Child turning 10 during trip

Hello!
I know this is WAY early but it came up over the weekend. We are taking a big family trip summer of 2017. We are staying 2 weeks and doing the meal plan. My son will turn 10 midway through the trip - making him an "adult" on the dining play. He really does NOT want to eat off the adult menu. How do we handle this? Will Disney push him into the adult plan part way through the trip?
Thanks so much!

No..you'll be fine. They won't know anyways, and they won't force him to order from the regular menu. And usually it's whatever age the child is at the beginning of the trip is what they go by for the entire trip

This thread raises a similar question for me. We have free dining this fall. My 12 year old will want to order off the kids menu 90% of the time, if not more. He has serious nut and peanut allergies, so he has grown up primarily eating things he knows and, quite honestly, is a picky eater. I've been assuming that would not be a problem, since he technically is 'downgrading' his meal. But, given the answers on this thread, I'm now not so sure. There is no way he passes for 9, so he's not going to fool cast members that way.

Will he be able to order from the kids menu, or is that going to be a problem?

Not a problem, although like you've noted, you will be downgraded on his meal so overpaying for him on the dining plan. You may want to consider paying OOP for him for meals that he orders from the kids menu and use his credits between the adults for either additional meals or some signature meals.

Thank you for the response. Is it possible to bank those dining credits since we'll be part of the free dining promotion as opposed to actually purchasing the plan on our own?

Yes. The credits are just a "pool of credits" not assigned to one particular person. If you pay OOP for him for a children meal any of the adults can use one of "his" credits.
For example: 3 Disney Adults for 14 nights (2 TS credits per night) you have 84 credits on the account. How you use them is up to you.
FYI we did FD in September and you don't have to use two per day. You can use 3 one day and 1 the next (etc...) they only expire at midnight of your check out day.
