I am trying to pack ponchos for us all since they are smaller than rain jackets, but I have only found the adult ponchos at the $1 store. I don't want to pay more than a couple dollars for one, but everything online is more. Anyone know a store where I can find a child size poncho for cheap? TIA!

We were in the same boat in 2009 and found some at Walmart (where they have purses, umbrellas, etc). It was a little big for my 6 yr old, but better than the $1 store ones. I don't remember what we payed for it, but I know it was less than $5.

Unless there is a strong chance of constant showers while you are there, I would just use the adult ones and then tie the ends, or have a small scissors to cut the bottom off.

We can get ponchos for 50 cents (2 for $1); for that amount, I would just improvise unless you are in a constant state of rain - then I'd spring for a regular child's raincoat.

Thanks!

I checked WalMart before by the purses and couldn't find anything, but I will dbl check again.

I did buy the adult ones at 2/ $1 at the dollar store so I guess I could just tie it off or cut it if needed.

I always bring an extra poncho to put over my stroller too in case we get stuck walking far in a downpour. It helps keep all the items we're lugging around stay dry too.

When i was little my parents had us walk under their poncho. They said it was less to carry and it kept the rain off their feet and legs and they didn't have to keep track of us.

At Walmart check in camping. There are two places to look for them. One in the camping section where you would find things like camp kitchen stuff and the other near there that is more general wet weather gear where you would find rain coats and pants.

You should find child's ponchos there but they are close to say $4 because they aren't disposable.

Great, thanks! I will be checking that out!! :)

I know these are not cheap, but I saw the reusable Totes brand children's sized ponchos yesterday at Walgreens for $6.99 I believe. I never see the children's sized so I thought I would tell you just in case you can't find anything else.

Target has rain coats for boys and girls near the underwear section. They are $7 or $8 are not disposable, but they do have some disney ones. They fit really well and the kids wear them to school on days it rains. The hoods fit nice around their heads to prevent extra water from coming in.

At our Dollar Store (I live in Canada) We found adult clear ones and children with patterns like princesses or cars. I'd talk to the manager to see if you can special order one, or if they have any in the back that are smaller. If not, it's time to get out the scissors, it will work the same way.
Also, if you're willing to spend that extra money i'm sure Wal-Mart or K-Mart will have them.
