What have been your experiences with Children liking or disliking Everest in Animal Kingdom? I have two children, turning 6 and 8 on our trip. The 6 year old is fairly fearless, generally speaking. She likes everything at DLR except Space Mtn. But I think Everest looks a bit intimidating, even for me! I would love to hear what your experience has been with children one way or the other.

It's DD9 and DD7's favorite ride out of all of the parks. We ended up riding it 7 or 8 times when we were down there a couple of weeks ago.

DS was almost 5 and really enjoyed it.

DD was 5 when we went last year. She absolutely loved BTMRR. She was ok with Space Mountain and Expedition Everest, but didn't want to go again after going once each. She was terrified of Tower of Terror - letting her go on that was a big mistake!

DD is 6 1/2 on Friday and she loved it! She said it was "fun scary" while Dinosaur was just "scary". She also love BTMRR and Splash. We didn't get to space mtn yet, but she wants to later this week.

It is DD(8)'s favorite ride. We went to Animal Kingdom one morning and just rode it over and over and over again.

My DD rode it for the first time in August and loved it. She was just 1 month shy of 7.

I was actually quite surprised she agreed to ride it. Prior to the trip, we had been watching the planning DVD and she kept referring to EE as "the monster coaster". And NO WAY was she going to ride the monster coaster. She didn't even want to go to the AK. Once we were at WDW, she kept watching Stacy present the "must do" lists on TV. I don't know what it was about Stacy, but before long my DD was telling me she had to go ride EE because it was a "must do". We rode it 4 times the day we went.

Just returned and rode EE for the first time. Great coaster but much more intense than Big Thunder and possibly more than Space Mountain. The backwards part really whips you around in different directions and it is partly in the dark!

Our dd7 surprised us on our trip last week and rode Rn'R, SM and EE all for the first time....
Rn'R was her favorite, but both it and SM got the comment that the rides were "too short"
EE was probably her least favorite, but she did like it.

It will likely depend on the child, honestly. My 9 year old, who was freaked out on several dark rides (Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribbean and Maelstrom of all things), rode EE with no problem. Twice. Sometimes there's really no telling until you get there.

When we went last year, my DD6 could not get enough of Everest. We rode it 3 times before noon and then one more time with a FP before 3pm.

Like anything else, It depends on the kid.Mine won't go near it and she is 7.But she is timid and not a fan of thrill rides.Other kids love it.

On our first family trip DD and DS had just turned 6 and DD absolutely LOVED EE. DS wouldn't try it though.

On our last trip when they were 8, both DD and DS rode it and loved it. We even rode 4 times in a row since there were no lines!

DD is more the thrill ride kid in the family, but DS is getting more adventurous, but he doesn't like coasters that go upside down.

But, like everyone says...it all depends on the kid and only you know your kid the best!

Good luck

This became our DD's favorite when she was 4. Of course, she's a fearless one who loved ToT at 3:goodvibes

My daughter has been riding it since the age of 5, but she is completely fearless. I have yet to find any ride at any park that she won't ride.
My 6yo son won't go on it, and my youngest wanted to ride it but was too short on our last trip.

DD (8 on the trip) had never ridden a thrill ride before, so we took her to DQ on our first day and played with the roller coaster simulator there. It eased her fears for roller coasters because it had the big STOP button she could press if she was too scared. She never pressed it. :thumbsup2

Her first roller coaster in the parks was EE. She begged to ride again. She also rode every thrill ride at WDW without any issues.

Granted DS will be tall enough to ride this year, and I wouldn't dare attempt to get him on EE. He did BTMRR just fine, but only because it was train themed. :confused3

Both my kids are adrenaline junkies.

DS had just turned 8 and DD was almost 6 when we went last month. They both loved it!!!!!!!! They loved all the wild rides though .... DD would ask me on slow rides "is this going to go fast?".

I let my DH, 7, watch a videotape of the ride before he rode it, because his problem was a fear of the unknown. He was willing to try it after the video because he knew what to expect. I had to whisper in his ear while we rode it what was coming up so he was prepared. That was 2 years ago, and now it is his favorite ride! I never want him to be so scared on something that he doesn't want to try rides anymore.

7yo DD loved it last week. She also loved Test Track, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Mission Space (orange), and Soarin. We didn't try TT or RnRC (she's not tall enough for it). She hated Dinosaur, wasn't pleased with the beasts jumping out with her, so I don't know how she would have liked the Yeti had it been working (or even in disco mode, it was completely blacked out for us).
