comforter back on him but it always gets pulled off. :lmao:

I think some kids are just hot natured like adults are. I know that I over heat very easily, but I'm usually cold. (I think I'm just wierd though)

Funny you should say that.... DS had plantar warts removed from both feet a year ago (they were so deep that we did it in the outpatient surgery center, not podiatrist's office). I know one "cause" is sweating of the feet but I hadn't made any connection between that and his body chemistry until now :confused3 . Gives me something else to think about - thanks!

Yep, when I check on my oldest son in the middle of the night his hair is almost always soaked with sweat. He has done that since he was a baby.

DS7 is like his daddy. When he use to fall asleep in bed with DH & I would pick him up to put him in his own bed he was always sweaty. :( I always had to make sure that my pillow wasn't on the bed so he wouldn't soak it. I learned that after having to run it thru the dryer a few times. UGH! :( He could be in just his underwear on top of the sheet with nothing on him & be dripping wet with sweat. He doesn't get that way at night anymore & actually uses a sheet sometimes. He does still sweat terribly when he is running around. He gets soaked. I am hoping that as he gets older that will get less also.
