Child Swap Question

Hi,

I'm posting this question for a friend of ours who will be going to Disneyland next month...

I know that the usual purpose for child swap is to allow both parents to ride a ride in a timely manner when there is a child that is too small to ride, but my friend's wife is pregnant and they will be there with their 4 and 5 year old children who are now just big enough to ride a lot of the fun rides that pregnant ladies should avoid... so they're wondering if the dad can use the child swap to ride twice - once with each kid... It seems logical that they would allow this, but does anybody know for sure?

We know that it doesn't matter for rides where three can ride side by side, but we don't think either of the kids is ready to ride alone on rides like Splash Mountain or the Matterhorn where riders sit one in front of the other...

As a father of 4 who has taken pretty good advantage of ride swap in the past I can tell you that the CM's are pretty understanding about that sort of thing. Just ask and they will usually accommodate you most of the time. The place was really build with kids and families in mind and for the most part DL hasn't forgotten that.

He can absolutely use child swap to ride with each kid. Ask the CM at the front of the attraction for a pass. The pass will be good for two people. He can come back and ride with the other kid. Combine with FP and it's even better!

Also, they won't allow the kids to ride alone anyway -- they have to be 7 to ride by themselves.

I'm not sure they will allow you to use Child Swap in this case. Last summer I was visiting with DD24 and DS7 and DS10. They would not give us a pass so I could sit out with DS7 (who is terrified of this ride) and ride later with DS10. They were very strict about this.

I am really surprised to read this. We have been using child swap for years and they have never given us a hard time about who was riding, etc. I think in this case, especially because neither child will be able to ride by themselves because of their age, they will be fine.....

We were just there a few weeks ago and they were fine about giving us a Child Swap pass at Matterhorn when our 4 year old DD started balking about going on the ride (mind you, she had LOVED this ride when we were there in December '09 and February '10 ). DD7 and DH were going to go on while I waited with DD4 and the Child Swap pass, but then DD4 decided at the last moment she wanted to go after all, so we gave the pass back to the person at the loading site.

Perhaps it depends on the age of the kids? Or maybe which CM is working the ride?

I'm really surprised that they gave you trouble about this as we do it ALL the time. We just ask for a child swap pass and they give us one -- we've never even been questioned about who it's for. We've done this before when we only have two FP's (with 5 of us, if tiny DD and I don't ride, the big boys and Daddy can carry 2 rides worth of FP's at a time) to make things quicker and it works like a charm.
