We are taking our only child - ds 6 - to WDW in late June/July. He has a sensory processing disorder and Developmental Coordination Disorder. For folks who know about sensory integration dysfunction in kids I was hoping to get a few tips on experiencing WDW.
I know the basics about noise and stimuation etc, I was hoping to hear some personal experiences about things that went well and did not.
I am thinking about bringing a stroller for him. He has a hard time with stairs and anything requiring motor planning.
Thanks!

Hi,
You can bring a stroller or rent one at the park. It's a good choice for a kid that tires easily. If you rent one, put something personal on it (like a red bandana) to prevent someone from "borrowing" it.
Bring a few sets of earplugs to help him with the intense noise on the attractions or from the fireworks. I found some that are child sized and come on a string so that they stay together.
If he has issues with food, check out the menus in advance at allears and see which meals would appeal to him. You might also want to bring some small snacks with you so that he can have something he likes at a moments notice.
Check out how intense the attractions are. Some might overwhelm him. If you want to go on an intense reaction and he doesn't, you can do a "child swap" where one parent rides and the other stands by with the child. Then, at the end, the 1st rider is brought to the loading area to watch the kid and the next parent rides. Really a parent swap. :)

Have a great trip!
