We're taking out DGD on her first trip to WDW in June. She'll be two at the time of our trip. How does dining work with children under 3? Can we order for her at no charge? Surely that can't be right. What about buffets? I originally figured she could just eat some of ours (3 adults). :confused3 This is our first time to take a small child.

We just got back with our daughter who just turned 3. At the buffet they will charge you (she only ate about 2 bites)

During regular table service restaurants we just gave her some of ours. There was never a problem.

Age 2 might be different at the buffet though, I would just ask.:)

Children under 3 may share at all restaurants, and they eat free at buffets and all-you-can-eat fixed price meals.

If you order a meal for them a la carte, then you pay for it.

Makes sense. Thanks!

On our trip in Sept. My DS was 3 and DD was 14 months. We paid for all of DS's meals (buffet or ala carte) but DD would just eat some of ours or DS's. All servers were happy to bring us a small plate. We mainly chose buffets so the kids could have plenty of choices and we wouldn't have any issues with DD.
The restaurant that surprised me was Biergarten. It was the best TS of our trip. The kids ate the most on the entire trip there AND they both Loved :lovestruc the oompa band! We stayed for 2 shows and danced the second because we were eating during the first.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Buffets are FREE for under 3....They will let you make a plate or plates for under three and they will bring the child a drink...

They will let you share at a regular table service and will give you an extra plate at no extra charge...But they will charge you full price if you order anything for the child under three...

Take advantage of the buffets because the kids under 3 are totally free there...And we did character meals so we did not have to wait on lines to see our favorites...They came to use during our meals and our kids ate for free!

At a table service with a menu you can also ask for a menu. When my daughter was two every place we ate at would ask me if I wanted to split some onto a separate plate for her. No one ever charged me for this. At Liberty Tree Tavern they even put it on a mouse shaped plate. I didn't notice any missing from my plate but my daughter loved it.
